A guy on TB has already received one. It looks pretty nice in his photos. CV 50's thread
The no markers thing has never for to me but aesthetically I do prefer them definitely. Which Lakland did you opt for Dave?
Yeah, its more aesthetics for me. I just think they look plain without the dots. That day money was no object, i just wanted a good 5 string. I tried everytihng they had in the shop but really fell in love with the PM5. I went back twice to pay it but after seeing the huge gaps under some of the higher frets on the PM5 i ended up getting a 55-01, at half the price. I played 7 of them and they all played so well that it was a hard choice which one to buy. This was at the Bass Centre and probably the last time i was in there. I know you can order Sandbergs with fret markers/inlays etc but im sure these are extras and ive not seen many for sale second-hand with these on, other than a couple of horrible road worn basses (sorry, i hate this look).
Doesn't Matt Freeman play a Tony Franklin signature P bass? What's going on there... That butter P looks so nice. I think it may be ESSENTIAL
Im not a Matt Freeman fan as i'd never heard of him untill this bass was mentioned, but in the interview he did for the Squier website he said his favorite bass is his 70's P (which this is based on) but he never uses it anymore as he is nervius about taking it out. He also metions he has had over 90 basses.
I put off looking at Sandberg's initially because I didn't like the look of them, but I was really stupid to because for the money, you simply cannot get a better bass. They are utterly superb. I would have got one recently had I not just bought a new Lakland.
For me its always been the lack for dots or markers on the fretboard thats put me off. Funny enough in the same day, at the same shop i played my first Sandberg and Lakland, and ended up getting the Lakland.

The first, ans only Sandberg ive every played was a Black burst PM5 and i loved it. I almost brought it but it had neck issues so i passed but i will have one, one day. There were a few doing the rounds on here last year IIR, and the custom model with the block inlays is very, very nice.

Thanks mark. I think im now going to go with what i have for a while. I really dont "need" a new amp and while that never stops us spending money i want to check out the new Matt Freeman Squier P bass first.
-
Mine is a necessity rather than following a trend. If i had a car i wouldn't care what size the amp was but having to travel on public transport, the smaller the better.
Have a word with Mark at Bass Direct... you never know, he might be able to match it. Mind you, I didn't think the 600 had hit these shores yet...?
Cheers WoT. I would call Navada first before ordering anyway but if its in stock then its not really about saving a few £. Bass Direct are saying due in this month on their website, i dont know if they have them or not but if i could get one before this sat i would be very happy.
-
Cheers, I'm sold. I see that Nevada music are advertising them for £569 and in stock. Damn, i could have one before the next gig (if the website is accurate) My SA450 will also be up for sale soon.
-
I really want in. I was all set to get a TC 450 Classic but thats been sold. Ive been looking in to a GB Streamliner until this morning when i noticed the (old) GB Shuttle 6.0 that looks ideal to replace my big and heavy MB SA450 lol. And all this was started by seeing a GKMB500 at the Gallery a few months ago. One day soon i will be a member of the tiny amp gang.

Gallien Krueger fans, have you got an iPad?
dave_bass5 replied to Grand Wazoo's topic in Amps and Cabs
I think the idea is you would have your ipad or iphone etc with you anyway, so by just using the iRig, a lead and bass you have a pretty good rehearsal (or with Garage Band a recording) device. Its not for everyone but if you do use a iPhone it saves having to cart a laptop and audio interface around as well. Great for learning songs or warming up back stage etc. -
Bugger. I knew i shouldn't have clicked on this thread. Ive been thinking of downsizing my MB SA450 9yeah, really) and have been tempted by the few TC 4500 Classics that have been turning up on here, but after seeing this, and hearing the clips WoT has kindly uploaded im now 99% sure ill get a 600 sooner rather than later. I was going to get a new bass but i think after 4 years with the SA450 im ready for amp GAS. The 600 will be more than loud enough and the price seems pretty good compared to the other small heads around at the moment. Anyone care to comment how these sound compared to the MB heads?

As i seem to be messing about with pups at the moment i need to get some more sponge or foam. I'll probably use an old mouse mat so im not asking what to use, but rather if there are any advantages to using Biro springs (for example) over the normal sponge stuff. Cheers.

Wizard Thumper. Anyone Have Trouble Fitting One?
dave_bass5 replied to dave_bass5's topic in Repairs and Technical
I did my first gig with the Fender pup in last night and im in two minds whether to keep it or not. I normally use a BDDI and i couldn't be bothered last night (3 hour wait to set up) and i had my cab at a different angle so i can understand that everything would sound different, i need to give it another go this weekend with my normal set up, but i must say i was a bit underwhelmed with my tone last night. I also felt this way at home through my PC and my usual practice set up. Maybe l liked the Thumper more than i thought. -
Ive also got Wizards (74's) in my CV Jazz and love them. They do change the character of the bass, it now sounds more thumpy but without loosing the growl. Shame this thread started after i put my Wizards back in other wise i would have let the OP borrow them for a while. They wont be coming back out now

OMG, its true. They also have the Matt Freeman. Thats settled it. My next Bass And it seems they are doing it in white as well as black. EDIT: Assuming it has vintage style frets though. The short scale Jags have also been anounced, including one in silver.

I got a new credit card today. 0% for 6 months. Hmmm.

Wizard Thumper. Anyone Have Trouble Fitting One?
so was this on the fiesta red CV Squier? how did you think the pickups compared to the originals?
It was. The I only did one gig with the stock pickup, and to be honest it sounded fine, but the Thumper has a lot more punch to it. It seems quite heavy in the low mids and has a darker overal tone. I've been happy with it but now ive got the Fender in i think its a bit more open sounding and pretty close to the original pup. -
Thomann - Squier Precision Classic Vibe (nice bass!!!)
Nice one dave_bass5, mine started off like yours and after many mods ended up looking like this:
Thanks Fran. I followed your thread and i love the look of your Squier. In fact it was you who told me where to get the pickguard. That neck really sets it apart from the others. I think that PG goes really well with the maple neck. @mcnach. I got the PG from here Axesrus -
