1.
I'm lost here. You pay £1500 for a bass and they don't deliver what was ordered.
No, he got exaclty the one he ordered, its just that the quality isnt up to scratch.
2. I think in 5 years time people will be replacing the fender logo with Squier as it will be a sign of quality to have Squier on the headstock. Could be wrong of course
3. Bloody hell Gareth, its not been a good week. I Hope your GF is ok, send her my (I'm sure all of our) best wishes. Keep us posted about the bass. At least things are moving, lets hope this is all resolved quickly.
4.
Can you go to prision if you murdered him after that last statement?
Not if its a drummer.
5. Drummer to me "at least know the songs and keep it all together". Normally met with a stern look or a (virtual) fork in the neck.
6. When i got my Duck Dunn last year it had a Hanson in it and it had red and black wires. Dave's right about the cloth wires being Fralins. I did change both pups in my DJ5 but cant remeber the colours.
7. Cheers Gareth, thats cleared it up for me. I hope you get some wheels in motion before the weekend.
8. Maybe im missing something but i cant see a problem with the body being old. It might have been sitting in a stock room waiting for an order to come in. Im pretty sure the bodies and necks wont be made together. Not commenting on the other issues, just the date on the body. Just thinking out aloud.
9.
I think it's awful that folks should be too scared to post anything on that Ernie's Balls forum slightly negative even with legitimate reason for fear of the repercussions from a pack of feral fanboys or how "the Führer" might react. Not a healthy way to do business, smacks a bit of Nazi Germany if you ask me...
I think its more a case of not worth it as the posts will be deleted and the poster banned. Just a waste of time. Ive seen someone get told off by a mod just for talking about another manufactures strings and comparing them to EB's.
10. On the subject of custom orders, when i was looking for a Fender P5 i found quite a few websites 9some were real shops) offering it but none had it in stock. I called a few and was told they could get me one but i couldn't send it back as it was a custom order. I never put it to the test as i didnt think that was right so went elsewhere. Im pretty sure you will be ok though. The distance selling law is to allow you the same options as if you were to open the box in a shop and not like it.
11. Gareth, for your health and sanity i really think you should call Strings and Things rather than just waiting it out. There could be many reasons they haven't replied to your email and you have no way of knowing when they will.
12.
Finally ordered some green ones. When they get here I shall load them onto my Status Streamline (if I can find the little grub screws for use with normal strings). The bass has green LEDs too. Should look disgusting!!!
That should look very sick......im mean slick :-) Ive recently brought some Black beauties. im not sure how they directly compare with the Neons but i dont like these either. I think they both feel a bit brittle.
13.
but you can always draw some comfort from hearing what most US Fender buyers have to go through to get a good one
Thing is Gareth is one of those as well, poor sod ;-(
14.
Put it this way, if I was spending £1500+ again,
it would be on a trip to Florida ;-). Just get a refund and blow it on a holiday, you've got enough good basses now.
15.
. But I think it's a credit to yourself after all the cock ups you can remain so calm. I don't know if I could !!!
Nor me. If i was in this situation i wouldn't even be waiting for an answer (as i wouldn't know if it was the truth anyway), i would just send it back, get a refund and try something else.
16. Gareth, after the way the buzzing preamp was handled i would do as Ewan suggested and give up for now. I cant see you getting satisfaction without a lot more hassle and i think you have had more than your fair share of that. Save yourself a bit of money and maybe look for second hand on here, at least these are tried and tested. The neck pocket gap is slightly worse than my CVP (when it was stock), I know it wont affect playability or tone but your right to expect it to be spot on.
17.
I really feel for you, there are no excuses for that kind of finish at that price. Actually at any price point that is not acceptable, I have recently aquired a CV Precision and the execution of finish and neck pockets ect is flawless. Sadly I cannot say the same of various mass produced American made basses costing four times as much. My Stingray V is very good but I have seen some shockers. I hope you get it resolved, sounded like a belter of a bass too, lovely colour choice.
Im the same. I tried 3 MIA jazz basses, a MIM 70's classic and a HW-one Jazz last year and all had issues that my CV Jazz didnt. Not big issues, but at three times the price i found it unacceptable on the MIA's.
18. So not much better than the other Ray you had issues with. Not good.
19. This doesn't sound good. Let us know what happens (and whats wrong with it). I feel for you, after all the crap you have been through lately this is just not on. Send it back, get a refund and move on.
20. You could try one of these. I use one connected to my PC and it works extremely well. it runs for ages and charges over USB. The only downside is the mini jack input so you would need an adaptor. It does have a bass boost but you can disable it. 21. Its a real shame Squier dont do a CV jazz neck in maple. I too would love one for my CV Jazz. Ive just put a maple Lakland neck on my CVP but had it on the CV Jazz for about an hour, it looked stunning. I was tempted by the Matt Freeman but i really dont get on with P necks.
22.
Finally someone who doesn't sing about the MM4.2 I think it's a nice pickup, but didn't love mine, it felt a bit "bland" like you said. I prefer the Seymour Duncan version
I think the bass definitely lost some of its character. I know its a personal thing and lots of people love this pup. To be honest i didnt mind too much, and there were also benefits so i kept it in. I also had Nordy's fitted to my Lakland DJ5 when i turned it in to a PJ, and i felt the same about those pups.
23.
What, lHawaiian steel guitars?
I was going to say electric piano's
