1. You could do worse than a quick search on here to find the many, many posts about these basses already After owning basses costing 3 or 4 times more Im down to just two CV's now and very happy to use them as my only gigging basses. Thats not to say they are better, just good enough to use in any situation.
2.
Sorry I don't understand what Dibs means, care to explain thanks!
It means stake a claim for something. So if you get rid of it he wants the first offer.
3. Wow, what's this doing in the iBass magazine sub forum? Should get it moved to a relevant one like amps and cabs forum so more people will see it.
4. Doh, sorry, i meant Ben, not Mike (i was reading another post just before making mine) Thanks for your reply, ive got the app so all ready to go. Ill probably get a years sub anyway, im sure its a good read.
5. Never really bothered with Bass mags but this looks interesting. Ill maybe wait and see if there are any back issues/article i can have a look at first but the price seems very reasonable compared to most in this format. Mike. If i download the app now will there be some form of notification in it if you do manage to get some samples up?
6.
The door doesn't open all the way or enough to hit the basses, there is a stop in place at the bottom.
Ah, thats why there was a Sue Ryder bass on the floor by the door
7. Sorry my comment has derailed your thread Fran. Appreciate the help though and its always good to see Marlow.
8. Cheers for the tips Fran, ill practice every night until im good enough to annoy everyone at next years Bass show :-) EDIT: Regarding the photo's, no nee dot use a slow shutter speed with flash, dont worry what the meter is telling you before you take the shot, the Flash will provide enough light to correct the exposure most of the time (i assume you were in Manual mode).
9. And now Fran has to teach me the dark art of.........slapping :-0
10. Lovely collection, and I got to play them all :-) Nice sharp pic's Fran.
11. Agree with Lozz, Schroeders (or at least mine) seem to have two sounds. The close up/standing in front almost bland sound, and the huge/loud room shaking 20ft in front sound. i was quite disappointed in my 1210R when i first got it. Very middy and not much low end, then i went for a wander out front at a soundcheck one night. Almost a completely different tone. Slightly less mids but more low end and to my ears a warmer more balanced tone. Still not a conventional tone to my ear's but ive never struggled to be heard using just one cab.
12. I'd love one of these cabs, congrats on winning it.
13. I think that was true of the ones made before 2008 but from then on ive only (mostly) read good things about the 5 string Fenders, it seems 2008 was a good year all round for Fenders.
14. I think that's the same place we played a few years ago. It was the opening night of a club night, put on my an Indian guy IIR. Huge Indian buffet, loads of staff and no more than 10 guests in the place, and 4 of thoese we winners of a local radio station competition so they didnt pay. Worst run gig I've even been to. To make matter worse the door staff were turning people, away by the end of the night as I think everyone had had enough and was going home. On the upside it turned out the sound guy (Mick) was an old friend of my drummers dad, and a few months later got us out of the poo when our PA speakers sacked up at a wedding. Oh, and your set list looks perfect for the type of night it was supposed to be.
15.
I have an invisible one for £30.
I had one of those but cant find it now :-(
16. I love whats left of my CVP. Other than a new neck, new bridge, new pup, new pick guard, new pots and wiring its pretty much stock :-) Seriously though, i wanted a Jazz neck as i dont get on with P necks much so its nothing against the CV neck, just that i wanted something different. For a while i had my CV Jazz neck on it but when i started using the Jazz i had to put it back on. I also dont like 20mm string spacing so replaced the bridges on both basses but both were very playable straight out of the box. I think the workmanship on these basses is incredible, especially considering the cost and im more than happy to display the word Squier on the head stock.
17.
Lots of Streamliner love here. Remember, one of the keys to this amp is never to be afraid to roll the lows off...
Its seems its almost obligatory to roll of the lows
18. No problem, i hope i can help. We arent open over the weekend but once i get the info ill pass it on and try and get you a good price.
19. Ill definitely be purchasing one or two more, probably in "summer" colours but a black or grey with orange would be great. Regarding the stickers. I work for a small printers and might be able to help. If you want to PM me some details i can pass it on to our Litho dept and see if they can help. We are only a very small company so so it could be that we work out too expensive but if you want me to look in to it let me know. This is our website http://www.oldacres.co.uk
20. My new Polo shirts arrived today, thanks Chris.. I actually prefer this one over the custom ones as I love the black and orange colour scheme. So, thats two Polo's and one grey/orange T's (that i cant really get in to) ive got now. Funny thing is i noticed that since last Thursday ive been wearing bass related tops, without actually realising it until today. I've also got a TalkBass T, a nice T from Burtons that's got a bass on it, a bass clef T and i had on one of my sons "my Dad plays bass" tops.. Bloody hell, has my mid life crises has started?. Still, its cheaper than buying basses.
21.
That's about the top and bottom of it. The most expensive things I've ever bought are houses, and never ever have I met or spoken to the seller!
I assume you looked at the house and went through some sort of trusted agent or bank? What happens when something goes wrong? Done doesn't mean finished if the bass (no idea where houses and cars came from, or why) has faults. While this has nothing to do with the post count topic i really envy those who live in this perfect world and every thing they buy, unseen is perfect.
22.
I don’t get this at all?, perhaps I’m missing something?
Well only that this is my opinion and no one elses ;-)
23. I just noticed Soundslive have these on pre order. At £44 i think ill give them a miss for now http://www.soundsliv...33~ID~16964.asp
24.
He's he the fella that did that awful "stop the cavalry" song that they keep playing round Christmas ?
LOL, must have changed his name to avoid being hit by music lovers.
25. Buying almost any bass means you are buying something a big name player uses, but buying a sig version is normally because of the way its been customised. The way i look at sig basses is just that they have something different from the usual line, that may or may not be an improvement. My Duck Dunn was a fantastic find as i wanted a P with a blocked Jazz neck and this fitted the bill, i didnt care whose name was on it. Same with my DJ5 (in fact i had to look him up)
