I had a set in a Squier VM PJ when they first came out but wasn't really blown away with them. Thats probably more the bass i recon, a bit of a lightweight sound no matter what pups it had in it. I now have the P in my Fender Sandblasted P bass and love it. Wont be changing this anytime soon (ever).

I love my little LT25, although i never use it. Handy as a bedside table though lol. I got the wrong order from GG (well, my son did who ordered it as a Christmas present for me).. I wanted a cover my my DBR12 and the one for £49 was perfect. They sent the high end verison, worth more and loads of features by mistake, and i really didn’t want that one lol.

I know a lot of fans aren't keen on this period of his career, but this is one of my all time fav gigs. Some great versions of his songs. Very 80’s which i also like.

Even before i got mine i read many posts on here and TB about neck dive. Even the official reviews mentioned it. I definitely had it as well, i don’t think these basses have changed since they came out. I didn’t mind it too much, it was more the tipping away from my body that i hated.

Yep. My band split in 2015. Me and the drummer continued, keeping the name etc. We (the two of us) never stopped.

Yeah, thats the only time ive ever played up the dusty end of the bass for more than a couple of notes lol. Its surprising how much ive come to depend on YT over the years though, and ive come crashing back to earth trying to find keyboard tutorials or even tabs for keys like those.

I spent a couple of years looking for this. Although I almost always use a BDDI always on, it was never my got to for drive. The two that really clicked for me were the GOG 66 Knightfall, especially for its two channels sharing the same EQ, and the TC Electronics Spark booster. The SB isn’t particularly high gain, but is quite neutral sounding but with Dort on top. Worked very well with my BDDI in front of it, but i also rehearsed a few times just using the SB and loved how simple it was to use and got great drive.

I’m just making a point that if you chose to not go with the original thats fair enough, thats your choice and you consciously made it, and it works, but if you want to go with the oringal it’s hardly been buried in the mix from the time it came out. Why change what works now though? The original is still the same as it was when you decided not to play it and do your own version (which did sound good to me ). I think the original isnt as driving as it could be, especially in a smaller band line up. I’m not criticising what people do at all, although duplicating the guitar seems a waste to me, just that its hardly a revelation to hear the original bass line this weekend.

Some of us use our ears 😎. Cover bands have been around a lot longer than YT and the internet lol. I get people want to play it differently, in fact I play the guitar riff when the solo is happening to fill out the song, but its not hard to hear how it goes if you want to play it as the original IMO. Tricky if the drummer is off time though. Ive always felt that bass line sounds ‘awkward’, but if the band is locked in its great. .

This is how i play it, and got ‘looks’ from my guitarist when i first did. I cant stand hearing the bass player play the same riff as the guitarist, its so obviously not the correct way.

Yeah, just watch the levels. Might be better to go in to the amp via the FX return if you have one.

Just to be clear, only the USB-C model’s can do this. Which is fine for both of us, but thought I’d point it out. Also worth mentioning Cubasis as an alternative to GB. It’s much more DAW like, but for messing around GB has it all.

Well with the Focusrite having a nice headphone amp I’m not really bothered about the missing headphone Jack. I didn’t think there would be much in it when I got the Solo and compared it to my old 2i4, but I could hear a slightly nicer’ sound out of my iPad through it. I put the solo up for sale just before that, but withdrew it quickly. Slightly better latency as well with the Solo. Just check in Cubasis as it’s 2.34ms. That’s a bit better than on my PC.

Yeah, thats how it used to work but since Apple stopped putting headphone jacks on things (iPhone 7 onwards) it gets a bit more complicated. Thats why the Solo is a better option as it has the headphone amp/jack.

That looks cool and i had considered that at the time i got the solo, but the lack of headphone out and control put me off. In fact it states its not compatible with devices that don’t have headphone out, so not ideal. It seems its one way only (in), so you would need a small Hub to hear anything.

Ive never used that version of the iRig, but I’d say yes anyway, as i hate the HD version i have. I will add that both do the job, so it really depends on what you think is lacking. There is no set up or drivers to do, it plugs in using one cable (if you have a USB-C ipad) and just works. The ipad is more powerful than my PC (which runs Cubase pro fine) so latency is very low. I do find that sometimes the ipad doesnt recognise it, so i take the cable out and rotate it. That shouldn’t be necessary but it seems to work. Not too often, and once its connected its 100% stable. I used this set up, in to Cubasis 3, to record the vocals and bass on the soundcloud tracks i posted.

My first ever remote collaboration with someone. Actually my bass player who is doing the guitars, and a singer he knows, He forced me out of retirement to play the bass. First time ive played bass since July last year. I did all the keys as well. More an exercise in getting to grips with Cubase than a musical masterpiece. This one is with my bands singer.

Dot agree. For you maybe. It can be helpful knowing where someone is based when chatting to them.

I’ve always though it’s not only logical, but common sense to put your location in your profile. Locations like ‘In my living room’ or ‘outer space’ etc sound stupid and are of no help to anyone. Really not clever at all It should be mandatory to put a proper geographical area in when you join up, even if you embellish it. IMO of course.
