  1. Brings to mind a phrase I haven't heard for a while: rip-off Britain!
  2. Not sure what the Mesa cab's cost or how they sound but the Subway heads I've had (first D800, now D800+) sound killer through BF cabs.
  3. I really like my GK MB800 Fusion with its valve pre. Interestingly, my other amp is a Subway D800+ and I really can't decide which I prefer. In practice, I tend to choose according to the nature of the venue. That would make the TT800 a pretty obvious choice for me if money were no object - but unfortunately it is.

  5. Hope you're bringing her along to the Bash Andy 😍

  7. First post on page 1 now edited to give full details of re-scheduled Bash and venue including pic of hall entrance gate 👍
  8. Tempting but regrettably I think that really would be 'a bass too far' 😐
  9. Ooooooooh!! That MW 2 in black is right up my alley 😋
  10. Meant to add that I'm not selling cos I don't like it - I've got two and don't need them both any more!
  11. Portaflex amp in virtually mint condition with everything working as it should and no dings/scuffs/scratches. These are very good amps indeed for anyone who prefers classic warmth over hi-fi. Hi and low boost switches give good range of sounds. Nice pairing with the Barefaced Two10S it's sitting on - also for sale on here. Price (including very tidy Gator bag) is collected from near J25 of M5 but happy to pack properly if buyer arranges/pays for delivery. Alternatively will meet at services between Bristol and Exeter for handover. THIS ITEM HAS BEEN SELF-ISOLATING WITH ME FOR 9 WEEKS SO IF IT'S NOT COVID-19-FREE WE'RE ALL DOOMED 😉 http://
  12. Hi Jon, not much to add as Frank's beaten me to it! Just pay on the door and keep an eye on this topic for updates. You'll also find pic's in my first few posts. All your food and drink is included in the £10 admission.
  13. SOLDThis is the 4-12ohm switchable cab with lightweight fabric grille in very good condition and working as it should. The only minor blemishes that stop me describing it 'as new' are a mild case of the Tolex lift along the joins (not uncommon with BF cabs) and a very slight compression ding on one side edge, where it's had a low-speed collision with a blunt object (Tolex undamaged). The cover is a bit tatty round the corners but otherwise sound. I've photographed these blemishes as best I could. Price is collected from near J25 of M5 or I'm happy to drive a sensible distance for safe handover. 14. "...but now they just seem to be one of a dozen companies all scrapping in a limited marketplace with some rather bland low end product..." You've hit the nail on the head there NJ! And that is precisely why poor customer support is all it takes to kill your company. Watch out Hartke!
  15. I've just read the favourable LX8500 review in this month's BGM and was getting interested (probably in the 500w version as that's what I'm after). According to the article, Hal Leonard Europe is still the distributor though. If Hartke really have upped their game with this new valve pre-amp range, their discredited distributor will kill it before it grows in Europe/UK.
  16. This year's Big Fat South-West Bass Bash is provisionally re-scheduled for Sunday 11th October, circumstances permitting. However, we will all have to self-isolate for 14 days before and after that date (😉just kidding... maybe).
  17. My understanding is that Newtone don't have the machinery to make flats.
  18. That teardrop-shaped s-p looks really classy!
  19. Another fabulous instrument Andy! I know from experience the enjoyment of owning one (or two 😊) of your instruments but I can only imagine the satisfaction you must get from building them.
  20. I think the only way you'll know for sure is to try one. Re weight, I know that some of the Maru' chambered s-s basses get close to 7lbs. These two of mine - Elwood L 4a (now sold) and Cazpar 4p - are around that weight and give you an idea of the opposite ends of their design spectrum. http:// http://
  21. Mine was an HCT, don't recall any neck-dive issues.
  22. I had a lovely cherry-red one and liked it a lot but tonally it was a bit of a one-trick pony and I really couldn't get on with the deeper body that set my right arm/hand away from me and placed an uncomfortable square edge under my right fore-arm.
  23. Very useful summary. Based on my ownership of the two quoted above, I would add: Both my SWB-1s were pre-Chowny and didn't balance well due to the lighter bodies of the earlier basses (Scott W's supplier was in China but Stephen C moved production to India); apart from my custom-built gig basses, the 'Ray is the best s-s I've owned as it somehow manages to combine the s-s positives (comfortable to wear and play) with the 'presence' of a standard-scale (looks, sounds and feels substantial) and is huge value for money.
