I dont feel comfortable with all this. If i brought a new cab and it didnt work (again) i would insist on a new one that did, or a refund. If the cab has to travel to London, sit in a workshop and then travel back who knows how long that will take and what damage it might receive (not at the Gallery of course). I would expect at least a loaner cab while it was away.
Just to reiterate, these really are very good basses. Don't let the fact it's a Squier put you off, mine is a perfect weight and balance, absolutely sings, is really well put together. At this price what's not to like?
Its a lovely bass. While not as flash as some higher end basses these (based on my CV's) are good solid workable basses. Having owned 3 Lakland Duck Dunn's in the past my CV P is every bit as playable, has no build defects and sounds like a P bass. Why pay more?
but it will still be all Epi rather than part Maplin...
Both probably come form the same factory in china ;-) I do understand though. When i had my UL212 i ended up having to plug most of the handle screw holes and replaced both drivers (it went from a series I to a series II), all within the first month or so of owning it. It was a brand new cab but just didn't feel like it after i had done that work.
I’m glad the problem has been identified. Talk to Alex. He might be able to come up with a solution which means you don't have to drive 400 miles.
Yeah, if Epifani are footing the bill im sure there will be no need to drive anywhere.
Checked it over with a jack-jack last night and there's definately a faulty speakon. Had very speedy email response from Nick Epifani, he's sending over some replacement speakon connectors to the Gallery who'll do the repair and Epifani will pick up the tab... Just need to work out how to get it from Sheffield to London and back before my next practice...
Glad you got it sorted. I did tell you they look ok on the outside didnt I ;-). So your going to be without your cab for a while eh? Thats not good and i would insist on a fully working replacement cab being sent out to you and the old one picked up at the same time, at no expense to yourself. I dont think its the end of the world that one connector isnt working, its still working if you need it but i would be more hacked off if i didnt have it when i needed it. Do they really need to send connectors all the way from the USA? Cant they be sourced locally today? I wonder how many other people have this issue without knowing it. It unbelievable that its not just your cab but others sitting in a shop wait to be sold. So much for going boutique.

LOL, loads of owners and talk about them on here. Totally agree with you, fantastic basses. Ive sold off all my more costly basses and now just have two CV's........for now ;-)

Ive used gift a few times at the sellers insistence on here. I know about the lack of insurance but didnt know it was banned.

Markbass...do I regret selling thee and want to buy another?!
MB is like crack cocaine, you think you can kick it, but it just niggles in the back of your mind and one day when your guard is down you try one again somewhere, usually for free for the first couple of goes whilst they reestablish your GAS, and then BAM you're in over your head and in need of going cold turkey for a monthy or two to get over it all........
Yep. After all these years playing MB and feeling a bit stuck in a rut as far as amps go i got my Streamliner, and sold my SA450. When i thought i didnt like the Streamliner as much as i expected to i borrowed Clarky's F1, with the intention of doing a straight swap onc ei had tried it out on a gig. Once i had it in my hands and then plugged it in i realised i must have it, but also liked the Streamliner again so ended up with both. Now the Streamliner is going and im back to MB. I give up. -

I think the Ferrari F1 special was just a red LMII although i could be wrong. -

As you know Gareth, ive gone back to MB, albeit a new (to me) F1 rather than the older class A/B heads. I did get to compare both my SA450 and F1, both running flat at one gig during sound check. It was just me playing through my rig while i waited for the others to turn up so not really in a band situation, but at gig levels. To my ears while the SA450 was a very tiny bit thicker, or warmer, in the low end, the F1 has a bit more punch and clarity to it, while still having that nice warm MB tone and still plenty of low end. Both the Streamliner and F1 were the first class D heads ive used, and both came along almost at the same time, and while each has its own character i dont think ill miss the Class A/B heads. I dont regret selling my LMII and SA450, but i do wish a F500 had come along instead of the F1.
For me it's the high and low mids on separate controls I miss.
Same here. While the Streamliner has a nice EQ section i feel its a bit limiting having just the one mid control. I love the filters on the MB heads and although you can get them in pedal form i prefer them in the head.
So much so that I have already priced up a MarkBass F1 head with a MarkBass Traveller 1x 15 and 2 x 10. Its a slippery slope I know
when i can track a F500 down ill be selling my F1. Just a FYI. -
I have just emailed Epifani and copied Alex at the Gallery in too in case it's a dicky batch...(which seems a little odd!)
Good luck, lets hope this gets sorted one way or the other. Im pretty sure my 2 UL's would allow me to use either, i certainly dont recall ever having to use a certain socket on either cab. Maybe the changed the design. My issues were well documented so ill just say both cabs looked great on the outside but on closer inspection the UL212 seemed to have been made by a child in a dark room. The 112 i had farted too much, even at bedroom levels (i got that from the Gallery but Alex was great about taking it back and i ended up with a UL115, no issues with that ever) They are great cabs though and i do lust after another UL115
-
Ive had 2 UL cabs, both poorly made, but as Dave says, the two sockets are identical and will be connected together (or in your case, maybe not). Its probably a loose wire, nothing major.
Hmm. You won't name the guy who took your money but failed to fix the problem, but you named Ray Cooper who was honest enough to tell you up-front that he couldn't help with the problem. I'd suggest that the first guy is the one to avoid in future and that Ray Cooper sounds like he's honest and straightforward enough to say if he can help with a problem - up-front and for free.

Last week I spent £50 sending it to a tech to get the bass fully copper shielded and have the wiring checked. This did not fix the problem. Having spoken to him again today he has basically said he can't do anything else but is happy to keep my money having not fixed the problem (he will remain nameless)
The first guy did the work asked of him. Shielded and wiring checked. As already pointed out, if its not the shielding and the wiring is fine then the guy did his job and should be paid. If it turns out the work was faulty then i think thats a different story of course. Thats how i see it anyway.
