Funny but i can play Rio finger style fine, but not all shook up I do like the filters though, and i think these are why ive stuck with MB for the past 7 years, excluding a few moments of madness.

I just start playing the next song. Ive actually work out quite a few intros that are normally played on guitar but the bugger takes so long to start them that i now just tell the drummer what we are going to play and we get on with it. It is very embarrassing when both singer and guitarist are tuning up (audibly in the singer/guitarist's case) and then need to take a swig of water, one after the other.

While i also have mine set up like yours i do think that if the VPF is used (much) it will cut the mids and so wont help in getting the tone the OP is asking about. Then again my cab is so middy ive never noticed a lack of them no matter what setting i use.

[/quote] I found just adding a BDDI made a big difference. The VT Bass will take it to another level. I had one but found it was a bit too much for what i needed but the BDDI adds just enough, with more on tap. These pedals seem to work well with MB heads.

This then makes the song "our version", which to me means its a cocked up version that hasn't been re arranged, its just that someone couldn't be bothered to learn it and so we all have wasted our time

If they throw one or two in, in their own style i probably enjoy them. If i go and see a covers band then im expecting to hear songs i like and know. I dont mind if they deviate a bit, and would expect it, but some bands go way off tangent with covers, to the point that they loose the original feel. I would say we (or actually some) musicians feel they need to make their mark on everything, or they think they can do it better, so do change things, not for the better, but so they can feel they have been "creative". It doesn't always work.

I try and get as close to the original as i can. If im struggling then ill just get close. I wont spend hours on it unless the bass line is very integral and distinctive. The way i see it is that most people wouldn't or care or know if its slightly different, but i'd like to think it as close as possible and that ive done a good job on it.

When you right click on a word and get the menu come up it should give you the option to change language. If this isnt there you may need to download the English (UK) dictionary. Just go to tools/addon's and follow the links. I get different results from both my PC's. one has as ive described above but the other has some other strange word checker as well. Not sure where that came from although it might be to do with the spell checker i had installed for IE9.

Ive not found them too uncomfortable but there is quite a bit of pressure when you first get them. They need to be pretty tight and do sit on the ear so i guess they arent everyone's cup of tea. I also have a pair of Senn HD215's and these sit over the ear and when i use these they now feel too loose as im used to the HD25. Mine loosened up pretty quickly and now i can easily watch a film with them on without any discomfort. I do find my ears sweat a bit after my walk to work with the standard ear pieces on, but mine also came with the softer velour ones. Be aware that there are a few different versions around, i'd avoid the cheaper SP versions as they use different drivers and have a different headband. Nothing wrong with that but if you can stretch the budget a bit more you can get the full blown versions and i dont think any of us here are talking about the SP version. As Gareth said, The HD25-1 basic edition can be had for around £140. By Basic it just means no extras.

We have had a few of these threads recently and the HD25-1 keep coming up. I was in the same boat as the OP and just before Christmas got myself a pair. What can I say, they tick all the rigt boxes and as they aren't overblown at the low end I find I can now hear things I've not heard before, other than outside noise. I work in a print room and these have been a godsend. The only regret I have is that there is a iPhone specific set coming out, with the remote in line, wish I had waited.

[/quote] You could do worse than a Schroeder for this sort of thing. Ive never had any problems with hearing myself (not sure if thats good or bad). They are an acquired taste though. I thought Punk was quite funny. It seemed (mostly) to be a load of youngsters, all dressing in the same style, playing anti establishment music that consisted of 3 chords (I, V, VI). so original. Kids these days have their own hero's which maybe a lot of us older generation cant name, and these are current song writers etc. We will come up with reasons why we cant name them, yet be amazed that the younger gen cant name our hero's. Time moves on.

I think the Streamliner sounds like it does more because of the valve pre amp rather than the power stage.
