  1. I don’t know if this has been talked about already, but i saw this when i was talking down Charing Cross road today. Very sad sight. When i started playing music this was the first music shop i ever went in. I came out with a Truckersound Combo, A Craftsman Les Paul copy and a Coloursound fuzz pedal. My mum came with me and we got the bus back home with it all. Back then we also had Rose Morris in Shaftesbury Ave, The Fender Sound house in Soho Square and many more shops spread out around the Denmark st area. I also noticed one side Denmark street has only two music shops left. Sad times, but a sign of them i guess.
  2. Going in to Tequlia is how we used to do, and then a bit of Whole Lotta love. That bit always went down well, and always a shame to go back in to La Bamba 😁
  3. Probably worth spending the weekend reading this thread. lots of chat about the merits of a Helix vs individual pedals. What sounds good to one person might not to another. Some sound close enough, some dont etc.
  4. Yep, thats me. Too easy to ‘noodle’ when I should be doing something constructive. Same with any instrument for me though.
  5. Ive recently started to use PMT in London. The first ‘real’ music shop ive used for a very, very long time. When i was working (up till last Oct) i could store all my boxes etc there. Now ive lost that i dont have room to keep boxes at home. Obviously within the return period isnt a problem, but later on if something became faulty like an amp or speaker I’d need a box. With PMT just up the road i dont need to worry about boxes anymore.
  6. Yes, same, and i also got stuck in a rut in that i would always sit and play the same songs (that the band were doing) over and over again. It got boring and i couldn't get myself out of it. My view was why learn new songs when the band wont do them. All I’m doing is playing along to recordings. I know this is not the norm, but its how i thought of things. Benign a very band minded person it was always about what the band will do.
  7. Cheers. There is enough non bass specific chat on here, as well as friends, to keep me around. Once a bass player always a bass player, so never say never. I handed bass duties over to a mate and the band sounds so much better for this adjustment. We sorely lacked keys so its the right move. I must admit i was getting in to a rut with bass and no gigs/rehearsals during the first lockdown. All this gear and no reason to use most of it. I was getting very twitchy and itching to rehearse again, as i love making music. The keyboard changed all that as i could/can now write again and having to learn all the band songs on keys, as well as re learn how to play etc, has kept me busy and very much sane. I’d say i have more enthusiasm for playing music now than i have had over the past few years.
  8. This is 100% my feeling. I also like the idea that i can buy, try with the band, and send it back if its not for me. I try not to, but have done a few times.
  9. I went back to keyboards (after 25 years) and have no intention of playing bass in the near future (although i have played bass recently on a recording i did with a mate). I lived for playing bass with the band, but sitting on my own at home i just didnt feel it. I wanted to do some recording but bass on its own is boring to me. Tried a bit of guitar but couldn't really get in to it. A happy ancient caused me to buy a new small keyboard, and then 2 weeks later a big one. To me its a more complete band in a box. I can sit for hours playing it, and any instrument i want is right there in front of me. Its actually changed how i feel about playing in bands. Now I’m happy making music at home, where as before i needed the band. We have rehearsed a few times since i changed, and its great fun, but I’m now more contingent with not rehearsing as well, I’m not selling off all the bass gear, but most of it, especially the rig. Still keeping a few basses, and ive recently got a Yamaha DBR12 for keys, which sounds great with bass as well.
  10. Didnt pick the bass up for the first 6 weeks of first lockdown. Then played it a lot for about a month, learning songs I’d been meaning to learn, then gave up playing bass. What year 🤔
  11. Never had any issues with DV247 over the years, but all the times ive had have come from Germany. I’d be a bit more cautious now, though. I believe even G4M has a warehouse in Central Europe, so it pays to check the in stock and delivery options.
  12. Yeah, i get the need for a solid connection for critical use, but music videos? We have a Virgin media SH3, but its only used in modem mode. This feeds a low end Nighthawk R8000. The two are very solid and quite often we get fester than we pay for, even on Wifi. Ive always kept a very close eye on download speeds at home. That comes from years of Usenet and seeing the download speed displayed. Its quite surpassing the number of people that done check their speed regularly.
  13. My home PC is wired directly to my hub, in the same room. I guess it is faster, but with my ipad and iphone (and all other things wifi) getting over 27MB/s, with a ping of around 9ms, I don’t see the benefit of having wires all over the flat. Amazed to hear there is such a difference in music quality just by going to a wired connection. I can understand that latency will be better on wired, but with a decent wifi router there shouldn’t much difference in speed.
  14. Just wanted to add this, then ill shut up and go back to my keyboard corner 😁 While I understand what you are saying, or quoting, these are quotes from Alex on the BF website in regards to the BB2 (a 1x12). Anyone using a good 2x12" or 4x10" but wanting deeper cleaner lows and more accurate mids and treble without any loss of loudness. It's the first 1x12" to compete with great 2x12" and 4x10" cabs for tone, bottom and loudness It's so sensitive you can gig with a 150W amp but it'll handle 800W amps without complaint for maximum output and headroom
  15. Agree, and as i gigged both the CN212 and F112, and rehearsed a lot with both, i can say that there is a noticeable difference between the sound of the two cabs, and how the bass sounds, but not volume wise, at least, i never had to turn one up louder than the other. Very different sound signatures though, and I preferred the less in your face CN212. Obviously having 2 drivers will mean it can go louder, but no one runs their rig flat out, especially with a 800watt amp, even in to 8 ohms. I think sensitivity is more important than watts and ohms.
  16. it breaks my heart to sell it, but i need the money, and dont plan on playing bass live for a very long time. At least i achieved tone nirvana with my current rig, and now have no need to mess with it. im going out on top lol. The GK L8 was fantastic, but i felt too over priced for what it offered over what i had. Very, very happy with the Fender now, at less than half the price.
  17. I was rehearsing just before the first lock down with a GK MB200 and my CN212, and never maxed the head out with the band. Admittedly its not quite a gig situation, although i do tend to run my rigs at the same volume as most gigs (due to the drummer always playing as hard as he can). When i had my GK Legacy 800 i could tell it had a lot more punch than my MB800, so these are very loud amps.
  18. Why do you want a head with a tube in it?
  19. What gigs do you use that much power at, and why so much headroom on an amp that is designed to break up and be pushed?
  20. Yep, spent almost 30mins trying to nail the intro to Town Called Malice earlier this week (not played bass for 6 months), ended up editing the notes afterwards in Cubase to make me sound good 😁 Ive been playing it for years, never thought i had a problem until i tried to record it.
  21. Very nice. I’m a sucker for blue LED’s 😁
  22. I just remembered i used to have a Yamaha RX21 decades ago, IIR that was a real nightmare to use, although back then we just got on with it. These days I’m struggling with Groove Agent. Its very powerful but not quite as intuitive as it could be,.
  23. Changed my mind for now, no longer for sale.
  24. I go this a few weeks ago from PMT as i had some recording to do and my 2i4 was on loan. The plan was to sell the 2i4 when i got it back, but it has features I’d rather not give up, so selling the Solo instead. I’m happy to keep it as it works well with my iPad Pro, but thought someone else might get more use out of it Obviously its as new, its just been sitting on my desk. Comes with box and all the paperwork/cable. Looking for £75 firm, and ill include 1st class post to mainland UK if needed. It has been registered on my account, but ill see if i can un register it. Happy to help with any of the downloads if needed. Website info here https://focusrite.com/en/usb-audio-interface/scarlett/scarlett-solo These are my photos of the actual unit.
