  1. I quite like the black but worth a few bits of chrome look, but its the style of finish on the body that really appeals to me.
  2. That too is lovely, although I’m very much drawn to the non gloss look these days. Is that like a black Duck Dunn with embellishments? The neck looks nice and slim.
  3. Quite volcanic 😂
  4. This was my thinking as well. I never intended to use the Zoom’s live. Don’t need amp/cab sims as i have a rig, but for headphone practice these are perfect (should say i use a Helix Stomp at home now). But the SD has a solid tone, which i found worked great in front of my amp. I used to keep the amp flat and use the SD for EQ. Having Comp onboard was great. I never did get around to using the drive part with the band though. I just didnt feel i could get the tone i wanted. Eventually i went back to my BDDI for band use as I like the drive tone, plus i do actually love the BDDI anyway (just wish it had a cab sim headphone output) and kept the SD for home use until i got my Stomp.
  5. Yeah, the Zoom B3n or B1-Four (much cheaper). No DI but other than that, does all the Spectradrive does and way more. For home practice you have amp and cab sims, headphone out, aux in, looper, drum machine, loads of effects etc. Dont get me wrong, i love the Spectradrive, but I find its a very basic box, albeit one that covered my needs at the time. Killer feature for me has always been the EQ. Its just perfect for my tones. I got a BH800 head based on it having the same EQ section.
  6. Its like my Fender, only better....and blacker.....and a jazz lol.
  7. I like to shim my basses when i get them, if i can. None of the basses ive had with HM bridges have come shimmed, and none have needed it. In my case I just like to have the strings more parallel to the fretboard.
  8. Just come across this. Not cheap at £2100 starting price, but oh my...... I’m sure these have been mentioned before, but its new to me. #blackbassesmatter.
  9. Sorry, way to much for me to read, but if it was positive i can only agree with you. Loved mine when i had it. Probably find a few threads on here about it as well.
  10. Exactly the same for me. I also like that they are 19mm string spacing. Some of the basses ive replaced the bridge on were 20mm.
  11. Haha, nail hits head.
  12. Haha, no, I meant i was just agreeing with you. I love how it hardly changes the tone, but adds the breakup.
  13. Yep, as I said earlier, the clean boost is the best of the lot, and only one I found a use for.
  14. I must the only one that doesn’t walk around with a tool box in case my cheap bass falls apart 😂😂
  15. ‘What sort of stuff do you play? We dont like it too loud here....’ Normally during load in 😏
  16. I’ve listened to the whole album 3 times now. Its a good album. Ive probably got a few more listens before i get bored 😁
  17. Saw loads on the ground over the park today 😂 Sorry😬
  18. Not quite a small and light but i have one of these. Didn’t get it for bass specificity but its been very handy.
  19. There is a free version of Cakewalk available from Bandlab’s website. Very well polished DAW. Been using the paid versions for years.
  20. No problem. I’d like to use my AirPod Pro’s but cant.
  21. I’m starting to put a very small recording set up together, based around my ipad. Not a cheap way but i already have th iPad, and its more powerful than anything I could afford in the laptop world (i have a PC but down want to use it). I can plug my Helix Stomp in to it via USB and record using that. It handles my bass/keyboard/guitar etc. I recently got a Yamaha Reface DX as a note pad type of thing, but it works perfectly as a controller in to my ipad. The free GarageBand is great, although i have Laos started using Cubasis which is even better. Obvulsy the ipad can be substituted for my PC if i choose. No need for a USB interface if i use the Helix, although hi have a Scarlett 2i4 if i need it.
  22. Although not totally relevant to this thread, pedals like the BDDI (which is in the B1, as well as the Helix) have a Blend, but even with the effect right off the EQ still affects the clean tone.
  23. I had a 55-01 and upgraded the preamp. Didn’t make much difference (then again why should it). My advice is start with the pups. Those Bart MK1’are quite boring.
  24. Thats how I understand it. Parallel paths are great, but if a sim has a blend then its doing a similar job, assuming you are just using the second path to send the whole signal to. Being able to send only part of the feq range to a clean path is handy i guess, although pedals that have a blend usually dont, and they seem to work fine for most off us.
