1.
looks good, but i think it would be far too cumbersome and heavy for what i need.
Could you not ask one of the band members that have a car to keep with them? That's what i do. Of course you cant do this until you've joined the band but its worth thinking about. I would say not having a amp might limit the band you can join. Both my bands only use vocal PA's so while i can and do go through them its more for top end spread. I certainly couldn't get away with not having an amp (especially as i wouldn't have a monitor either). As for a DI box, i have a Behringer BDI21 that works well and they only cost about £25.
 2. I just noticed this on the IK website. iRig If its as good as their full version i might not need my PX4D any more.
 3. Agree with the others, anything YOU feel sounds good and plays well will do. I guess a Fender would be playing it safe if you are trying to sound authentic but with so many different basses used on the originals its pointless trying to get it spot on IMHO. I might add that maybe a 5 string will help if your changing the keys for some songs but i dont think its necessary.
 4. Something like a MAG 300 will work for small pubs and clubs, especially if there is PA suport.
 5.
yeah I'm going to see about some vintage fender pups for both positions if i can't shift it.
Fralins would be my choice. not cheap though. Sean. Thanks for the info about the Aerodyne. Its gone down my list at the moment. The Neck might be a bit to narrow.
 6. LOL, i hadn't even noticed that and i just read all the way through the thread.
 7. I prfer the old style myself. I don't like how the paint on the headstock finishes before the nut. It looks more like my Ray34. Maybe Lakland are using the cheaper side of the Cort factory now ;-)
 8.
Hahah, luckily I am definite on EB 5 strings now. It took me a while, and I had to wait to be able to test, but the EB neck and B does work for me, (THANKFULLY!).
Blah blah blah......heard it all before lol.
 9. You got your order in for the 5 string yet Gareth lol. This complicates things a bit doesn't it?
 10.
cheers Dave . i must agree with you she's a beaut'
Indeed. And i think it helps that you have some nice, well taken shots of it. Ive seen a few, very blurry and dark shots of some basses on here this morning and it puts me off. You would think a seller would make more of an effort (rant over ;-) Good luck.
 11. This is the first burst finish (other than a Blackburst) ive ever liked. This bass looks gorgeous Have a good luck bump.
 12.
Am I the only one who would ask for this song to be removed from the set list?
Probably not but if it goes down well then why would you? Arent we there to play songs the crowd want to hear?
 13.
I've got the original power jazz bass special model, Without the painted neck, it's stupid fast, and those extra frets make the difference in playing lead bass. I dunno if the duff signature has ghe same number of frets. Plus this has the active pre amp. Quarter pounder in the P and a Duncan designed jazz pick up. It's great if you want to be thumped, not for me though. Love a trade for a ray 34 , but that won't happen haha.
Sounds like a bit too much thump for me as well lol. I've never liked SDQP's. I know there are loads that do but to me its to aggressive. I guess its ideal for rock though.
 14.
Its different to how the subs feel. Mine feels just like a lacquered 62 jazz bass neck.
Cheers Chris. Ill see if i can get to try one at some point.
 15.
+1 It was the thing I didn't like about it too, good sounding though.
That was the main reason i got rid of my Sub. Hmmm, hadnt thought about this.
 16.
Asked the guy at the counter if he was able to get it in stock and was pretty much told no such amp exists.....Ok....so the one on the GK site is a fake?! What about the one on Thomman site?! I mentioned this, to which he basically said im wrong, he's right, it dont exsist.
Dont believe everything you read on the internet. This guy works in a music shop so how could he be wrong lol.
 17. Sold to the lovely man in Warwickshire. Cheers Mark.
 18.
The Japanese one comes with standard Fender Jap pickups, not the Duncans. If you send me an email to [email protected] i have some really good hi-res images of the Jap ones. (i will forward them when i'm not on the work computer) These aren't brought into the UK through Fender due to the obvious resemblence to the Duff Bass. I Think the Jap one will be more faithful to my original '85 one. It is very hard to find detailed spec to these but i think i have them somewhere. The Stock Alnico V Pickup is ok. But i have swapped all mine out for '62 Reissue PUPs as these are the pickup Duff actually asked for in his Custom Shop basses. Presumably not used to keep cost/spec down? The newer pickup sounds much rounder and a bit more high-end sparkle.
Cheers Chris. Ill email you now. No rush though, its just one of a few basses im interested in. Thanks again for all the help.
 19. Just sold Mark my DD. very nice bloke, easy to deal with, had some great communication, and i know its gone to a good home. Cheers mate.
 20. Had a POD2 off this charming bloke for my singer. Very easy to deal with and great price. Cheers mate.
 21.
The Duff bass doesnt have Quarter Pounders. It has a stock Fender pickup in the P-Position and an Seymour Duncan STK-J2B in the Jazz Bridge Position. It's not as aggressive as you may think. The Jazz Pickup has a slightly higher output then normal Jazzers, this makes the volume of the two roughly the same. Still worth considering i reckon!
Ah right, thanks. Then its back on the list. And it makes sense to have the jazz pup a bit hotter i guess. Do you know if the MIJ version the same? Its cheaper but there isnt a lot of info on the website posted above. And im not really up on all the Fender models. I love Alnico V pups and would probably put a Fralin P in it at some point. Cheers.
 22.
I have an original 80s Jazz Special and the new Duff one and the new one has a totally different shape neck to it. Much closer to a P-Bass. I will measure mine when i get back too, i also have the Aerodyne so can compare that as well.
Cheers Chris, that will help. Seeing as i dont like SDQP pups i think the duff version is off the list.
 23. Cheers guys. Seems liek the neck will be fine. Sean, thanks for that link. Ive heard about this shop but never bothered looking for it. looking through their stock i think i now prefer the Aerodyne Jazz Bass with pick guard. I have a feeling the Duff bass will be a bit too aggressive sounding.
 24. Quite a nice looking bass and im thinking it might be a good, all round back up bass (maybe, maybe not) but i would like to know the nut width. Now, before anyone starts quoting me spec's off Fenders website ive read them, 1.5". But ive also read that this is not the case and its actually a P width. Cheers.
