  1. Yesterday I decided i need to learn some new songs, so learnt the whole of Weezers Teal album (or at least, the songs i didnt know) 😁
  2. Enjoyed Toy Matinee. I can certainly hear Guys’ style on that album. Firs time ive really noticed he has a style.
  3. Never hear of TM either until Guy starred talking about them. Just gone out for a walk and have the album playing on Apple Music. Quite enjoyable. Reminds me of the Cutting crew in places, but I guess that’s a sign of the times.
  4. I like that Guy talks about gear more. I think his videos are aimed more at us, where as JT is just talking basics for the general public, as Doctor J commented. Its nice to have them whatever, but i do feel JT could have made more of a production effort. Can’t stand portrait orientated phone videos for a start, let alone shaky ones. Ironic considering how over produced and expensive the DD videos are.
  5. Haha, yeah, but a bit freaky in places if you know what i mean.
  6. I love all the stuff they do. A very, very talented bunch of musicians.
  7. Haha, he looks like an old man living in the past. I’m sure ill go to hell saying this but as much as I love his playing I’m not enjoying the bits where he isnt playing, nor the distorted camera phone audio.
  8. Thanks. I did a few bits with the default tone print and agree, its a bit fiddly on a phone, especially when trying to do it at a rehearsal where i felt the ideal time to dial it in, with the rig at gig volume. I was planning on getting the Hypergravity for the extra controls in a live situation but then got the Helix so didn’t bother. Still, doubt ill ever use it again now i have the Becos and/or the Rochester Comp.
  9. Ah cool. That makes things a lot easer, although I’d still find a way to mess it up. Just looking at all those parameters gives me the shivers lol.
  10. Yeah, as with most of these things. I find some are ok at showing how things work together etc, but they always seem to be over the top and of no use.
  11. Can’t stand those cheesy, messy Synth presets. I haven’t really used any of the stock presets though. From day 1 i made my own, as i knew what i wanted.
  12. I had some good results with the presets, but never found them to be exactly what i wanted. I don’t believe you can edit the tone prints from the name artists, although i haven’t tried for a few years. Don’t get me wrong i used one for quite a while, but i felt i didnt have control over what it was doing.
  13. Can’t believe this pedal has been out for long. I just came across this video, thought it might help those thinking of getting one. The guy is going through the presets. Shows how awful they are lol.
  14. Ive still got my Spectracomp, and i liked what i it did, but for me it was the most complicated pedal ive ever owned. It might just have that one knob, but if I tried to make adjustments it was a mine field of parameters.
  15. I sure this a very small number, but i also think its a worry that it could happen at all. Never had a set of string with rust on them before, let alone brand new ones. I’d also like to think that although we are a large community there must be 1000s not on web forums, sp who knows how widespread it is. It does seem that those who got a bad string/set got them replaced with good ones, and if you do get a bad one just send the set back. Nothing to lose really, other than maybe time, and not liking them.
  16. This is my reason as well. That and YT videos. I’d love to be able to do it well, but if I’m honest i have no need to play it, so I’d also be one to use it just to show off. I also find a lot of it quite repetitive. Nothing against hearing it in the right context though.
  17. I got mine from Amazon so was easy to send back. In the short time I used them i was really impressed with them. I will definitely try a set again when i can afford it.
  18. Im fine at home, at least, I can play along to Spotify etc ok. it’s probably my drummer playing too fast or just different to how it should be. Need to practice finger playing more with the band than on my own. Not likely to do that for a while though.
  19. I’m the other way. Been playing with a pick since I started. Sometimes I struggle with the tone I get, not so keen on the thinness a pick can give not the higher strings, upper notes, but overall it works for most things we play. I don’t try and emulate the original tones unless it’s really needed. I do tend to play a lot of the side of my right hand muting the strings a bit, which gets me a bit more thumpy At home I hardly use a pick, as I do try my best to get up to speed with fingers, but with the band I try a bit and then get the pick out. I just can’t get the speed and syncopation with the band.
  20. I had a set earlier this year (or around that time). The D had rust spots on it so I sent them back There is a nice thread about them already
  21. Wow, i didnt know this. I brought a bass of them just before lockdown, and sent it back due to me not knowing my future financial situation. Had to chase them a bit but glad i did now. What a shame. EDIT. Their website is still active.
  22. Mine as well. In fact top of a very short list of bass heroes.
  23. I saw DD on thier first major tour with Hazel O’Connor at the Dominon. They had tartan on and a lot of people thought they were Spandau Ballet lol. Even back then i thought they had an amazing feel to their songs. Nothing flash, but everything’ seemed to be where it needed to be to support the rest. Not a huge fan of the over produced stuff though.
  24. I’m not sure he is underrated. Everyone seems to rave about him. Not bad for a pick player 😂
