Nice (sounding) WAL: but no photos, no PayPal (Bank Transfer only) and it belongs to a Ms. Ork... in the Orkneys:- http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vie...A:IT&ih=018 sceptical?....
no paypal, no pictures no feedback, and a location that would make local pickup impossible. They might as well say they're in Mogadishu. wouldn't touch it with a bargepole, and I would need one if I was headed to the Orkneys for a local pickup. ;-)
 2. hi Nick, you have a couple of PMs from me...
 3. hi John, if you decide to split, i'd like to get in line for the extention cab and 1 gig bag, cheers G
 4. Bought by me from new (late summer 2005), from the US. It does a great job. Simple to use and does exactly what it says on the tin. Here's the link to the manufacturers web site: http://www.aphex.com/pedals.htm "The 1404 gives clean, transparent compression for all instruments, from subtle to extreme amounts of compression without altering your tone or breaking up. Punch through the mix, live or studio, with enhanced tone and total dynamic control." and who am I to argue with that As I said it was bought by me from new, and was lightly used for rehearsals and a few gigs. It is not mint, but is in very good condition. I sold it once before (to Beedster), when I thought i didn't need it, then I bought it back from him about 6 months later, when I realised that i missed it! Price wise, one went on basschat for £55 recently, and I saw one go on ebay in the last couple of weeks for £59. So I think if I say £55 incl p&p and any Paypal fees, it's a pretty fair deal. I'd consider a trade for a quality octaver or envelope filter. eg EBS or similar. But mainly looking for a sale. By the way, I'm selling this as I've just bought a Demeter Compulator (which also is a optical compressor) from kjb, so I'm moving it on... Cheers G
 5.
I even thought about having the cab myself ;o) Here's a thumbs up for Gwil. Top guy to deal with and if this cab has only been used a few times, then it is practially brand new, as I didn't gig it anymore than a few times either, before I went to 'more cones'. I love the clarity of the Accu' gear, really nice indeed.
Cheers Dood....
Does it have enough as a stand-alone cab?
hi Rumble well, if like me you're playing small to medium sized rooms then I would say yes. I've used it with a Thunderfunk TF550 head, and I didn't have to push it (or the amp) hard at all to get the desired volume. Most of the time there was PA support too, but I think you'd get away with it one it's own for a "pub" gig. pics will go up sometime over the weekend... cheers G
 6.
If it's just for around the house and the schro'/LMII is for gigs why not go for a PJ briefcase, rather than suitcase? Just a thought....
FWIW, I played a Lakland 5502 and a Sandberg Ken Taylor through a PJ Briefcase recently, and although it sounded pretty good, I wouldn't think about gigging it, unless it was a really quiet gig or you had some PA support..., ideal size shape for home practice thought. I went for a GK MB150 eventually. Perfect balance of size/weight/sound/volume.
 7.
well, I managed to speak to Barry this afternoon. As predicted, he was full of apologies and the only explanation he could offer was they'd been "disorganised". Disorganised as it took him 2 weeks to sign a bloody cheque. It took them over 4 weeks to implement back up procedures. I didn't let rip as I don't think it would have done any good, Barry would have just accused me of being unreasonable and its obvious to me that they're not going to change. Cheque is supposed to arrive tomorrow or Saturday but I am NOT going back to shop or sell there again. F*** 'em.
frankly, after R5R5's problems, I'm amazed you didn't just use the Gallery
 8. hello basschatters I've a Accugroove Tri210 that I'm going to be selling. It's the version with the controversial switchable 4ohm/8ohm impedance. I think you can safely assume that it's a 4ohm cab regardless of the switch setting. I bought this from Dood two to three years ago now. In that time I've gigged it about 4 or 5 times, and mostly it's been used at home. If you want more details, check the Accugroove website. (This version weighs 57lbs, the latest version might be a bit lighter) I'm looking for £500-ish for it, but feel free to make me a reasonable offer. Reasons for selling? I want a smaller cab (or 2) - and there are a few things knocking around here at the moment that I may go for if this shifts. Condition is 8/10 IMHO. Used but far from abused. I guess this will be pickup only... (but I could potentially deliver in the south-east, and probably anywhere on a direct route from London to North or South Wales ) cheers G
 9.
Is this Bass still up for Sale? Would you consider a trade for a Warwick 2006 "Dirty Blonde" Ltd Edition Thumb (5 string version)? Thanks
sorry mate, a sale is agreed/pending... so unless the sale goes belly up, it's pretty much sold.
 10. i'll take it - pm sent
 11. add an extra 22% and you'll get a pretty accurate figure. chances of getting away with it = zero. all couriers will charge you on behalf of HM Customs & Excise, and charge you a handling fee of around £8 (i think) for doing so
 12. hi Alex sorry to hijack your thread, but i've just bought one of these and was wondering what the "Rockbag" cases are like? btw, for anyone whose considering this, they sound fanstastic for such a small/light package. and it reproduces a low B very well (certainly at any volume that I've played at home!) cheers G
 13. hi mr gig, i'm assuming you are not going to split this lot? possibly interested in the head on it's own. don't think my back would take the cab... cheers G
 14.
That's lovely... I'd really like the 4-string version, like Tal Wilkenfeld's instrument.
theres a 4 stringer on ebay at the moment ... and bump for a 5 stringer
 15.
