Ive just brought a Lakland JO neck off another member, with the intention of getting it on my CVP. I realise its not going to be a quick fit as i believe Lakland have smaller neck pockets on their basses but im hoping the holes will at least line up. If they do (and all indication says they will) im going to have a gap around the heel. I'd rather not spend too much getting it sorted so im after suggestions as to what i can do about it. I guess a shim will be a good idea, can i use card like i would under the neck? If its all tightened down do i even need to bother with the gap? I realise if the neck gets bumped it could go out of alignment but will the sustain and tone be affected much? Cheers for any help, ive swapped necks before but always like for like (ie Fender for Fender)

Ive just noticed my PM's seem a bit harder to read, especially ones with a few replies in them. It looks like the different replies within the PM are just separated by the word Quote. Am i missing something?, will this be refined at all? EDIT: It seems like its just the old PM's not converted properly, the new ones seem to be fine.

Well done to all those involved. So far i like the new layout, it seems to fit my wide screen monitor better and looks less cluttered. I also like the mobile version, again, nice and clean and a bit easier to use (so far).

Now i have a F1 i can get it, along with everything else other than bass and cab in to a small DELL laptop bag. More protection and it didnt cost me anything as i found it in a skip.

I had one of the larger MB bags for my SA450, paid about £85 and it was rubbish. It has holes at each end for the vents but these also let in rain if you have the bag on your back/shoulder. I also found the zip on the front pocket to rip after a few months.

My Squier CV weighs just over 8lbs (and only cost £280), thats more than light enough for a 3 hour gig, at least for me. In fact any lighter and it just wouldn't feel right.

It might suit him![/quote] Fair enough, it might suit him although it looks nothing like the JM/PM he was asking about, which of course are Fender clones. Each to his/her own. My comment about it was purely from my point of view, based on the look. I have never had an issue with any Fender type basses being hard or uncomfortable to wear for long periods of time, and i think any of those extended top horn basses look like you have a penis 12" from your mouth ;-)

Sorry, not a particularly interesting shot but this is my band playing at my girlfriends 40th birthday party. As it was her night we allowed her to sing the first set. She is a great singer and front person and we are hoping to get a band together next year (we met when playing in the same band). Before anyone asks, yes, there was food there so no, im not eating my pick, nor had i lost it, nope, i dont play with it in my mouth etc etc :-), it was just here as i was trying some finger style playing. and this was at one of our Social club gigs Both shots were taken by our son

Nicest looking bass ive ever played was a Blackburst Cali PM5. I almost brought it but a Lakland won me over. One day i will definitely own one although it would have to be a custom as i dont like the look of the plain fretboard.

You do get different styles of plug, although they should all be the same fit, ive found that some are better than others, plus some have a groove down the middle. You dont need that type although they should work ok. You can also get high power rated ones but ive never needed to use one like that. I just get the standard ones from Maplins and these seem to work ok. As far as wiring goes its just the usual 2 or 3 wires, just like a mains plug. A few things ive brought have had those moulded plugs on them, i just cut them off and put a kettle plug on the end.

[/quote] After owning a couple fo basses that have had tuners on the underside of the headstock, and finding myself hitting them on various surfaces, and going out of tune, im glad Leo decided to put them on the top side of the headstock, where they have a bit more protection.

Yep, ive done it on a few devices over the years, and all our lights have them on now so we can link them up.
