1.
By the way, that t-shirt was pinned at the back with no fewer than three hair clips, and of course I tried to roll the sleeves so that they didn't look exceedingly huge - but I failed...
Thats the same shirt i have that ive never worn because i need three clips and a tummy tuck for it to look that good :-)
2. Not only great bass playing but he also manages to sing whilst playing it. I thought the tone and playing was a bit lacking in the video clip but thats to be expected i guess. I got the impression he was a bit lost for what to play.
3. No problem, now you know what I meant and wasn't aiming it at anyone here, but I do know people like that and it winds me up.
4.
By that do you mean that to base ones earnings value on a realistic desire to have a home and feed a family in unreasonable, or should we all just get proper jobs?? Should musicians not be able to earn what amounts to an average salary? Where does your feeling for the above sentiment come from?
No idea what your on about. I don't recal saying any of that. I've seen musicians who put bugger all effort in to it yet moan like hell that they should be getting much more money, those are the people I'm talking about. As for a proper job, being a full time musician is a proper job as far as I'm concerned, although not one I would chose to do.
5. Lol, nothing like a good bit of bad publicity to earn a few quid more.
6.
At the end of the day, it is not about been a full time pro or a semi pro or even someone who gigs once or twice a year. I would just like to dispel the myth that just throwing a couple of cover songs together doesn't mean you have any commercial value, for that you need to put the work in.
I quite agree. I get the impression that some musicians have their head firmly up their ass when it comes to how much they think they should be paid.

8.
I have a steinberger spirit XT2, that I'm just about to put up for sale, bought it with the intention of having a bass at work to play during lunch hour,
Thats the reason i still have my old White Spirit XZ-2 bass at work. My son likes playing it but i dont really use it much, its good for when im doing overtime though. Its a nice bass with a nice tone, i love the EMG Selects, and its the only bass ive had that has 24 frets, not that i ever go that high. Funny enough it was re discovered behind my big digital copier a couple of years ago. Must have been there for a good 6-7 years lol.
9. You could go on to a few agent sites like the the Alive network and go through the process of booking a duo and see how much the going rate is. i would say £300+ is a good price, especially if you are also supplying the lights for the party and maybe ipod music in between sets. Maybe a bit less if you are just going to do the two sets and they have a DJ etc.
10. Dont worry, im going to make an effort to meet at least you and a few others that day. Im also going to give the heads up to another few London members on here to see if we can increase the numbers.
11. Bloody hell. Looks like someone has hijacked Gareth's account.......second hand indeed, pull the other one ;-)
12. In the link above it states that they are ex demo, so i can see how they arent priced the same as clicking on the gear on the main pages. I would expect to pay less for ex demo anyway but they are good prices i guess.
13.
There will be! Not just from my humble Canon compact but also from Dave, whose photo equipment and editing skills will eclipse anything I can do. I'm looking forward to this meetup!
You're making me blush now :-) Some bad news on my part. Ive been notified we have a 3pm sound check that day. Apparently the gig is now a "Variety night" and instead of just us its going to be about 4 acts on that night, so being the main act we have to be in early. ill still be around, just not for too long as ill need to leave my place at 2pm.
14. Yep, looking forward to the IM gig as well. I have seen it before and prefer the Flight 666 film they did a while ago, but it's still very enjoyable. Right, so it's on, the sound isn't too bad through my home cinema set up but the audio does seem to be slightly out of sync. Nothing unusual for VM/Sky though and I won't let it ruin the program, after all, it's the gear I'm looking at not the lips.
15. Looks like there is quite a bit of good stuff coming up http://skyarts.sky.com/metal-evolution
16. I loved the Rio DVD, especially the tone Geddy had, but I've not heard much from them lately. I'm hoping it's in DD5.1. It was just by chance I heard the announcement, I don't tend to watch Sky Arts much and am always missing good stuff.
17. I just noticed this will be on Sky arts 1 tomorrow night at 10pm. Both HD and SD. It's the 2007 Rotterdam gig by the looks of it, I've not seen this yet. Can't wait.
18. Maybe the mods will move this thread in to the Repairs and Technical issues section with all the other set up threads, although i expect it will get more views here. For me the Lakland one hits the nail on the head.
19. Im still loving mine. Thanks to GW's neck change thread i realised how much nicer the red version looks with a maple neck, so ive got a Maple Lakland JO neck on mine. Still dont like the colour but i can live with it. White would be perfect. Thinking about putting a Fralin in it at the moment but it would need to be a second hand one as these cost about half what a new CVP costs. The Fender 62RI pup i have in it now is fine but having owned Fralins in the past i think that would round off the modifications just nicely.
20. It does look pretty cool. Just a heads up that Apple do refurbished iPad2's for around £289 or less, fully guaranteed.
21.
Good work, hope to be there. Will there be slapping?
Only if the goose tries to make a run for it
22. Before owning this i had a original HW1 and preferred it over the MIA's. The finish on this bass seems to be better than the first gen.
23. I'll probably bring my DSLR as i wont be drinking so can keep an eye on it. Look forward to meeting you, and any other as well. Fingers crossed the weather is good.
24. Cool, and good work. It might be a good opportunity to get some photos as well.
