  1. All good, really hope you can make it.
  2. ☹️ We'll miss you - but I'm sure the blooze/blouse/blews/blues day will be good 😎
  3. Well spotted, I didn't see that. I'm sure the HB-for-Gotoh replacement hardware is more than good enough, so the added switch makes the bass even better value for money.
  4. Interestingly just spotted that they're no longer fitting the premium Gotoh hardware mine came with, even though the price is the same.
  5. Harley Benton MV-4MSB gets my vote provided you're not bothered by the name on the headstock. I've got one and it's superb. Way above what you'd expect for just under £200 and I'd say compares favourably with stuff at the top of your price range.
  6. I sorted the strap balance with an extension bracket fixed to the original mounting points and added strap-lock buttons too. Intended to tidy it up a bit but you don't actually see it with the strap fitted.
  7. These are absolute killer basses! I've got the A2S in black the build quality is faultless. I'll be likely to add an A1H to the collection if I see a used one. The Aguilar pickups are amazing.
  8. Yes it has.
  9. Interesting to note that the supply of used s-s basses on the Basschat marketplace has pretty much dried up of late. Does this suggest we've all decided we like them so much that we're keeping them? My personal preference for the 'Gibson' scale length goes back to the '60s.
  10. We do need lots more pre-payments though 🙂
  11. OK folks, it's the moment we've all been waiting for - this year's Bash menu 😋 Mrs Scrumpys menu Oct 24.docx
  12. OK folks, time for the usual shout-out for two vital Bash ingredients: raffle prizes and pre-payments! RAFFLE PRIZES Please let us know what goodies you can bring so we've all got extra reasons for coming. As our regulars know already, pretty much everybody invariably ends up winning something - even if it's donated to them out of sympathy by one of the multiple winners. I'll kick things off with a couple of premium-quality Bash T-shirts 😮 PRE-PAYMENTS Those of you who are happy to pay your £13 in advance please ping me a PM and I'll send you payment details for PayPal or bank transfers. We need at least 20 of you to step up to the plate to make sure we have our costs covered. (NOTE: In practice, we've always been able to give refunds on the odd occasion when a pre-payer has been unable to attend.) Thanks, and over to you!
  13. That's neepheid posting from Aberdeen by the way - obviously still following the Bash topic! Hope you're keeping well pal and sorry that you're beyond the range of our home delivery service. We'll be thinking of you when we're tucking into Mrs. Scrumpy's legendary apple crumble and custard 😋
  14. You'd be in with a chance of winning the 'furthest travelled' award given that our Basher from Aberdeen can't make it this time due to gig commitments 😊
  15. Not a good start - you've got 2 laughs already.
  16. The straws - maybe.
  17. A half and 8 straws?
  18. I'll post some suggestions for cheap accommodation. People do tend to go their separate ways after the Bash. Can be quite an intensive and tiring day - especially for the organisers 🙂
  19. Jumped on Thomann's website to check out their short-scale stock - just out of interest as I already have my 'ultimate' s-s Sandy. They're listing 19 basses but only have 2 in stock! In my experience over recent years, that's an all-time low and they're showing the popular base-model Lionel BB not expected in stock until next June!!

  21. Love it! Re finish, funnily enough that's what caught my eye on your original wall-hanging pic. Your pick-up/control configuration is my absolute fave. It's just so versatile and and I don't get why there aren't more basses like it out there. That was what made me buy one of the otherwise ergonomically challenged Fender Rascal basses that I later had re-bodied by our AndyJr.
  22. That has to be worth seeing - and hearing.
  23. I can identify with that 🙂. But we'll still miss you ☹️
  24. Thanks for that Phil. I - and no doubt others - will have a think and post our thoughts on here. My initial one is to go for the 8" cab build as the video will make it useful beyond Bash day. Although I'm strangely intrigued by the PA option. For me, that's always been the 'elephant' on stage 😐
  25. SHOOT-OUT OR CAB BUILD? Our friend Phil is asking whether we want another cab/amp-based shoot-out this year or a self-build session featuring the new 8" cab. He is also able to do a session on the 'dark art' of the PA system but feels that may just be a step too far away from bass stuff. What's the verdict?
