  1. Think thats bad. My band once rehearsed in a room straight after Rockbitch. Clothes were definitely low down on the list of things to take to that rehearsal (no, not my band lol)
  2. Yes, but a clarification. My guitarist isnt as good at playing bass as i am, but as he is a good guitarist he knows his way around chords and stuff, so technically a better musician. Doesn't really show at gigs though, as he plays in a very messy way. My bass player is a better bass player than me, and he also plays guitar almost as good as my guitarist. In fact he was our guitarist before he left a couple of years ago. Now he is back on bass, which is his primary instrument anyway. Where i win is i can remember all the songs and how they go. No faffing around on strange trying to remember chords, what OD to use etc. Just stand there waiting for the next song and getting on with it. I guess thats for another thread though. Ironically the guitarist is also a better piano player than me, apparently. He has a grade 5 or something like that, which is a bit more intimidating as I’m still very rough. Don’t you just hate some people lol.
  3. Couldnt agree more. Just a different flavour of the same thing. A few extras, no doubt a few things missing that the Stomp has as well. Time will tell. Being a member of a few Helix FB groups i dont get why the Stomp keeps getting mentioned as having issues. Its not widespread, just taken out of context as far as I’m concerned. A very, very few owners that had had issues do not make it a problem box, at least no more than anything else. I have two broken Boss pedals at home, I’d certainly avoid that manufacturer as well 😁
  4. As mentioned 18 hours ago right near the top of the thread lol.
  5. Wonder how many shot off to YT to find a video 😂
  6. Might have been me. It definitely took me a couple of years before i went back to mine after the first gig (actually a BDI-21) and actually found how to use it properly. Hated it at first. Then one day as i was about to sell it i turned the Blend knob down to about 10 o’clock and there was the tone ive pretty much used since.
  7. Are you saying you cant get it close to a real BDDI or you just cant get a likeable all tone? I still have my B1-four and Helix Stomp. When i first got the B1 i did a BDDI test, just in headphones though. I found the Helix BDDI has more life to it, and the B1 sounds a bit thicker. Possibly a lower quality causing this. Still usable though. This is just with mild drive and a P bass. Cant really suggest anything other than keeping the Blend knob below noon, which is something that gets a lot of new owners. That Blend know is the key to getting a usable tone out of the BDDI.
  8. I never really compared the two side by side, and ive be surprised if the Helix version sounded as good (defiantly not as good as v2), but i cant say i found it lacking for my use. I did try the manual presets from the old v1 and thought they sounded less warm, but in the same ball park.
  9. We once got paid an extra £50 by the landlord to play the theme from Only fools and horses. We used to do it occasionally but had run out of time at this gig. Apparently it was the highlight of his night when we play it. This time it went on for about 5mins, with a sing along section in the middle.
  10. Sorry, thats the one I’m watching now. I love how JH told Lars off. Ill try that line with my drummer at the next rehearsal lol.
  11. I wasnt really talking about sound guys, more users that don’t believe they can get by without a XLR socket on the last box in the chain. As we know, we must obey the Sound guy if we want to be heard lol.
  12. Just watching that now. Not seen it before. Quite entertaining.
  13. Should add, i dont think we would get a shots glass filled the state my band is in at the movement. Thats for another thread.
  14. A lot of people just don’t get that the signal out of devices like these are more than good enough for DI. If it hasn’t got a XLR then its not a DI. Obviously if you have to have XLR thats a different matter.
  15. Well it works for pub strippers 😮
  16. Seems to cost over £100 more than the Stomp, so will have stiff competition. I like the layout though.
  17. Should have mentioned that if he had stood as close to the jet as he did to the band to take a reading.......he would be dead.
  18. Yeah, but for some reason some people HAVE to have it on XLR.
  19. I’m going to start a ‘My pedal drawer is larger than i need’ thread. This time last year it was full, now its so empty ive started putting clothes in it again 😁
  20. I kept my BDDI when i got my Stomp, its been my fav pedal over the years. Ive had 3, and this last one was a v2. I realised a few weeks ago i haven’t actually used it since getting the Stomp, as ive been using the Stomp version (normally always on). Finally sold it this week.
  21. Not seen much talk of this (might have missed it of course). Looks like a very capable Stomp alternative, even has a bass mode (inc BDDI sim). Less ‘named’ sims, and less overall compared to the Stomp, but does have a cool VU meter. https://www.boss.info/global/products/gt-1000core/?fbclid=IwAR34FHJdvyW6Y5gNn1ebhasZbq3rLDeFFk6qDkF-7FFlTwoAcjskf2wFans
  22. Ive just realised i still have an empty Metro 16 with Cioks DC-5 under it. Maybe one day ill fill it again.
  23. Well the Stomp has a great tuner in it, and if you dont need XLR out the Stomp also has the older BDDI in it.
  24. Haha, all i meant was I’m used to hearing him sing it, i just wanted more of Gaga’s voice.
