Helix Floor/LT/HX/Stomp/PodGo owners' Club - Tips, Ideas & Patches
dave_bass5 replied to Al Krow's topic in Effects
Yeah, i was the same. Although the guy knows what he is doing, i never heard anything that made me go ‘wow’. Some half decent starting blocks I suppose but i always felt he was hyped up a bit too much. -
The IEM (in ear monitors) Bible thread
dave_bass5 replied to EBS_freak's topic in Accessories and Misc
I use it purely to hear myself about the others, so i can tell when I’m playing the wrong notes etc. I’m not looking for a mix of any kind, not yet. I guess I’m just using a glorified headphone set up rather than tradition IEM’s but whatever its called, its a mode a huge difference to my playing. We have no FOH person, its all done which a mixer on stage and hopefully it sounds good in the room….when we get to gig in a room of course. -
Budget IEM systems - looking for recommendations!

Good to know as my singer just ordered hers this afternoon. -

I had looked at the ZSN’s as I thought the fit might be a bit better for my ears. As much as I’m getting on ok with my IEM, i find i can only use one ear, otherwise i get worried about the level coming out of the PA. As with most rehearsals we have the PA facing us, so its easy to gauge the volume. Being isolated from it makes it very difficult to do this. I know it will get better, but for now its one ear for IEM, the other on the PA. Thinking about getting the Xvive IEM system. My singer is going to get one as she has been using my Xvive guitar system with a P2 and her ZS10’s. Ive just put my DBR12 powered speaker up for sale. Cant see me needing a floor monitor now. -

The Xvive system looks good to me. My singer is getting this to replace her Sub-Zero (G4M) system. Just recently she has been using my Xvive guitar bug system with a G4M clone of the Behringer P2. That does stereo or mono. In mono mode both ears get fed the signal. Thats only £24. -
I wonder if that encore song has ever been played 😀

Never head of this band, but of course they are entitled to their opinion , even if it is bollox (in mine of course). They sound like a couple of Mr and Mrs Silly Billy who think they are doing something new or clever. Same old ‘indie/fight the system’ dross by the looks of it. Its not like they are doing anything new anyway. Who cares 😂

I guess its the same with most of the presets. They are just a starting block based on someone idea of what they like. Cant say i ever found anything that didn’t need tweaking quite a bit for my tastes. -
Price drop to £280. Totally forgot about this. I got this cab new in Dec from PMT, along with the padded cover (£70) that allows you to use the speaker without taking the cover off. The idea was to use it with my synth but ive decided to use IEM’s instead. Its had very light home use, and two rehearsals. It looks brand new more or less. Ill uploasd photos tomorrow, just getting the ball rolling now. 1000watts apparently,. It is very loud whatever these watts are based on. https://www.andertons.co.uk/live-pa/pa-systems/active-pa-speakers/yamaha-dbr12-1000w-active-1x12-pa-speaker This is the cover. https://www.gear4music.com/PA-DJ-and-Lighting/Yamaha-Speaker-Cover-for-DXR12mkII-DBR12-and-CBR12/13MB?origin=product-ads&gclid=CjwKCAjwq7aGBhADEiwA6uGZp9ooFTtdfZ2kOKIbWsu4mNwS1amtrvZ1zB0I3C-gM3Y6YlrUy1xKsRoCkdAQAvD_BwE Not looking for any trades, and not offering delivery on this as i dont have the packaging. Open to close offers. Any questions just ask (not about shipping or trading though).

Maybe thats with it all maxed out. After all, he has the Low and Highs at the highest settings as well. -

You could use the Dimension effect. This this based on the Boss Dimension D. I used to use the original pedal (still got it somewhere ) to thicken up my bass tone, and used the Stomp version a few times. Its like a chorus but without the ‘wobble’ if used correctly. A sort of doubling effect with a bit of course to blend this together I suppose. It might be that the Stomp/HFX etc dont have an equivalent effect to a lot of stand alone pedals, but having the ability to chain others together does seem to show you can get very close to most stand alone if you take the time to work out how. Obviously I’m not including Synth pedals, just before i get corrected lol. -
We've all heard the original version, but i came across the No Doubt version earlier this month. We (the band) thought it might be fun doing a cover in that style. Its not hugely different to Elvis's version i guess, but we felt it has a better feel.
-
Thanks very much. it was fun doing it.

Not a song i'd heard before it was suggested by the guitarist. We didnt want to do a straight cover but its not too far from it i guess. Had great fun trying out new things in Cubase. Other than guitar, bass and vocals its all me.

I’m going to buy the NXV210 one. Just that one on its own to use in Cubase when I’m recording bass. Not expecting it to sound like a real rig but it might give me the Berg vibe….maybe. -

Anyone seen these IR’s? Seems like a good idea to me, seeing as how great their cabs are. https://www.celestionplus.com/products/backline-heroes/bergantino-cabinets-impulse-responses/ -
I think the main reason it costs more is it has a signature on it. Thats a always a sure way to make more money 😮
-
It will be an EQ curve of some sort, but not a HPF. From the manual. Two Voice types are available. With the switch in “up” position, the frequency response is true to the input signal. With the switch in “down” position, the low-end frequencies are naturally boosted. This is excellent where the guitar is allowed to take up a great portion of the sonic spectrum. E.g. for rhythm guitar in a trio.
-
The description says it’s a gain switch. The voice switch in the original changes the tone. I think the voice switch is crucial for bass players with that pedal. Obviously the new one isn’t aimed at bass, but I don’t think it will be as popular with bass players
-
Yeah, but at least it doesn't look like a turd sitting on the floor 😂
-
More headroom is good though isnt it? Still waaaaaaay cheaper than the Darkglass etc stuff.

I just noticed there is a new version of the Mojomojo out, which has a switch marked ‘11’ 😁 https://www.andertons.co.uk/tc-electronic-mojomojo-paul-gilbert-overdrive-pedal?fbclid=IwAR1fAYijz1wxD4kNYEEh_SHA96kykNX2OX0SsZ7KK17bRBqQVV1F6kvn5a0
