1.
Agree with the museum tips - but a recent visit to the NHM on a weekend meant lots of queues both outside an in, and very busy inside. (Don't go in the main front door of the NHM btw. There is a lesser-known entrance on the east side, on Exhibition Road. If you get to the Science Museum when approaching from South Ken tube, you've gone too far)
Isnt there a doorway that connects both museums? I know there used to be but thats going back years.
2.
And could be quite painful when you rip them off !
Thats probably not a negative for some people
3. I live just off the Southbank so all my suggestions are based on this area. If you do go to on the Eye (definitely recommended) you also have the London Aquarium just next door. A bit further along you get to the South bank center. Not much happening at the moment along there but its a really nice walk if the weathers good. Other things to try are the Duck Tours, this a quite a nice experience, especially the river section. Its a trip around the center of london in a amphibious vehicle, so it takes in the road and part fo the River Thames. Some other attractions in this area are here http://www.london-se1.co.uk/attractions/
4.
I emailed planet waves with the question "does this work well with bass guitars, and particulalry on a low B on a 5-string". I recieved a rather comprehensive response that I thought I'd share: "why yes it does. works great on my lap steel ,mandolin etc.. as well. thanks George Santos" Not sure what else I was expecting to be honest....
Well at least you know if or when you get a mandolin you wont post any silly questions in this thread
5. Have bump for a fantastic amp. I had a LMII and now use one of these. I find the low end to have a bit more punch, its a bit faster and clearer than the LMII so sounds bit more defined. Some say not as warm, thats probably right in a home setting but ive not noticed it at gigs. I do find i dont need to turn it up as much as my old Class A/B MB heads.
6. I think there was a thread about this guy on here recently, unless there's more than one player who plays like this.
7.
Surely spell check is a system wide thing and shouldn't be affected by either browser choice or the site you are visiting?
You would think but thats not the case. For a start IE8/9 (in fact all versions) have never come with a spell checker, so 3rd party add ons have always been needed, and i believe its the same for FF although its a bit easier to sort out. IE9 was working fine but not FF9. FF10 seems to have fixed whatever compatibility issue was stopping the spell checker from working on here.
8.
I'll take no less than fifty. Sorry mate, but I'm afraid for me it is all about the money money money
did they come fresh out of the drawer or out of the wash basket? That will determine their value
9. Just seen this new stomp box for ipad/phone etc. Pretty cool idea. I could see this getting used live, more so than the full blown amp sims. http://digitech.com/en-US/products/istomp
10. Looks like its working again. Well done someone.
11. After another listen i think i do recall hearing it last year, it wasn't it used for a TV add?, maybe thats where i heard it. I never listen to the radio (at least not one that plays the current stuff) and my kids arent fans so im pretty much out of touch with who sings what these days.
12.
I am confused by when you say the current Mrs Discreet. Only last week I met three young ladies who claimed to be the current Mrs Discreet
Im sure you also made this claim a few months ago over on Gimpchat
13.
Yep, we all know he lives alone with his pet goat called billy
So it was you peeping in the window last night, didnt recognise you because you had that mask on
14. Unfortunately i didn't actually take any, but im working on it ;-)
15. Ive got Gotoh 201's on both my Squiers and i love them. They look and feel better to me, compared to the BBOT and vintage style bridges. Cant say i noticed ant tone change but then i was coming from high mass bridges anyway. Funny enough i needed a Gotoh 201 to get a decent action when i changed necks on my P, as the new one as a bit higher and the standard HM bridge couldn't get the stings up high enough.
16. Never heard of it until i clicked on the youtube link. I quite like it but cant see my band ever doing it.
17. Had a (nice) shock yesterday. The GF put mine on after getting out of the bath. It looked much better on her ;-). And no, there will be no pics..
18.
I wish Schroeder still had a distributor.
I got my first one direct from Jorg. Still worked out cheaper than buying over here.
19. I had two and loved them (both for free, big cock up on Music YO's side). Probably the nicest 5 strings i had played up to that point. I traded the second one for a 4 string Honer but didn't keep it long. Nice as it was i just didn't get on with it, plus it was active and i wasnt too keen on that. I felt the passive EMG's sounded nicer. Tone wise i was very happy with the XT-25, i quite like the EMG Selects. Ive still got a white 4 string Spirit XZ2, (the one with the conventional body shape) and that too has the EMG select's and it sounds very nice.
20.
Try pedalling the F at the end (Nahhh na na) of the tune over the Eb major nd the Bb major. Much more fun.
There's a great bass line over the end in the Love version. whenever we do hey Jude thats always the highlight for me. Oooo, just noticed the spell checking is now working again in firefox.
21. Play that funky music. Although i can play it fine we just dont gell as a band (quite the opposite) and its one of the most painful experiences of each gig.
22. Just sold Stevie my iRig. We agreed the sale in the evening and money was in my account when I woke up next morning. Pleasure to do business with and wouldn't hessitate to send goods first if needed. Cheers Stevie, have fun with it.
23.
Dude got up at 5am to drive it to bristol the next day, an paid for the time the driver spent hanging about, his parents told him they'd be in, then decided to go out.
Fair play to him. I guess these things happen.
24.
Driver was fairly up for ramraiding the place.
What did happen in the end?
25. yep, case closed. Good luck with it.
