Loved the video, i love this sort of stuff, hearing it as it was played rather than over produced. And i thought she looked sexier dressed like that than most of the cosutmes she wears. Just saying

USB audio interface or new soundcard?
dave_bass5 replied to dave_bass5's topic in Accessories and Misc
Yes, its the black one. As i have all the software already im happy to pay less and get less, as long as it works as advertised. I used to have a V-amp, great little unit. I did my last demo using it. It did start to go funny after a while, all the presets went haywire. I did replace the battery but it didnt seem to last long. -
[sub]Hi, is there another set of screws showing at the very back of the bridge? Don't remember there being anything like that on mine? Maybe a variation?[/sub]
They look like holes for stringing the bass through the body to me. Never seen one like that before, maybe a custom job. Edit: Come to think of it im sure my old one had those holes as well, i just didnt have a string through body.

USB audio interface or new soundcard?
dave_bass5 replied to dave_bass5's topic in Accessories and Misc
Funny ehough ive also found a cheap (lol) copy of it for £12 on Amazon. Its even cheaper and probably nastier but for £12 i dont mind givnig it a go. It wont get moved and will stay plugging in all the time so hopefully it will do the trick. The USB on my PC can be a bit funky sometimes, that why i dont want to go the whole USB audio system route at the moment. -
Totally agree with you. I also find when someone tells me this is a new break through, better than anytihng thats gone before it etc etc i tend to switch off.
I am impressed by the level of marketing bullshit and pseudo-science twaddle in the first video!
What, you mean you dont believe its "better"? He sounded so convincing to me. If Sterling says its better you know its better.

Only if you slap it ;-) I hope its not dangerous as im sure i had some in ear heaphones that used it

Might give them ago if they arent too expensive. The second video looks good in 3D :-)

USB audio interface or new soundcard?
dave_bass5 replied to dave_bass5's topic in Accessories and Misc
Thanks Gareth. That looks like a pretty neat unit. Its not really what im looking for though. Ive had a few bad experienecs with full blown USB interfaces so i'd rather keep my 24/96 or another internal card as the system sound card and just use USB to get the bass in to it. -
2012 NAMM Markbass products - finally they listened!
dave_bass5 replied to Musicman20's topic in Amps and Cabs
FOR CRYING OUT LOUD! I think you are right. I bet the footswitch is £150.00. Well, that takes that out of the running unless its amazingly well prices like £550.
Well it looks like it offers a bit more than the F1, and we know how much that costs. I doubt it will be under £700 but i could be wrong. -
It seems that not getting a new LM3 was perhaps a good idea. Check www.markbass.it and download their 2012 brochure! A very small 500W digital amp, with aux/headphone in and a MUTE! My word...a MUTE!!!! It's good to see them catch back up. Interested to know the price!
It looks to me like the mute is footswitch only unless im missing something. Give with one hand and take with the other? -
USB audio interface or new soundcard?
dave_bass5 replied to dave_bass5's topic in Accessories and Misc
Thanks Mike, i had only brifly looked at that, thought it looked a bit cheap but if you have seen good reviews i think thats going to be ideal. It does seem to tick all the right boxes, especially having 64 bit ASIO drivers. I might order one tomorrow.
In the past I have used the singstar mic adapter to usb thingy no real reason to try except it was there and thought I would . 1/4 to 3.5 cable and jobs done. with having kids it might even be in the house already and worth a try . (If I could I would try the wireless adapter but I'm banned from taking the screwdriver to the wireless mics )
Thanks, good suggestion but i dont have any of that gear at home anymore. The kids were never really in to it so we sold it. I just dont want to start having to mess around with drivers, especially not the ASIO4all drivers as they might mess up my M-Audio drivers (they did before), the one Mike suggested seems to have proper drivers so should work alongside the soundcard. -

Maybe you shouldn't have sold your F1 last year Clarky ;-) Let me know if you want to borrow it for a few gigs. -
USB audio interface or new soundcard?
dave_bass5 replied to dave_bass5's topic in Accessories and Misc
Thanks Mike, if you mean the Behringer UCA222 U-Control Ultra-Low Latency 2 In/2 Out USB Audio Interface thats on my short list already. EDIT: I should add that as its phono in its not eactly what im after, although better than what i have at the moment. -
Ive owned a M-audio 24/96 for about 5 years, never had any problems with until recently. The issue im having is the phono in's are about to fall off the circut bored. I tend to plug a lead in to one of them and play my bass in to the PC, normally using something like GuitarRig or the Markbass software. The input level isnt really loud enough to keep everything running at the optimal S/N ratio but its worked so ive been happy. Ive just been looking at the Lindy USB lead and this looks ideal, but im wondering what the latency will be like. Failing that i might just dump the sound card and get a new one. So, my questions are 1. Anyone use the Lindy? Im not asking for opinions on what peopel think it "might" be like, just from people who have used it. Im not looking for studio quality, just a way of getting my bass in to the PC with little or no noise and delay. 2. Failing the above, any recomendations for a new sound card that will do the job of the 24/96 but with a more guitar friendly input level. Max budget is £50, less if possible. I do have small mixers etc but i want something that doesnt need any extra PSU or needs more than two leads in total, including my bass lead so i dont want to go this route. Cheers.

Althouh i dont have either a Mac or the Apogee one (i do have the Jam for my ipad) looking at the blurb for it it does seem like you use it as both in and out, so yes, your headphones will get all the Mac audio out as well as the input. In effect the interface becomes the Mac's sound card so you will get the full mix of whats going on. Not sure about the latency but as its designed for this sort fo thing i doubt you will get anything thats noticable.

Glad it arrived ok, it was pure luck i had that box at work. Ill PM you later about the Wizards.
-
Im just watching his icanplayit.com videos and have to admit he doesn't strike me as arrogant as i first thought, Pretty casual and down to earth bloke really.
-
I've had this for agood few months but just cant get on with it. I've just got a Apogee Jam to replace this so rather than just have it sit around i thought i should try and sell it. It works perfectly (as far as i can see with such little use) and i still have the box etc. Its in very good condition and has been well looked after, mainly by my socks in my sock drawer. Looking for £12 inc postage to mainland UK only, £10 for a pick up from central london. No offers though, i think its well worth the asking price. Cheers.

Talking of the book, if anyone wants my copy of it to read and then maybe pass on get in touch. I know there is already a book or two doing the rounds but i know ill never read my hard copy of it, not now i have the iBooks version. No charge of course. @3rdUncle. Yep, very jealous of what he has done in his life but i would never knock his talent.
