  3. I got a first gen CV Jazz. Since owning it ive had 4 other Jazz basses, inc a really nice MIA jazz. None of them best the CV. Close, but never enough to keep them AND the CV. Still got the CV as my only 4 string jazz bass. The neck is the best ive ever owned, and ive had this on a few bodies, inc 2 P’s.
  4. Sold my 2009 CVP today. Felt more of a loss than when i sold my Yamaha P34 last week.
  5. Ive had this for a couple of years, brought new by me, and love it to bits. Problem is i haven’t really had a use for it. I did trade it for a bass last year, and then brought it back. Its very versatile, and can be used for more than just bass. Our singer has used it for vocals at gigs, and me and my guitarist used it extensively on the last demo. Its got a nice warm/vintage vibe, but it works for everything. Now i have a Graphic EQ i really don’t have a use for this anymore.   6. Loved the tone, it fitted right in with the songs we tend to play. I could quite happily live this that one bass if it was comfortable.
  7. .....and a lot cheaper. Ultimately though, it was the real sliders that sold me on this. I think those sliders are the reason its quite heavy as well. At least it wont get pulled off the keyboard to easily by the 4 cables sticking out of it.
  8. I found it very difficult finding one that’s only 3 foot, with straight jacks one end, angled the other, of a decent quality.
  9. I was just mainly worried about how thin those cables seem be, and they seemed to be very cheap. Wasn't sure if i was missing something. I ended up getting two decent 3ft cables. Mainly for versatility, and to make it easier if i have to go through a mono PA at rehearsals. Plus i can use them with bass if i have to.
  10. Solid mine for more or less the same reason. The only bass ive owned that hurt me. Even worse sitting down though.
  11. Ive just brought a stereo EQ, to use with my stereo Keyboard. The plan was to get two mono leads to go between the two (and two longer leads to the desk). Would there be much of a compromise if i was to use a single TRS lead, with adapters on each end? I know its not ideal, but wondering if there will be a big downside as far as signal quality goes? I’m only talking about 3ft at the most.   12. Yes, i looked at the SA one but its much more expensive, and for me at least, too fiddly. Not sure ill use it much on bass, the Stomp has very good EQ options already, but for keys it’s going to be integral to getting a good sound, especially as our desk is fairly limited. I’m gong to have to sell my Q/strip to fund it, but its a much more useful product for me.
  13. My Fender Sandblasted P weighs a lovely 7.9lbs. Its the perfect weight for me. I don’t mind heavier, and i have much heavier, but its the carrying them where i find heavier is more of a pain. Too light and i feel i didnt get my money‘ S worth, too heavy and it feels cheap lol. Also agree it needs a bit of weight to hang correctly most of the time.
  14. Answering my own quation, as ive just got one. Love it. I love my Q/strip but struggled with using it, as its only got one tone at any IME time. Having 128 is overkill, but I’m going to find a use for at least 3-4. Its a sturdy little box. Reminds me of my Helix Stomp. Seems to be made of the same material, and its black with silver flecks in it. Very classy. Size is great. Not too small but small enough to sit on my MODX where its going to live most of the time. This use is why i need stereo, otherwise i wouldn't be getting a something like this. Doesnt seem much in the way of cheap stereo EQ’s although the Behringer looked good and is much, much cheaper. Having the extra Freq’s swung it for me, along with battery powered. The LCD is great. Its they as an indication more than an accurate display of amounts etc. In manual mode the slider represent the cut and boost, but in patch mode they don’t move so the screen shows what’s happening. There are 3 sets of freq centres. The numbers printed on the front panel are the default ones, so dont change, but there are two other sets of 10 freqs with a slightly different centres. Very useful, although obviously each set is fixed. Not had a chance to use it through an amp yet, but through headphones i cant see any negatives like noise etc. The plan is to use it to flatten the response of the rehearsal studios. PA, and our own PA. Handy to be able to preset these. ill also use it on bass, which will be very useful, although not sure i need this when I’m using a Stomp as well.
  15. Anyone using, or had experience with this EQ? I'm looking for a stereo EQ for keyboards, and came across this. A bit more than i want to spend but it seems ideal. I’d use it on bass as well, but i have to have stereo for my synth. Like the idea of 128 memories. Ive always wished my Q/strip had memories. This may now replace that.

  17. NOW £50 Had this lying around for ages. Now need to get shot of it. All working as far as i can remember. Not been used since 2015. As you can see it comes with a basic stereo EQ. This has seen a bit of wear and tear, but it works. Rack case was brought new around 2014 so hardly had any wear. Pick up only from Holborn. Its really heavy. .

  20. Must admit i was a bit late to the party. 1979 was the first time i knew about UFO, and only brought Shoot Shoot (un heard) because it was on clear vinyl. I remember putting in on, being blown away, and had learnt the guitar off by the end fo the day lol. Then i was introduced to Strangers in the Night by a family member. Never looked back. I love keyboards in rock, so i can actually imagine those early albums sounding great with a full time keys player. Raymonds keys are quite subtle most of the time. Never too upfront unless needed. Love that style.
  21. Paul Raymond was another hero of mine. When i got in to playing keys (and even now), i can hear his influence on my playing. He was the first keyboard player in a band i ever really paid attention to. Think I’m going to go off and (re) learn the intro to Doctor Doctor on keys today lol. Something about the UFO sound that never sounded over produced. You could always hear what was going on. A bit more basic than what came along in the 80’s, but more ‘real’ i guess. I’d say the same about Judas Priest. I guess that was the whole NWOBHM sound.
  22. Ive got a live UFO recording somewhere, i think it was a BBC in concert session, or at least recorded by them. It stuck me that its the only live recording ive heard (of any band other than mine) with mistakes in the playing. Made it sound a bit more real,.
  23. What will the mixer give that the amp wont? It wont give a rig sim, which is really the key to using headphones and having a half decent tone IME. My idea would be get a Zoom B1-on, or splash out a few quid more and get a B1-Four. Both are dirt cheap. Both will do the full rig sim in headphones, have loads of effects, drum machine and run off batters. Ideal for the couch sessions.
  24. 2 standout gigs for me were Hammersmith Odeon, and the old Marquee. No idea of the years, late 70’s i think. The Marquee gig was during their prime, and it was great being so close to them. Will have Strangers in the Night on at the Gym today.