Oooh very nice Gwilym, what's the top ?
hi Machines - cheers mate! in all honesty, I'm not sure what the woods are - I'm not sure if that info was included when I bought it. All i do know is that it sounds monsterous
 16.
not bass i know, but take a look at this guy
no worries, thats pretty cool for "jazz flute" how about this duet with Miroslav Vitous and Stanley Clarke - at least there bass on this one
 17. Here's my Sandberg Basic 6

 19.
Beautiful bass, Gwilym! IIRC, didn't you have that when I bought the Wal Pro 2e off you back in 2005? Nik
hi Nik yes, I think I did have it then - did you have a spin on it? I can't quite remember. love the Eagle and Tobias too! Not so sure about those leather scratchplate Wals - very "old-school" Even though the Wal Pro II was a great sounding/playing bass, I've no regrets selling it, as I was concentrating on 5 stringers by then, and cos it couldn't have found a better home with Nik. The MachIII fretless was a case of last in, first out. A great bass that I realised I would use very often, other than to tinker with at home, and having £1500 invested in something and not using it a great deal wasn't ideal. It went to a good home too, in Californ-I-A. Dread to think how much it's market value is now Also I have a nice other fretless, so wasn't going to be fretless-less. The only reason I'm regretting it now is that I'm gassing for a nice 5 string frettless, and the Wal was *nice*. cheers G
 20.
Ram usually helps computers but if your already running 4.5gb you should be well in the clear. The best headphones ive come across for mixing (live and at home) are DT150's by beyer. Ill let someone else explain RAM
RAM = Random Access Memory. Are you sure you have 4.5Gb of it? That doesn't seem right. Chips usually come in pairs i think (for technical reasons), so you might have 2x500M = 1Gb, 2x1Gb = 2Gb. Given that, I don't think it's possible to have 4.5Gb of RAM as it isn't a mulitple of any memory size I've heard of. Maybe you've got 4.5Gb of hard disk space available ? If you go to Control Panel -> System Properties, on the "General" tab it'll tell you how much RAM you have. EDIT - doh!, just saw you're talking about a MAC. Not sure how much of the above applies!
 21. i think that'll be the Wal MkIII fretless that I probably should have kept on to, here's a pic (courtesy of R5R5 who was the previous owner) edit: and why did I sell it? Because I already had a fretless bass, I thought I had *TOO MANY BASSES* and should get rid of it !!! LOL
 22.
Ive been looking for a while at monster cables, been recommednded to me by a couple of friends but the price is a bit of a put off, £88 for a lead!!!!!!!!!!!http://www.stringsdirect.co.uk/Catalogue/default.aspx?categoryId=250 They seem to be a lot cheaper stateside but still at a very high price for cables, was just wondering if anyone had any experience with them and whether/how they justified the price
To answer your specific question. i bought a couple of the 12' Monster cables off ebay from the US as they worked out pretty cheap, even by US standards - it worked out at around £20 a lead i think - about half the price of buying one over here. This was around 18months ago. My previous cable was a Klotz cable I bought in the early 90's (that was still and is still going strong). Now I suspect that cable technology had moved on a fair bit in the 15 years or so since I bought the Klotz cable, so it may not be a fair comparison, and also the Klotz was a longer cable. So, what was the difference? Well, I could only really hear it on the B string which was slightly tighter/more focused when using the Monster cable over the Klotz - but only if you listened quite carfully. You certainly wouldn't hear the difference in a gig scenario, or in the mix of a recording. So, I'm sure good quality cable will give you a decent sound regardless of the brand. All IMHO of course As an aside, I'll also say that in my experience using proper speaker cable between my amp and cabinet has improved my tone far more than changing instrument cable. Regardless of what you do, +1 for OBBM, he can serve up the goods...
 23.
I'm cabless at the moment and with a gig approaching this weekend I thought I'd better do something PDQ. But first, let me go back in time to a few cabs ago, when I got GAS for a GK 212 NEO to go with my GK1001RBII head. I rang around loads of shops and got the same old story.."sorry none in stock, GK only ship 4 times a year into the UK and we always have back orders so we sell out before the shipment arrives". sh*te, sh*te and treble sh*te. Anyway, I thought I'd have another go after my wanted ad on here didn't really throw up anything suitable so I ring around again this morning and get nowhere so in desperation, I ring Beyer Dynamic - the distributor asking if they could trace one for me through their records. Then the distributor man comes out with a statement that floored me ..."we've got plenty of stock..in fact we can sell you one direct if you like, get it to you as quick as you like sir" What? It isn't hard to confuse me at the best of times but will someone please explain to me the logic in this....shops can't get enough of them and are taking orders against future deliveries and all this time, there's perfectly good stock gathering dust in the distributor's warehouse? It's no wonder shops are closing down. Why don't I just shut up and order one off Beyer? Well I would but Beyer want just under £600 for the cab when most shops sell for about £525. Trouble is, they never have any.
Homer - give Mike Walsh a call at the Bass Merchant. I went there a couple of weekends ago for a nose around, and also to try a GK MB150 combo that I've been gassing after for ages. Anyhow, Mike only had the MB150S in stock which was good enough for me to judge the sound etc, but my heart was set on the MB150E (cos of a few extra features that i wanted, aux input being one of them), so I ordered one thinking it'd take a few weeks to arrive. Mike called me today, and it has arrived - 9 days later, or 6 business days. Mike was a top fella, and totally on top of his game, and sorted me out with a very competetive price. Give him a call, you never know, you might have one by the weekend :-) edit: here's the new Bass Merchant web site Bass Merchant cheers G
