The Short Scale Bass Appreciation Society!
scrumpymike replied to Baloney Balderdash's topic in Bass Guitars
Last time I looked I think they had all the cheaper range but only a limited choice of the more expensive Artist version. -

I've now discovered the Retrovibe website and the Strat would be my preference too. -

These cab's looked and sounded great at the Bash shoot-out. Stevie's done a great job on the design as has LukeFRC for making them look like a top-quality product.

Great condition with cover. Price doesn't include delivery but happy to meet-up with buyer anywhere within an hour's drive from Taunton (I'm 10 min's away from J25 M5). Used as one of a pair with an HPF-equipped 800W amp running clean, so never driven too hard. Nice and fresh-looking. Pic's to follow but there's really nothing to show except what you'd want to see 🙂

Ha-ha! As the saying goes: 'Tell 'em, tell 'em you've told 'em - then tell 'em again!' As an owner of the active Artist version, I totally agree provided you're not bothered that it doesn't LOOK like a J bass (or any other bass). The OE Aguilar classic '70s retro jazz pickups are killer. -

I've said how much I enjoyed the cab shoot-out and the LFSys cabs - but very remiss of me not to have thanked the people who made it happen: so thanks to Phil and Stevie. For me, the VERY BEST thing of all is that I didn't need to lift a finger to make it happen 😊 -

Oops! Two more highlights I missed: listening to Dave 'Revving' the DB, and talking to Knighty about the classic motorbikes he and his dad own - but that's a whole other story ☺️ -

Just gathered ourselves up off the sofa and jumped (OK, crawled!!) onto the Bash topic. Thanks for your kind words. We had an absolute blast as always. They're always really enjoyable but on a subjective level this Bash was the best so far. Brilliant to see the regulars back plus some new faces and the usual array of superb gear. My highlights were playing Stewie's Reverends (tempted), Keith's Acinonyx, the cab shoot-out, learning from Stevie that my choice of 'best shoot-out cab' was actually the cheaper one he makes 🙂 - and seeing PeaTurgh draw the raffle ticket that won his son a bass 👏. Mrs. Scrumpy (aka Gabrielle) wants you to know that she is so grateful for the appreciative comments received both at the hall and on here. Back to the sofa - we feel we've earned it. Janey's pics will follow tomorrow. -

Just a quick shout-out to Stevie and Phil. The stage area is yours to share so feel free to decide between you how you want to set your stuff up and just go for it when you get there. -

Actually, the more I think about this, the more I like the idea... so let's pretend the start time is 9am 🙂 Seriously though, many hands make light work, so any early arrivals will be very welcome. Hey Frank, if we play our cards right, we'll be the ones sat with our feet up enjoying breakfast and a natter 😉 -

And the prize goes to Woody for correctly answering that proceedings start at 10am. Mind you, we'll be there from around 8.30 and the doors will be open, but beware! If you come in early, you'll be helping us set up. Mind you, you will also get your breakfast 😋 -

BASH NEWS BULLETIN! Got a very interesting PM from 'our' Stevie, as follows: "Here's a heads-up on some of the cabs I'll be bringing with me on Sunday: https://www.lfsys.co.uk . I've not announced this development on Basschat yet but will be doing so during the course of this week (now done, see Affiliates section - Mike). I guess this means that the officlal world premier of LFSys bass cabs will be at the SW Bash😊." Needless to say, I dived straight onto Stevie's website - and I really liked what I saw! Basically, what he's done is to small-batch-productionise two version of the 12" home-build cab project that's known to many on this forum and features regularly at our S-W Bashes. The rationale is pretty obvious: lots of people have been telling Stevie how impressed they are with the self-build cab but don't have the time or skill to take it on. Most of them go on to say that they'd buy into it if someone would build it for them. Well, now Stevie is that someone in the guise of LFSys. Won't spoil it by telling you any more, but suffice to say that they look the business from what I've seen on the website. Can't wait to see and hear them on Sunday! A NEW-PRODUCT WORLD PREMIER AT THE S-W BASS BASH? I need to go and have a lie-down! Hang on a minute, there's chienmortbb's range of cables too! This calls for an extra-large portion of Mrs. Scrumpy's crumble! (Don't worry guys, there'll be plenty left for you 🙂 )
