  1. Ah, i missed that. I will say though that you can open up certain freq’s and get a bit more growl/dirt, although its only revealing whats already there. I used to get a nice mild dirty tone from my P bass with the right settings.
  2. That’s really cool. If I didn’t have the Stomp I’d be getting that (almost did anyway last month).
  3. Has anyone mentioned the Q/strip yet?
  4. Yes, SA do a very nice EQ2 that has a hell of a lot of options plus, but not the loops. I tihnk you are basically describing the Helix Stomp, Global HPF, LFP, up to 6 (soon to be 8 ) blocks that could all be Parametric EQ’s, each also having variable HPF/LPF, and you can place the effects loop anywhere in the chain. In theory you could have each block just acting like one band of EQ, so the FX loop can be placed anywhere between any of the bands.
  5. I looked at getting the PJP but also ended up with the m50x. Cant be happier with them, although i did send the first pair back as i didn't feel i needed them. Then i missed them.
  6. This is the funniest thing ive read for ages. Its a lot easier to not click on the links than it is to click, listen then go and start a thread about it. If it winds you up why listen to them? and if you don’t listen to them why comment on something you haven’t listened to?
  7. My Bose QC35’s last for a good 15 hours, with ANC turned on. I have those, Apple AirPod pro’s and two sets of Jaybirds. All wireless and all work fine with my home cinema and iPad/iPhone. The only latency ive ever heard is from Amazon Prime, and thats through ther TV as well as headphones. Most video playback apps/programs will have an adjustment for latency anyway so its easy enough to compensate for if you do notice it. Obviously using batteries means you have to charge them, so a bit more hassle than passive wired, but having ANC is fantastic IME, and the ability to get up and go to the toilet/make coffee etc without having to stop music or film playing is quite liberating.
  8. Cant help with any of that. No experience with those headphones and there are so many options out there ill leave it to someone more qualified. I can say the m50x’s are great for TV/films (ive been watching the Boys through them) although if i was going to use them like that a lot I’d get the wireless verison.
  9. I dont really follow VH so wasnt aware he was ill. Makes it more of a shock.
  10. Bloody hell. Just seen this in the news. https://news.sky.com/story/eddie-van-halen-rock-star-and-guitar-legend-dies-of-throat-cancer-aged-65-12094917
  11. Cheers. Its been a difficult journey. All my ear/headphones are better for music than these, but I wanted something flatter but still not monitor flat. I think these are going to work out well. The head clamp pressure is quite strong, but the ear cups are smaller so not going to give me any pain. Let’s face it, it was more GAS than a need lol
  12. I got these mainly to run directly off my Yamaha MODX via the headphone out. With the DT’s i had the headphone knob on about 3 o’clock and it was just getting a bit too loud, so wasn't maxed out. For general music ill use my AirPod Pro’s or Bose QC35, so the m50x’s wont be used for this, although i wanted a bit of character as I’m playing along to Spotify tracks. I just felt the DT’s were a bit flat, and wasn’t ideal for the music part. I think the main negative for me was the ear cups. As soft and comfortable as they are, after an hour or so playing i had pain in my right temple where the cup was applying pressure. I was prepared to keep them up until that happened. No other headphone ive ever used has done this.
  13. Crazy I know, but i got another set of m50x’s 😂 I had an issue at the first rehearsal where everything from my synth sounded very bright. They sound fine through my HD25’s so its hard to adjust the EQ if i cant hear the issue in the first place. I remembered how i thought the m50x’s sounded a bit bright when i had them the first time round. Seems like the ideal headset to help me get the EQ in the right ball park, and i did like them anyway. Now very happy with them.
  14. As is the BC way, especially in this forum. 😃
  15. As there are quite a few Boss sims in the Helix it will be very interesting to hear how different the GT ones are.
  16. Ooops, haha, that’ll teach me. No it doesnt have two. No idea where i got that from. What it does have is the ability to use the volume knob to just control the headphone volume, and obviously output that through the dedicated headphone out, leaving the main outs to be set however you want them, and un effected by the main knob. Thats what i meant. I knew they could be separated somehow. I feel a bit stupid now but my comment still stands, the Stomp seems to be ideal for MY use. I don’t want to go changing output volume of my Synth, once the overall output has been set i don’t want it touch it (the patches will of course vary) but i do need the ability to adjust the monitor (headphones).
  17. But the stomp has main volume and headphone volume, each on serperate knobs. Thats what a dedicated headphone amp means. Its not relying on the main output, and doesnt need to be programmed in to each patch (which i what i did with my HFX for headphone use). I cant see this on the Boss, but correct me if I’m missing it. Its possible to have dual concentric knobs, which is what i meant about it being on the main level knob, not controlled by it. Obviously i don’t want to do my head in, which is why i mentioned the headphone amp in the first place 😏
  18. Nope, not at all. I looked before I posted. Where’s the separate volume control for the headphone (unless its on the main volume control). What if (and i do plan on doing this) i want to use it as a headphone monitor as well as using the main out?
  19. Most of that is how i feel, certainly when it’s being compared to the Stomp. It looks like a good unit (we dotn really know yet), but those saying they will jump ship based on seeing one or two guitar reviews will probably re think once the euphoria has died down and the specs have been discussed more. In its favour, for me, is the larger screen. I think that will be easier to read on a gig, and as already mentioned i like the input meters (as small as they are). I guess it is still on its first FW though, it could improve like the Helix did. As for running out of steam with just 4 blocks. Anyone found this? I dont believe its ever going to be an issue for 99% of users. Ive not read anyone maxing out the DSP with Just 4 blocks unless they are trying to, certainly not in the huge Helix threads we have on here as far as i can recall. 1 user’s true or false statement is hardly a reason to sacrifice the other plus points of the Stomp IMO. If there were widespread reports maybe, but as ive never run out of steam its a non issue for me. I’d much prefer a broader sweep of manufacturers pedals than just mostly Boss. Still, it does have the BDDI so it would do me if i was still playing bass. It would be great to get a comparison between the B1-Four/Stomp and Boss versions. The BIG issue i would have is no dedicated headphone amp. This would mean no matter what instrument I’m playing i wouldn't buy this. I rely on this so much with my Stomp (and Zoom’s), and that the price of the Boss buying even more gear to get back to where i was is not an option i would consider.
  20. Well obviously you adjust the blend knob to taste, but a lot of new owners keep it right up. It will also depend on the tone you are going for, and whether your rig will work with that setting, but untimely, you don’t run it at 100%, which is what ive said.
  21. Ive been saying this for years, the trick to getting a good tone out of this is to keep the Blend dialled down. Most experienced users know this, but it takes a while for this to sink in, as you do lose the overall amp sim tone. Not really needed if you are using an amp though.
  22. I brought a DG pedal from Mark a few years ago. I emailed him about a possible issue after about a week with it, and he called me up the next day and talked me though the problem. Fantastic service.
