I’ve done loads of gigs with just a 1x12. Never struggled to get heard, but something about a little cab that barely reaches waist height just seems not very satisfying to my eye.

😂, but he doesnt want to spend anywhere near that. He said that already, thats what makes it so funny. And as we know, there are plenty of bases that fit right in to his budget that are more than gig worthy, as have been posted here and plenty of other threads. To my mind there are players that will just play what they feel comfortable on, and those that can only play the very top end of basses, because......well, its got the name on the headstock innit and costs a bundle 😁. Those people look at the headstock and price tag first, get a semi on then work down the neck 😂. Just as well we all have different minds.

Any important duty on goods from Europe?

Might also mean some people make more of an effort with their ‘best ive ever owned’ new purchases 😂 -
3 times your budget, you might not like it but you can sell it for a small loss 😂

Same here. Never heard of them before the first video. Probably played it more times than any other album over the past year.

I had a TRBX 505 for over a year. Loved it at first, but felt the overal tone, and the B string to be lacking life and punch. I guess it depends on what you expect, but it seemed like a dulled down bass. I replaced it with a Sire V7 (first gen) and that was so much more livelier and useable. Not light though. I also have a BB425 that i love, and was so cheap its just not even worth selling (not that i would). The 425 is now my go to 5 string, cant see me getting much use out of the Sire, but this is a P vs J thing rather than anything else. I had a 435 for a free weeks, and was blown away with it. 8lbs, proper ‘Fender’ P tone. Stupidly sent it back as we went in to lock down. Ive tired to track it down by no luck. Obviously these are standard P/Jazz basses though. Another option would be a Lakland Sykline 55-01. Although that’s a 36in its a step up as far as playability goes for me. My first ‘real’ 5 string bass.

Just asked him. He paid £466 (without vat). He did get a bill from UPS and had to pay £120 on top. Andertons sell this for £599 (not in stock). Still cheaper. -

Mate just brought a guitar from Thomann’s. Total price worked out the same as from Andertons, inc all charges. Should add, that was last week. I’m not sure if there is a bill coming for the delivery side. -
Page 35 of the manual. You can manually assign each FS to the functions.

Agree with jrixn1, a powered PA speaker taking a line feed from the desk or Helix (assuming you want playing in stereo) would be ideal. You wouldn’t need an amp, and could control your own volume on stage from it. Plenty of them will work on their side, so can be directional, and for home use you don’t need to worry about setting an amp up as well,. A lot of them also have seen sort of DSP if you dont seven want to brother with the Helix.

We did a basic version of this Beatles song recently, and while I’m not happy with the guitar mix, I think it sounds ok overall.

No problem. I guess its something i should know in case i need to use it like this. It does work as expected, at least with my ipad. Connected the UR22C to the ipad via USB-C as i normaly would, all working fine, and when I changed the power over to the micro USB it went dead. Plugged in a phone charger to the Micro USB and it all came back to life.

Yes. Stereo was one of the things I really missed with the Solo. At first it was fine, but when I needed to record my Keyboard it became a problem unless I used USB, and it’s a bit of a faff changing over each time. Even my Focusrite 2i4 can do it, but my son uses it now. I had never bothered looking at the UR series until a mate got one and I had to set it up for him. It’s down to the DAW to set the configuration to stereo, but it works well. With CB it’s a lot more integrated, but any DAW should allow you to set up a stereo input from this. I’ve just recorded my GF singing in to my iPad, and the control panel that you can download to the iPad is great. Really useful as you get proper input metering at hardware level, and you can apply the effects so they are only there for monitoring, or get recorded. You can’t with the reverb though, but you wouldn’t want to. This is all before it gets to the DAW (Cunasis in my case). I’ve not tried the power switch, but I believe it will work like that. I can give it a try later if it helps.

Blimey, Sunday morning typos lol.

Thats what i do. My set up is in the living room so most of the time i record with headphones. You just have to get used to how the different devices sound. I know now that i need to boost the bass a bit more than I’d like when using my AKG headphones, and this seems to give a better level through normal speakers. I also have a pair of small JBL 104’s on my deck so go back and forth between those. Also a good idea to try the mix at low volume to make sure the vocals stand out. Since the thread started ive move up to a Steinberg UR22C interface. I really missed the headphone volume knob when doing the above. Sometimes I’d forget to turn the speakers down and get told off by the Family lol. It also has its own DSP, so you get a channel strip with EQ and Comp, decent reverb and amp sims with zero latency on the input. This is on ipad and computer which is cool for just jamming around without loading a DAW etc.

Come to think of it, when i first got CB Pro i was having an issue where it would just shut down. No warnings, no errors, just gone. It would happen quite a lot. Back then i was using Helix Native on a few tracks. I hadn’t thought it relevant until now, but since I stopped using it and use the VST amps or the ones built in to the interface ive not seen this issue. Could be a Helix issue.

Did you click the link i posted? I agree though, its not going to be AI thats the problem.

Thats a good price on Amazon, but as he has AI he can get pro for £250 as i said above. Thats one of the good things about getting a Steinberg interface, it comes with AI. EDIT: £243. https://www.juno.co.uk/products/steinberg-cubase-pro-11-upgrade-from-cubase/800404-01/?currency=GBP&flt=1&gclid=Cj0KCQjw0caCBhCIARIsAGAfuMyP1MHPLnrDs-NyqiAqlT9UWK6rpa3FbPj3Ad6dkVAF8Vm_Jt2gHd0aAmPvEALw_wcB

Just a FYI. AI to Artist is £120. AI to Pro is £250. This is if you get it from one of the music shops online and not Steinberg. If you upgrade to Elements first it will cost a lot more in the long run as there is no cheap upgrade path from Elements. (So £190 and £405), on top of the £50 to go to Elements You can get a 30 day free trial of Elements. Might be worth seeing if thats any better before spending money. I don’t think it will make a difference though.

A few ideas. Make sure your anti virus is not scanning anything to do with Helix or Steingberg. This will slow things down Can you freeze the tracks, or bounce them so that you can add more tracks? Possible to use on instance of Helix as dual channel? Not really practical i know. I didn’t have any issues when i was using Helix in CB Elements, and none in Pro, but never tried it in AI. I do see the CPU meter go up when i have more than one track, but nothing that I’d worry about. Does AI have ASIO Guard in Studio like Pro does? If so maybe make that higher. Your laptop is way more powerful than my PC, so it should be more capable and shouldn’t have this issue unless AI is crippled in some way, which i doubt.

Also check out Chris Selim - Mixdown Online Channel on YT. Really knows his stuff, although its like being taught by Fat Tony from the Simpsons 😂

Im pretty sure he has. might not be the Hang out videos, as these seem to be question answer things, but check the Cubase channel. This any good?

I love Gregs videos. I tend to watch the hang out videos the next day though. Once the index has been posted. Over 3 hours is a long time to sit watching anything.
