We've been together as a unit for so many years that whenever we have any dep, no matter how musically excellent, it feels very strange. I missed 2 months of gigs after cancer surgery this autumn and was depped by a far more technically astute player. When I returned, albeit sitting on a stool, the band expressed how relieved they were. Obviously, I know they were just being polite 😋. In the longer term, I or the others could be replaced quite easily but it would take some time to get back to the musical comfort that we have and that's something that is very precious to us and makes the whole experience so much more enjoyable. Of course, the audience never notice if we have a dep 🤣

Are you a fan of the FANNED FRET BASS ?
kusee pee replied to Bass4real's topic in General Discussion
I've had plenty of fanned frets and all of them felt very natural. And they look super cool. I'm a sucker for looks. -
Having been off gigging for a couple of months with cancer, I've got strong GAS. In particular for another Bogart 35" 5er which pretty much don't exist unless I order new. Either that or something else headless/graphitey. Or I may grab another Dingwall and get back to gigging them. Or splash out on a decent pedal board.

I do have worries about something going wrong but it's been robust enough...so far!!

We use B-Beat for triggering videos for each track. I'm no expert on the tech but it seems to work very well. https://www.m-live.com/en/b-beat/

That's very sad. A cracking band in both their incarnations. Always thought his input was underrated.

I can't say for sure but given I had to swap out a 90 degree jack (which didnt fit) for a straight jack (which did) when I got an SR, I'd guess from your picture that it may not fit. Looks close though, so hopefully someone will have tried it and can say for sure!

Just bought a zoom B6 from Sean. Great comms, quick and secure posting. A pleasure to deal with, thanks mate 👍

I love Mick Karn's work, crazily inventive. This thread has reminded me to dig out my old Dali's Car album. The Jansen, Barbieri and Karn work is so cool and a reminder of what great drumming there was on Japan's albums too.

Traded a Stingray 5 for a Bogart with Keir. Lovely guy, easy trade, great communication. Top basschatter 👍

Shakin' Stevens - it grooves! Wizzard - cos it's a little tricky having not played it for 12 months 😛

My main gigging bass is currently an SR iron label MS5. Have to say, it's lovely, so easy to play, looks great, lovely tones. I'm looking to get a BTB iron label as a pair. When I bought it, I wasn't looking for a metal bass (we're a function band!) but it just played so well, it stood out over the dozens of basses I tried at the time. Honestly, I love it.

For bass players - who preffer to sing back vocals ?
kusee pee replied to nilorius's topic in General Discussion
I love BVs, playing and singing is far more fun for me than just playing. My band has 3 BVs and we often have 2 or 3 harmonies going which adds so much. I also like the challenge of it, great fun. -
Definitely a case of practising. For me, it's all about the rhythm rather than the melody, I need to work out where the vocal rhythm comes in relation to the bass rhythm then it all starts to fall into place. Mostly!

“Road to Night City” original 80’s syntwave bass composition
kusee pee replied to dave84's topic in Share Your Music
Like that a lot. Great playing and the bass tone fits the synthwave vibe very well. What VSTs are you using for the synth sounds, I've been looking for a good synthwave package for a while (I use Cubase btw).- 2 replies

Update.. we've found a drummer. Now just have to face the always-fun experience of being nervous in every song 🙃

Gig still on but our drummer tested positive this afternoon and we're frantically looking for a dep. Not looking likely at this time. We missed our last gig before Xmas cos our singer was positive. Covid really is a pain.

Just learning Dancing On The Ceiling for new band. Great song but, even though I knew it, I was surprised to find it has a key change. How could I not have noticed that?!
