I bought a SKB Bass Safe from Matt a couple of weeks back and everything went as planned. Really easy to deal with, and also gives good local pub recommendations ;0) Thanks Matt G

Manu just bought my Norstrand Fatstacks pickups. All went smoothly, and I'd be happy to deal with him again. Thanks Manu, I hope you get good use out of them. Cheers G

I'd heard of these guys quite sometime back, but not really heard their music. After reading a review of their recent London gig, I was prompted to get off my rocking chair, and onto you tube. It turns out that I should have heard them years ago! I was wondering if anyone who's more familiar with them might recommend me a CD (apart from the 2 I've just ordered on Amazon ) "A Livingroom Hush" & "One Armed Bandit". Anyway here's the clip I watche, and it happened to reminded me a little of Frank Zappa (in particular, "The Grand Wazoo" album). Cheers G ps. the drummer's beard is outstanding - he should be in ZZ Top.
By "unseen", I really mean without playing them before buying. How many people here have bought a bass unseen and then kept it for several years? I've had a Rickenbacker C64 for 3 years. All the other unseens were sold within a year of purchase.
Most of the basses I've bought in the last 6 years were bought "unplayed" rather than unseen. None were bad basses by any stretch, but also none have been mass produced basses, so I've had to go by reputation and research. If I was going to by something more mass produced, I think I'd take my time trying a few, but then that's the luxury of buying mass produced instruments as they are far more widely available.

It looks like various deals are potentially not going to happen, so here are lots more pictures of the KS...
I always seem to read good things about them on TalkBass - seem to be popular with gospel guys (always a good sign in my book). I'm also heading for Nashville in April. . .
not sure the Tbird will be rocking many gospel services! not played one, but I always liked the way they sounded after seeing this endorser video on you tube Dan Lutz, the guy in the video was also a previous owner of my MTD as it happens. His LEJ (the one from the video) came up for sale on TB too, and I was seriously thinking of buying it, although I didn't want to feel like a stalker or anything

A bit of Sadowsky pr0m. I love the simplicity of the looks, and that it sounds pretty good too. It was the pick of the bunch for me when I first tried it at the Sadowsky showroom in Brooklyn back in September 2009. Unfortunately I couldn't stretch to buying it at that time. After prevaricating for a while, it sold and I thought that was that, then last October it turned up on Basschat and it had found its way to France, but I didn't see the advert until it sold once again. Luckily for me it came back up for sale, and then not for sale, and finally I was able to arrange to buy it. I made the trip to Paris to collect last Sunday, almost cheaper than shipping, and safe with the knowlege that I'm the only once chucking the case around on the way back to London I'm loving ebony boards at the moment, they seem to give a really quick response/attack on the note and this one's no exception. Here's the picture off the Sadowsky website... EDIT: and it's only 7.85lbs !! Really light for a 5er. Good for my back and shoulder as I get older, no doubt!

I think this is the only feedback thread for snaps, I couldn't find another anyway. It's positive feedback from me. I just bought a bass from snaps, a NYC Sadowsky in fact, so not a trivial transaction. After deciding that it was quicker/easier and almost cheaper for me to have a day trip to Paris, we arranged to meet at Gare du Nord. Everything went smoothly, Jerome (snaps) arrived on time, and it was a hassle free transaction. Jerome was very communicative throughout our dealings, and has much better English than my French!! So all in all, I would be happy to deal with him again without reservation. Thanks Jerome, it was very nice to meet you, if only very briefly! Cheers G
Hey Mark and Gwilym, any gigs coming up where we can hear these beasts in action?
Lol, no I will only play it at home But seriously, I do intend to gig it so I'll let you know, more likely I will record our next band demos with it before we play another gig (which have been infrequent of late), so I will draw your attention to them once the boss is ready to put them up on the web site. I know you said no to Mark Bass but I think the F1/F500 might be perfect for you.
Errrm, just bought this beautiful Alembic Series 1 from lozbass (these are Loz' photos, hope thats OK but I have either a rubbish camera or am just bad at taking photos). Its a fully refurbished 1982 bass that really is as good as new, and weighs only 9.2 pounds.
Nice bass, just right for a punk band? I guess you should now be known as "Stanley" Clarky
Looks great Gwil - love that redwood burl top I didn't know Mike T was making chambered bodies now. I'd never really thought of MTD's as being heavy basses, is he doing this in order to use different tonewoods that are traditionally heavier than regular MTD woods?
hi Barrie, how's it going? As far as I know the chambered bodies weren't developed as a weight loss tool, rather an experiment with creating a more resonant instrument. I seem to recall recently reading (probably on TB) that MT was going to phase out making these models, I don't know if that's true or not, but I'm sure it would probably always be available as a custom option anyway. This is around 8.5 lbs, probably about a pound lighter than the others I've played, and on the light side for a 5-er I imagine. Cheers G

Greetings all... I had the camera out this afternoon so took the opportunity to take some pictures of my newish MTD 535. It's a "Marilyn" model, which means the body is chambered. The woods are: redwood burl top, alder body, maple neck, ebony finger board. Standard US MTD/Bartolini electronics. The other interesting thing is that it's one of the "Audi" MTDs because the top wood was originally destined to be used on Audi dashboards until Michael Tobias got hold of it. Purchased from Dave Scovell at Ultimate Basses in Canada http://www.ultimatebasses.ca/, who I would highly recommend to anyone who haven't heard of them or if you're considering using them. It's an awesome bass, and will be the last one out of the door if it ever comes to that. I also consider it to be my "mid-life crisis" bass, as my excuse for buying it was a certain landmark birthday Anyway, here's the prawn!
