2.
is this bass still up for grabs? the thing is all i have in return is a spector and a dingwall. you want cash dont you? how did you get this bass in the first place?
hi Jay, yes I'm afraid I'm only looking for a sale, for a number of reasons. I bought it (used and) direct from the US a few years ago. cheers G
3. SOLD Gallien Krueger MB150 E - (112 III) combo I'm thinking I'd like to try something different, and therefore this will become surplus to requirements. I am the original owner, and bought it from the Bass Merchant about 3 years ago. I have all the original packaging, and also a Rockbag case. Just like this, in fact: http://www.thomann.de/gb/gallien_krueger_m..._iii_bundle.htm I'm asking for £400
4. here's a few I like Art Blakey - On The Ginza (stumbled upon this once, great tune) Freddie Hubbard - Red Clay (fans of A Tribe Called Quest might recognise this), great tune. Rusty Bryant - Zoo Boogaloo, the tune that got me into the whole organ-combo bands, along with Grant Green's Sookie Sookie. Charles Earland - Marcia's Waltz - love this guy's playing and was lucky enough to see him at the Jazz Cafe. and here's his version of Red Clay (also with Mr Hubbard, and Joe Henderson) And finally, McCoy Tyner - I saw him play this live at the Blue Note in NY at a tribute gig to Elvin Jones shortly after he had passed away. Jack DeJohnette was on drums, Ravi Coltrane on sax, and they just blew my head off. cheers G
5.
Fancy trading it for a five string hand-made Bacchus super jazz (19mm spacing too!) In perfect nick. Regards, D
Hi Damo, Sorry, not looking for any trades, as I need the funds towards something very specific. Cheers G
Looks great, how much does it weigh?
I don't know for sure, and unfortunately I can't weigh it at the moment (because its 200 miles away), but I'd guess at around the 9lb mark. Cheers
6. just found some youtube clip of a dude playing BSR5J - I guess it's representitve of my bass. It sounds to me like the EQ is quite flat on there, or that it's in passive mode.
7. i've had my eye on that - the SWR rig I never bought - I went for the Basic 350 (more power) and the Bigfoot 2x12" cab (lighter). I'm sure this sounds great though
8. thanks chaps! Indeed it is, my first "high-end" bass. I will be sad to see it go - superb sound, and low action, maybe the most playable bass I've owned. I've just become more accustomed to the wider 19mm string spacing, rather than the 18mm on this. Out of all the BSR5-J models I've seen for sale (4 or 5 others) over the last 5 years since I got this, this is by far the nicest looking. Some amazing grain patterns, but still very under-stated. Maple body and (bolt-on) neck, morado finger board (I think), Smith BMT preamp, Smith humbucking J pickups. Controls are Volume (pull/passive), Pan, Bass, Mid, Treble. 34" scale. 24 frets. Weight, I can't say, but would guess around 9lbs. Comes with the original Smith hard-shell case with case candy (Smith wax, Smith leather strap). If there's anything else anyone needs to know, then don't hesitate to ask here, or via PM. cheers Gwilym
9. 1997 Ken Smith BSR5-J £1400 Only pic I have at the moment: Can be tried and tested in West London not to far from Barons Court on the District Line, and 10 minutes walk from the Olympia exhibition centre. Cheers G
10.
+1
yes indeed, I'm still sitting here looking at the damn thing
11. If you're hauling a large/heavy cab around, then yes a car is useful. I used a taxi once when we played a gig in the west end where parking would have been a nightmare, and I wanted a couple of brews too
12. so, so tempting. I let mine go for £550 3 years ago, and I think that was a bargain then. I'm sure this won't be around very long...
13. Is there a head phone socket on this? It doesn't look like it, but thought I'd double check. Diolch! G
14.
Hi mate So what amp are we talking about, don't keep us in suspense.
well, it looks like if missed out on it. but, it was a Sadowsky SA200. It's on hold for someone until next Weds, and it sounds like a done deal. If it falls through, I'm going to take it, but it sounds unlikely
15.
Probably the wrong section, but PM'd all the same.
yes, posted from my phone earlier, and got the wrong section - mods, please feel free to move it Finbar, checking my PMs...
16. Bought new a couple of months ago, and hasn't left the house. It's been used, but as near mint/new as you'll get A little too long for me, hole to hole it goes 45" to 56" I will trade for a short gs1, or a long version of the Comfort Strapp, which should measure in the region of 38" to 45" Condition wise they should also be vg+ Cheers G
17. Are there output trim pots on the basses pre amps that you can adjust?
18. These basses are fantastic, I had one for a while, but went in my 4 string bass clear out. I probably should have kept it.
19.
How heavy is it and can you lift it?
just over 40lbs. 10+ times more than my MarkBass F500 - but yes, I've been working out
20.
Ultra-comprehensive thread here http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=294
cheers
21. Hello all, I'm very tempted to pull the trigger on an all-valve head, I've done my research on the amp, and it's highly regarded, so I've no real need to find out any more about that specific amp. However, what are the general considerations when buying a used all-valve amp - assuming that everything is working as it should? Is it purely to do with the condition/usage of the valves themselves, and whether or not I might have to fork out for a re-valve at some not-too-distant point in the future? That's the only thing I can think of cheers G
22.
my friend have a bump from me
thanks Manos hope you're still digging the F? I'm surprised there's been so little interest in this, I think it's fairly priced? It really does need to go to a good home now - my new MTD arrived a few weeks ago, and I can't justify having 2 of them, let alone 3. If this had 24 frets and the neck was as slim (it's a slightly deeper front-to-back) as the others I'd probably keep it. So bump again for a great (or even fantastic!) bass. I guess I'm open to trades, but if that happens then it pretty much has to be a local deal, and the basses should be what I'd consider to be easier to sell on (e.g. a 4 string Sadowsky or something in that vein), so no battered old basses (unless it's a pre-CBS Fender ), or anything where it'd be difficult to establish a market value. So hit me with any offers etc - the worst I can do is say no. As always, I'd prefer prospective buyers to try before they buy (West London), but I can (probably) ship in the UK/EU. I have a proper box to put it in now, so should be able to adequately package it without incurring the £30 cost at Mailboxes Etc.
23. Sounds to me like they are trying to deter people from asking for extras that are time consuming to make and distract them from building basses. Also, they have staff to pay a living wage in an expensive city, and probably expensive rent to pay in a prime Brooklyn location. This is the real world, not some far east sweat-shop.
24. These are great amps, I'm very happy with mine. Worth noting that the voltage is not switchable though., so this is probably set for 230/240volts ? Good luck with the sale, someone will be lucky to get it
25. Tempting! A great price on a neck thru Thumb bass.
