1. Bump for some sound clips! I had forgotten all about these until I found them on my computer this morning. They are sound clips which I must have downloaded from the old Groove Shoppe web site. They are of an ash/maple/maple bass like the one I'm selling, but I think the pickups on the recorded bass are the Nordstrand Dual Coils rather than the Fat Stacks on the bass I have for sale. I don't think the pickups make *that* much difference in the sound, but hopefully the clips will be a near representation of the kind of sound you can expect. Even though these files have a .mp3 file extention and are uploaded as such, I noticed when previewing my post that the attachment file is renamed entirely and the file extention from .mp3 to .ipb (an iPhone perl script format apparently, wtf?) Therefore you will need to rename them to .mp3 before you can play them. Single Coil Both pick-ups 100% Single Coil Bridge pick-up only Single Coil Neck pick-up only Single Coil Bridge 80%, Neck 20% Single Coil Bridge 80%, Neck 20% (mids +2, treble-2) Dual Coil Bridge 80%, Neck 20% (mids +2, treble-2) Single Coil Slap Both pick-ups 100% Single Coil Bridge 80%, Neck 20% (passive tone on)

3. Bump for a closeup of a crack in the finish/laquer.
4. Harry just bought my Sadowsky, easy to deal with as always. Cheers Harry, hope you enjoy it.
5. just bought a tech soundsystems cab from Paul, nice and easy deal. a pleasure to deal with, and would happily deal with him again.
6. bump for link to new picture gallery above! https://picasaweb.google.com/109910182563338742532/GS5?authuser=0&authkey=Gv1sRgCJKTl-r6xIyC3gE&feat=directlink
7. MTD 535 Natural Ash body, maple neck and fb £1900 Just getting this out there... I'll put some more details up when I have a bit more time. Here are some photos. They are a few years old now, and I will take some new ones if there's serious interest. It's in a decent condition, minor cosmetic issues and some fret wear etc as expected from a bass that's been played/gigged rather than hung on a wall. Great punchy tone, great B string. Nothing not to like. The reason I'm selling to to put in a custom order, otherwise I'm more than happy to keep it. Collection from London preferred, but it does come with a SKB-44 flight case, which is bomb proof, so I wouldn't have any problems or worries about shipping it, if a potential buyer wants to pay for the costs involved. Thanks! G http://smg.beta.phot.../MTD535-Natural
8. haven't read the whole thread, but after having some fret buzz on a bass recently due to the neck moving, and my quite low action, I decided to raise the action above what I would normally, and suddenly the sound was much bigger/fuller, and that's with some light 40-120 strings.
9. Tom, just bought some strings from me. Nice and easy transaction, cheers!
10.
This review was the decider for me to try out the dunlops to (in the same gauge). I bought a couple of sets for £16 each off eBay which seems pretty cheap as normally they go for about (correct me if I'm wrong) £23/£25 for 5 string sets. Looking forward to trying these out! What is the life on these? I've only used legacy nickels so far and they are good but are needing changing every 2 months or so.
sounds like you got a good price there - I've found that I'm still using the same sets as I strung on my basses about 9months ago. The bass that has seen regular use sounds fine to me still, I've no intention of replacing them anytime soon. Bear in mind that i don't have particularly sweaty hands or toxic sweat
11. Bump, these are still here - great strings IMO. £10 posted, and I'd donate £8 quid of that to BC.
12. Bought some cables from Shep - easy deal as expected. Cheers G.
13. I bought a pedal from Dave. Smooth, easy deal and quick postage. Nothing not to like. Cheers, G.
14.
Bump
Owen, you still have the Alembic marked as "on hold". I assume that is what you are bumping here?
15. Not sure if it's been mentioned, and I'm quite excited since I noticed this the other day: http://www.bassdirec...ts/MTD_USA.html It's about time that someone did it, so well done Mark. The prices look pretty competetive too vs. buying direct from a US dealer. If anything is going to drag me from under my rock and up to Warwick, this IS IT
16. wow, that's a great price...
17.
Hi. Maybe you'd like trade? http://basschat.co.u...om-bass-guitar/
hi, thanks for the offer but I'm not looking to trade at this time. All the best with your sale... Cheers G
18. Thinking of moving this on. The reason I bought it was to try this bass with Nordstrand Fat Stacks, rather than the Dual Coils in my other GS5. I'm keeping the one with the Dual Coils. I've had this for a year or so, and used it enought to know that it's a very nice bass with no issues. Tone wise, I'd say it sounds Miller-ish - ie, 70's jazz-a-like but with the modern bells and whistles. Custom Glockenklang preamp that was made to Groove Shoppe spec. Vol, Bass, Mid, Treble. Passive/Active push/pull on the Vol, and when in passive mode the treble EQ works as a passive tone control. The switch is single-coil/humbucking mode for the pickups. Hip-shot bridge & tuners. 35" scale, 24 fret. 19mm string spacing at the bridge. Neck is 1 7/8" at the nut *I think*. It's a slim and comfy neck. Balances really nicely on a strap, and probably weighs in at around 9lbs. Pics of both on this thread: http://basschat.co.u...oove-shoppe-gs5 https://picasaweb.go...feat=directlink It's the white one I'm offering for sale. FS/FT @ £1100 Not many of these around, and I've never seen one for sale in Europe. Very nice basses which retailed around $2600. A real shame it didn't work out for them in the long run. Cheers G ps. EDIT: not looking to ship at the moment, so would be collection only from London or north/south Wales.
19. played this bass at the gallery a few weeks ago. killer bass, shame it's a 6er, otherwise I'd be in trouble. Nicest MTD wood combo I've tried so far. Mike Tobias told me that Black Limba is very similar to Mahogany (and Makore), so a really nice low mid growl, and a good high mid bite from the mable f/b. If I ever custom order, i'm 99% sure it'd be this or very similar woods. Cheers Harry, GLWTS
20. hi Lozz, sorry for the late feedback! To everyone else: I bought a pedal from Lozz and it was a nice and easy deal, everything went as arranged. Happy to recommend and would happily deal with him again myself. cheers! G.
