1.
Simonon comes across very nicely there.
Yeah, no ego there whatsoever. Good interview and nice vid. Thanks merello
  2. Well this one has 4 (3+1) so thats one up on the Streamliner. That cab does look a bit different. I still wouldn't buy one but it looks like its been designed to be seen (maybe on TV shows
  3. I wasn't intending to sit through the whole program but i did and enjoyed some of it. There was one moment when, for the first time ever, me and my 15 year old son actually agreed on something to do with music. I said i cant stand Kasabian and he said "someone should throw a car at the singer". kids eh? Not as clueless as people make them out to be.
  4. I just noticed this head on the MB website. Looks quite interesting, especially with a Tube compressor in it Interesting how its got a tube preamp and also a tube emulator for the power section. MB TTE-500
  5. I just think the EBMM. Forums are really jus to praise thier instruments, they aren't really open forums lime this and TB. As long as people realise this I dont think they will have any issues there. I guess if a problem does arise with one of thier instruments they would rather it be delt with in private. Understandae I guess.
  6.
If I had paid for a brand new bass of that calibre and it had some wiring errors ilke the OPs had I would definitely post on the manufacturer's forum, to see if anyone else had the issue and also to see if it was something of a common problem. Of course I would also contact the shop I bought it from.
I got the impression the poster was talking about posting about the problem and the storm just happening, rather than purposely going out of his to start it.
  7.
One of my bass buddies in the US had similar grief over there, they take their love of all things MM very seriously. I'd stay clear, much safer on here, generally.
Been there and have seen for myself how they react to anything negative. You cant even talk about strings on there if they aren't my by EBMM.
  8.
Oooo, yeah - forgot that one...
To be honest im still not overly impressed with it, but maybe im more a MB/SS man. Its a great head but quite different to what im used to.
  9.
If you're considering the Tube or the Rocker, be sure and try out (if you possibly can) the Shuttles, the TC stuff and even the new Ampeg mini head before you part with your wonga. Not a bad head in that list there, but your ears may well surprise you and pick a favourite.
I also suggest trying a Genz Benz Streamliner out. With a three tube pre amp this head is getting a lot of rave reviews for its tube tone.

    Bands Wanted
I think that'd be a gig to get the whole London crowd in for! Three basschat bands, one night? I could try and organise something longer if you think it'd work, during the day we have bassmeet:london and then in the evening we have you three playing? Perfect?
Yep. As i live in the area i'd love to come along, although most Friday and Sat's im out gigging myself. EDIT: Oh bugger. I didnt read the end of the last page. I guess its all been knocked on the head then. Michael, sorry to hear about your gig. What a shame and very frustrating. Some things never change by the looks of it.
  11.
Gig bag here too. You can get more stuff in it & it leaves the hands free for carrying the rig to the bus stop Pete.
+1. I find hard cases too cumbersome for travelling on public transport, especially with a suit bag. Ive yet to find the prefect gig bag, for the past 5 years ive used a very, very, cheap Levys bag that came with my old HW1. The reason being its very compact (lack of padding) but more importantly it hangs on my shoulder. Being just over 6ft i dont want to wear the bag like a ruck sack and so prefer to have the bag hanging off my shoulder so the top is still below head height. Like Ross, mine is just laid on top of the rest of the gear in the back of the car. The other bags i love are the EBMM shaped bags but the pockets are pretty small on those. I do have a Warwick Rockbag which is great, much nicer and well padded but hardly ever use it.
  12. I wouldn't go over the top with changing things. If this was just to get a bite of the P bass apple then no matter how much you spend on it you will still want a bigger bite IMO and more likely to buy a Fender sooner rather than later. Maybe upgrade the pup and tuners if they bother you or you want a different tone but leave it at that unless something isnt working as it should.
  13.
No more so than a lot of the other posters in the thread.
Yeah, ive seen much ruder posts over the last few weeks on here. Considering the posts early on in this thread im finding it hard to believe some of the stories of rudeness. Considering Kens reputation i think he has been very restrained.
  14.
guess where I'm going next time I need something.
The Classifieds section on here
  15. Ive been gigging MB heads for about 5 years. Mostly a SA450 but occasionally a LMII with another band. For me the best MB tone ive had was with a BDDI in front of it. Although i loved the SA450 i felt it could sound a bit bland sometimes, but adding a bit of BDDI in made the world of difference and i expect more so than just having a tube in the pre amp. Maybe worth thinking about. I've never heard anyone complain that a MB head didnt have enough power for any gig (other than maybe the 250watt heads) but choosing the right cab definitely makes a difference. Although people do use MB cabs its really the heads that are popular, the cabs leave a lot of people undecided.
  16. There seem to be quite a few Witch hunt type threads on her recently. It seems some people love to join in and put the boot in without ever having all the facts or hearing both sides. These people make their own mind up very early on in the thread and you wont change their minds. After reading Ken's replies i must admit i was a bit surprised at how clam and down to earth they are. Not the picture i had in my head based on the posts up until Ken started posting. I think Ken has been pretty calm about all this, no ranting or raving like i had expected. Just saying.
  17.
Right then I've known about this for over a year it's a month away and today I have started to properly learn the songs *idiot*. Bass wise I'm going to use the P and the EBMM Sterling.
LOL, i guess you like to be Under pressure ;-) I dont think its such a bad thing to start cramming it all in now. If you had started a year ago you may well either be fed up with them or forgotten them and have to relearn them. Saying that, i hope you have plent of ospare time over the next month. Have you got printed music to work with or just off CD? Good luck with it.
  18. Played a wedding at Hever Castle yesterday. Me and the drummer arrived a hour early (4pm) and we didn't start playing until 10.15pm. Bloody long day but the grounds of the castle are really nice, and the sun was out for the afternoon so i spent a lot of the time taking photos of plants and ducks. Gig was good, i enjoyed using my Streamliner. Its growing on me. Good crowd although it thinned out quite quickly as a lot of them were old folk. I had a go at the drummer at the end of the gig. Why is it some drummer just dont get dynamics and have to hit the bloody things so hard. And his reason for doing it.....I couldn't hear anything. Yeah, that makes perfect sense. He is one of those drummers that over plays at the start of the night and tires himself out too early. Then he makes up for it by making a lot of noise to cover the lack of steady rhythm. Sorry, rant over, i know we have done this to death but wanted dot get it off my chest. Even the others mentioned it, so it must have been bad. Social club tonight with a big stage, at least i can distance myself from him.
  19.
+1 for cv60 - I've had one for a week and I'm fast becoming a cv60 bore. t's a very cheap way of dipping a toe in 'p' waters without sacrificing on sound or kwalidee too much.
Nothing boring about educating, and saving people money. Its not the best P in the world but its certainly good enough to pass as a good P bass, and at a lower price point than its peers. The MIA's do look really nice though, and if they had vintage frets i'd buy one without hesitating.
  20. Ive got wizards in both my basses. Lovely pups. I found 84's to have a bit less sparkle than i hoped so i got Andy to custom wind me some 74's. These have the punch of the 84's but with a more open top end. For what its worth i never liked the stock Lakland pups in my old DJ5 but then i never liked the tone of the DJ5 with Nordstrands either. I should have tried Wizards back then before selling it.
  21.
Is there any website that has all the best 15/6 fEARful etc details in one place ?
There are a few threads on TalkBass about these cabs, might be more info there.
  22.
The only thing I would recommend here is a word of caution to try before you buy if at all possible. F
Definitely, and more so with the small cabs as some can sound quite boxy or too mid scooped. The Schroeders also have a very distinctive sound that not everyone gets on with.
