1. I get the reverse. I tend to get emails whenever someone posts in a subscribed thread, even though i haven't visited it since the last one came in. I thought we were only supposed to get the one email until the next visit. I also find that someday's i get a lot of notifications come through at once, sometimes ages after a post has been made.
 2.
I can`t be bothered reading all these posts again, just don`t seem to have the Tim. Did he ever re-appear or did he return to his toadstool at the bottom of the garden? Jez
I heard he dropped an E and was never heard of again
 3. Ooops, i had forgotten i started this yesterday, ive missed out on all the fun. So, none of you have made him an offer yet? Anyone see the other things he has listed? The Toggle surround looks a pretty sweet deal at only £2,469.10.
 4. I saw this add just now but cant imagine anyone would pay this much, not even a collector. Am i wrong? ebay listing Check out the special offer for the screws lol.
 5. Lakland gets my vote as well. I do like the HW-ones though. Ive had 4 over the past 5 years and each one was outstanding (for me). Quite pricey now for what they are though. There is also the new American Special line. A bit like a HW-one but with a more traditional finish. Around the same price IIR. Another good option would be a Squier CV Jazz. much cheaper, no less a capable bass but also doesn't sound like the HW-one Jazz. Or even (dare i say it) a SBMM Ray34 CA. These look pretty good and are getting very good feedback over on TB.
 6.
As was the case with the wireless I bought from Thomann. IIRC, others have had this issue. Not a dealbreaker when everything else is taken into account.
All outr lights have had euro plugs. Not a big deal though.
 7. Not left for tonights gig yet but ive already finished off a large Chicken Doner, 2 rum and cokes and learnt a new song. Rock'n'roll.
 8. Just call whatever company you will use and ask them. Better to be safe than sorry.
 9. when ive sent stuff back to Thomanns ive been told to notify them within 30 days of receiving the order as they have to issue a returns number, i have then had 14 days IIR to send the item back. There was one time where i had a bass for almost 6 weeks before sending it back (i held on to it until the replacement was one its way and that had to be ordered in).
 10.
Another advantage of the EU.
According to what ive just googled the seller doesn't have to refund the postage cost when an item is sent back. The fact that Thomanns do (in fact they just pay it so you dont have any extra outlay) seems pretty decent to me.
 11.
From around 2000 I think
Ah right, thanks. I know Thomanns used to advertise it for just mainland Europe but never realised it extend to us as well.
 12.
It's an EU distance selling regulation thing
How long has this been a standard practice? Ive ordered from a couple of European shops in the past and haven't been told about this.
 13.
Sweet guys, thanks. I tried to get GuitarGuitar to price match or come close (so I could try before I buy) but they dragged their heels. Its a £80 difference so i think it'll be a Thomann purchase!
Ive dealt with Thomanns quite a few times over the past 5-6 years and IME they have offered the best service of any music shop ive used. They offer a no questions asked 30 day money back guarantee and it wont cost you anything to return the goods. All you do is email or call them, tell them you want to return something and they issue you with a returns number and labels and you just call or use the web to arrange a pick up and thats it. Ive sent basses back because i just didn't like them and they were really cool about it. Its not something i would do intentionally but in the past the saving has been quite large over local shops (ive never found one that would match Thomanns) and with nothing to loose other than a few days extra for delivery (always within 5 working days) i've felt it was worth using them. They also seem to carry a huge stock as sometimes they have been the only place i could find something without being messed around by UK stores with their "we need to order it after you have paid for it" lark. I think they also offer a free 3 year guarantee as well. not many Uk shops will do that. As other have said, no duty to pay and if its over £200 no postage either IIR. Their prices do seem quite high these days, due of course to the way the economy has gone but if you can find something cheaper on their site i say go for it.
 14.
Personally I done some and was looking to try and video as well for an Audio/Visual reference to my playing and technique to see what and were it could be improved. What you hear whilst playing and on playback can be two different things. I did have the intent to make everything public for pointers/public humiliation. After all there are far more knowledgeable people here.
I guess i should have written i dont see the point of people posting them rather just recording them. I can understand if its for your own reference and agree with you. We record all our gigs for the same reason. Im not saying im against anyone uploading them for all to see, only that these type of videos don't interest me so i doubt i would comment on (m)any of them because i wouldn't bother watching them, even if they were posted in a thread i was participating in.
 15. Has anyone else seen this yet? It looks pretty good and i might be tempted to get another irig now. PocketGK The best part is you dont need to import any songs first. Anyone with a iRig care to test the the free version out and let me know how well it works?
 16. Personally if im left un moved by something i would rather keep my mouth shut rather than post something negative, and im not going to post "wow, great playing" just for the sake of it. I never (or hardly ever) bother with all these video's of people playing along, almost note for note to CD tracks. To be honest i've never really seen the point of them (no offence meant to anyone).
 17.
Anyone shed any light on what the Greasebucket tone circuit actually means??
It means when you back the tone knob off you only loose the top end, rather than the usual slight boost in the low end. At least, thats how i understand it,.
 18.
He told me to hold on to it while he contacts the store where he bought it, the store is in business and its the same owner according to him
I would have thought the store is his problem, not yours. If its fake (and i think its been established that it is) then you really don't want to be stuck in the middle of this. Get your money back off him and let him deal with the store.
 19.
Fair play, me I'd be thinking - kerching!!
+1 although if it was a friend or someone i knew i would probably offer them a bit more, just to easy the guilt.
 20. I can see where the OP is coming from here. Personally i would be a bit miffed as well, no matter how nice it looks. I would speak to the seller to let him know my concern, maybe get some money back, but probably keep the bass IF it sounded, played and looked good. Going by those pics it certainly looks very nice (but then again, so do the Sue Ryder basses ) but if i wasnt 100% with the bass itself, and feeling a bit done over as far as being told it was one thing and it isn't, i would take it back before my brain made it in to something a lot bigger than it is.
 21.
Too lazy to read all of this thread (soz!). But I'm guessing that people delete all of the background 'blurb' in sales threads so that potential buyers don't have to scroll to the last page to find out whether the product in question has been sold. I.e. it avoids people checking out the first page then sending the seller a PM asking whether it's still for sale.
You only need to edit the title of the thread or the first post to read "Sold" or whatever, you dont need ot delete anything. Anyone who can be bothered to read the thread title, or figure out what sold means will know its been sold, not that that stops people from expecting it to still be available :-)
 22. I would prefer to be able trace the history of anything i buy on here if possible. I know most of us dont try and rip others off but I sold a bass on here a couple of years ago and was asked to remove the price by the buyer. I was happy to do that as it was done and dusted. Then it turns up a month or so later for quite a bit more than i sold it for but of course i couldn't say anything. I know its down to the seller to name a price and nothing to do with me but to ask me to take my price down first left a bitter taste.
 23. There are a few threads around about these basses. I had a Ray34 and loved it apart from the neck, it was just a bit too wide for my tastes as i cant get on with P sized necks, so im getting one of the new Ray34 CA basses when they come out and the price drops a bit. According to the 2011 Catalogue SBMM will only be doing a Ray34 in LH. A couple of my threads on the Ray34. 24. For me it's ideal. I do all my playing at home whilst sitting at my PC.
