4.
Yep that was me - I seem to have a bit of an EBS fetish going at the moment - that and the fact that I picked it up for under £100 including shipping
nice one all PMs replied to...
 5.
Bargain and a damn fine warranty offer! Would you be prepared to split?
hey Merton, yes as long as the power amp sells first. not sure how I would price them individually thought. my current price kind of reflects a "buy the pre amp, get the power amp free" scenario. If I split, some thing like £175 for the pre, and £50 for the power amp - I'll get all the money I have in it back, and still a good deal for whoever gets each piece i think.
I'm very tempted, but I have to fly out to Dubai tonight. Is someone going to beat me to it?
who knows
I've seen a couple of the PPA300's sell for around the £200 mark on Ebay recently - I'd been watching them to partner my Trace Pre-Amp! Bought an EBS instead though so I'm not in contention now. Excellent price, someone should snap this up quickly
hi Molan, wow, i didn't think the PPA would attract that much moolah... bargain for some one then Was is you who bought that EBS 1u power amp?
I'm interested, getting some cash through soon, so will keep you posted... Pics?
proper pics defo up on the weekend... i've got one which I have from the original auction, I'll upload it now 2 secs..
 6.
PM'D
SOLD, pending the usual...
 7.
where bouts are you??
London
 8.
Gwil, the price is fair, I think. Although now discontinued the 'Bass' model that you're selling is easier to use that its replacement, which is the combined guitar/bass model P
thanks Platypus - if anyone thinks not, they can still make me an offer
 9. Korg Pandora PX4B (the red one) - nice little thing, with quite a few bells and whistles. I only used it for home headphone practice though, and I can use my EBS Microbass for that now, so this may as well go to a good home. Good contition with original (if slighly flat) box, and manual, and guitar strap attachment thing. will post some pics up over the weekend. These I think are discontined now, and I'm not sure what the going rate is - Let's start with £40 inclusive of postage + paypal fees and see how we go
 10. for sale: Trace Elliott V-Type preamp/Trace Elliott PPA300 power amp. I "won" this pre/power combination on ebay a couple of years back, after I got a bit of GAS from listening to the sound clips of the V-Type pre on Basstasters. Anyhow, i haven't used it since I bought it other than the occasional use at home, so I guess I should let it go! The previous owner used both extensively (from new i think), and so cosmetically they are not perfect, but sound very nice. I will get pictures up as soon as, probably on the weekend now. I've got some £225 invested in this - I'd like £200 firm, and no trades thanks, got some stuff potentially incoming already, hence freeing up a bit of cash to help soften the blow cash on collection please - and given that I've not used this gear a great deal, and never pushed it, I'll offer a money back guarantee if there are any problems with it - the catch is you'll have to collect/return in West London (btw, can't get on here during work hours, so don't expect a quick reply during the day) Details of the PPA300 on page 17 of this pdf file: Details of the V-Type in this pdf: Pictures (click on them for full size):

 15. bump, still available - there seems to be a glut of Sei Jazz 5's on here at the moment too
 16. bump, I've withdrawn the Sandberg, and the Zon is still available. I would trade for a NS CR5/CR5M electric upright cheers G
 17.
would you consider shipping?
hiya, sorry I can't - don't have time to source packaging materials, or wait in for couriers I'm afraid. got to be collection or mutually convenient meetup.
if it's still about at the end of the month I'll be very interested in pairing this with my new Warwick Quad VI
let me know! cheers G
 18.
Great Link That... And a good plug for the man...
+1
But i think you are wasting your time...
i disagree thanks for having the time to post it I saw Mr H at Ronnie Scotts about 5 years back, and he was absolutely awesome. would love to see him live again. not just a good bassist - such a good band leader too, it was all about the music and ensemble playing, no ego. total class. see there are a few jazz fans here
 19. a Trace Elliott T-Bass might be of interest? http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=18856&hl=trace

 21.
Hi Gwil, Good to hear from you - hope all's well? That's a good point because I checked the grill and it's very securely screwed on, so maybe it is something else like the side handles.. which are the same as the ones you described.. I still think I might use some neopryne as well, but what did you do to rectify it in the end? Cheers Nik
hi Nik, I'm good thanks, even better with the sunny weather I trust you are also ok? Sorry, I should have said what I did to fix it! Well, before I realised what it was, the Bass Centre had already replaced a driver! When I did figure out that it was the handle(s), (they were just hanging a bit loose when they were at the hanging vertical position) I was able to adjust the foam around the handles by pushing them as much as possible to the "side", (towards the right-angle of the metal), this seemed to brace the handle in postition a bit better but pushing it out by a very slight amount, which was enough to stop the vibration. cheers Gwil
 22. hi Nik on the off chance that it isn't the grille, you might want to check the side handles too. My old SWR Bigfoot used to rattle occasionally, it turned out to be the side handles, (the ones that are spring mounted and lift up/out to the horizontal). cheers G
 23.
I quite agree and I only mentioned DB technique as an earlier poster had mentioned using a technique "like" DB which it was in fact not, I corrected and he agreed. There are however parralels between using ring finger to support little finger in octave movement, and DB technique. I personally use a combination of index and ring and 2nd and little, and I employ one finger per fret all over the instrument. I do have long, strong fingers though, ironically primarily because of my DB training.
when I learned the DB, I was taught to use all 4 fingers (based on my teacher's studies with Gary Karr), rather than the standard (Simandl?) technique. the idea being, why waste the use of a finger? in practice, on both BG and DB, I'll use all four fingers when the need arises, and adopt a more traditional double bass technique when i want to be physically more economical.
 24.
ah yes I knew they were tuned in fifths. Going to ask a really dumb question now but one I've never considered before... what tuning are double basses in?

eadg
indeed - exactly the same as a bass guitar
