  1. Thanks, that’s good to hear.
  2. Ok but that doesn’t answer the question 😂.
  3. Ohhh, thats a cleaver idea. Cheers, ill do just that.
  4. I too had a Stomp and love what it could do and how it sounded, but when i stopped playing bass during lockdown i sold it. Now id love another but dot think I’ll ever need a Multi Fx like that again. Really enjoying the freedom of not having to think about anything other than the playing. I do use a Paradriver, but thats just for always on tone.
  5. I dont think iv ever had a battery go dead in a Tech21 product, but do remember doing this with my old BDDI once and got to a gig with no battery in it. Luckily i could power it off the desk (even though i wasnt going through it). To be honest i don’t think I’ll be using the PD at home much anyway, ive got enough amp sims on my Mac/iPad to cover home playing.
  6. Id have kept it if i had space in my gig bag, but it was still on the larger side of what i wanted. If i was just playing at home it would have been fine, and im sure ill get another at some point for this use, but for now ill be using just a Paradriver. Nice and compact and runs off a battery. I like things as neat as possible when i have to carry stuff on public transport.
  7. Thanks. I know the manual says you should keep a battery in it to avoid any clicks when switching on and off, so I’m guessing the battery could also be in use somehow, but it also works without the battery. I’ll put a fresh battery in and leave it on for a few days during the week.
  8. I should know this as im sure i asked many years ago, but i cant find the post. If i leave my Paradriver with a jack plugged in to the input, and have phantom power turned on, will the battery drain? It seems i can run it without a battery in, which is fine at home with my Mac/ipad, but im worried ill forget to put a battery in it before i go to a gig/rehearsal. At the same time, i dont want to go out with a dead battery. Obviously i can unplug the jack, but thats not what im asking. Thanks for any info.
  9. I think a lot of this is just lack of experience, and others need to be shown what’s what. It’s bending the point a little, but if i was to go and play with a band that has a PA, or to a gig that has a PA, i wouldn’t take an XLR cable with me unless asked. My thinking is if you have a PA you must surely have all the cables needed to use it so why would i need to bring any. Obviously with my own band the i told them all to get some, which they did, but a lot of people will naturally assume a PA comes with leads. It’s about communicating with those involved and sorting it out. Not everyone is a clued up as we are here, so we need to educate.
  10. Pretty much my stance now. To be fair the drummer has always been self contained, and tends to help set things up as he knows what he is doing, but if we are about to sound check and someone says they don’t have a mic etc, well, that’s not a ‘me’ problem anymore (and yes, its happened a few times and it’s unbelievable a grown person can act like this).
  11. Im the opposite. Im trying to get my band to play more songs where I don't need to use the usual Organ/Piano/brass and string. Maybe we should do a swap 😀 Even when I labbled up our XR18, gave them all cards with what goes where, they still took ages to figure it out. We use it at rehearsals as well as gigs, so we all get more time with it. Last one we had no bass in the XR18, but we could hear it. Bass player had plugged the bass in to the studio desk but his mic in to the XR18. Give me strength 😑
  12. It took me months to get my lot (backing vocalists) to bring their own mic leads. As me and the singer own the PA we used to have a large bag with all the leads in it, inc spares etc. i never had a problem letting the others use these leads. Also, because it was me they started to insist they put their instruments through the PA, mainly so i could get a good IEM mix i didn’t feel i should ask them to buy new gear to mainly benefit me. After a few gigs i noticed anything that wasn’t their own gear was just left on the stage for me and the singer to clear up. We also realised that we dont really need that large bag if we are only our personal stuff. We told everyone they needed to get thier own leads and all agreed. We did at least 3 gigs after that where someone didn’t bring enough leads. I purposely used to leave the spares in the car and pretend we didn’t have any. I felt this was the only way to ram it home that they are all grown ups and need to take responsibility.
  13. Not all bands have the capacity to carry larger than what they already have. My old band was like that. Only way we could have used a sub was for someone to buy a larger car or van. It’s not always practical to use what’s really needed. I rarely see a band in a pub use a sub (i know they do. Just never see It myself). We all operate on different levels and those at the higher level sometimes have issues with seeing others do things a different way.
  14. I’ve seen a couple of bands with no amps on stage. One was quite a large club and it sounded really good, but when i went down the front it started to sound empty. Because all the sound was coming from left and right stage there seemed to be something missing in the middle. Not a drastic change, and I’m sure because i play in bands i was more aware of it, but i ended up going back a bit to get a better sound. I wonder if it’s even worse in smaller venues like pubs.
  15. I’d say because we listen to music in stereo when using headphones. At least for me, i want to hear the band as if i was listening to Spotify or Apple Music, not a beaten up old mono radio.
  16. Ive never played a silent stage, but last weekend one of the bands I play with had a silent rehearsal room (except for drums, which we mic'ed up) for about an hour. I took my XR18 and IEM's, others brought theirs. We had full backline but had decided to see what all this client stuff is about. Most were ok with this, but said it lacked a bit of life. I, on the other hand really enjoyed it. We took a break and was discussing this (it was never my idea in the first place, but I'm all for it) and I suggested to the chief 'moaner' that he try my system. Should have seen the smile on his face when we started up. The only difference was I was using stereo, and had the instruments panned to just where I wanted them (and my bass in the middle), everyone else was mono. I tired the singers and it sounded pants to me. I get many people use mono, but it just didn't sound inspiring.
  17. I’ve got the Thomann’s version of the MI 2.4 and also found i kept knocking the volume knob. I did have it just on my side but I’ve had to move it to the back. A pain at first but now it’s ok.
  18. I forgot all about this. I canceled my pre order because it might have been in stock elsewhere before Andertons got it, but ended up getting a Paradriver as i wanted a bit of drive as well.
  19. When i had the H4n i was running it with the record levels on .8 at rehearsals. I was surprised i could go lower than 1. Sounded ok though, although the waveforms were clipped. The battery life did worry me, it seems quite short compared to others. Zoom do a Bluetooth adapter that lets you do all the adjustments on your phone. Not sure if that works for the H4 but if it did you might find that easier to use.
  20. yes and no. Its going to be nice to have all that power, it will last me for a few years, but it looks just like my old one, so hard to get excited lol.
  21. I just tried the Stem Splitter on my new M4 iPad Pro. Blown away that it split a 2 1/2 hour rehearsal in under 5 mins. I do wish it had Guitar and Other, rather than lumping the guitars with keys etc, but the speed is nothing to complain about. Still waiting to try it no my M1 MBP. I use the demo so need to wait for a new version.
