  1. Remember playing one at The London Bass Centre around 1990 - once played never forgotten! IIRC, £3500 was the asking price new back then so whoever buys this one gets all that heritage and patina for nothing 😉 GLWTS
  2. Cripes! Do I really own something that beautiful? (Ohhhh yesssss😍)
  3. Great - just cover it in strawberry jam and we'll stick half a sponge cake on either side of it! 😋
  4. OK, so here (at last!) is the promised list so far, made up of people who have either said they're definitely coming or are pretty certain. If your name isn't there but should be (or is there but definitely shouldn't be), let me know. I will update the list of names and add details of the kit people tell me they're bringing: 0175westwood29 Andyjr1515 - Kert's single cut, Pete's piccolo bass and maybe my bits-lying-around-doing-nothing-so-I-may-as-well 6 string dreadnought? 5. Andy, kindly reassure us that no live pigeon was harmed in the course of this process 😮
  6. Hi Pete, it's as Merton said. This one's a peach.
  7. Great stuff Andy - hope this arrangement proves to be grandchild-proof 😉
  8. For everyone's info, we currently have 25 confirmed Basschat members/friends attending plus the usual sponsors and helpers. I'll post a listing this weekend.
  9. Thanks, will do. Jabba has also offered, so I'll pm him too. I was about to post my usual N-Y call for advance payments from those sure they're attending so I can pay for the hall booking in advance. As usual, I'll be happy to refund later to anyone who then can't make it due to unforeseen circumstances Any more offers will be gratefully received 👍
  10. Great basses these - and the wood grain on this one's nicely figured.
  11. I just took it on face value - and liked it! It will be nice if some of the alternative prog's suggested on here get made too.
  12. I played the Gretsch and liked it but didn't buy. I prefer the s-s Jag sound, look and feel with its lighter, chamfered-edge body. As already mentioned though, the downside of that is a touch of neck dive - not like an SG but still noticeable. I fitted a set of Hip Shot light-weight tuners to correct that on the grounds that I can always sell them separately if I move the bass on.
  13. Fender seem to have kept them a closely guarded secret. Apart from the ergo's (fixed by Andy's re-body), it was the best passive bass I'd ever played. Now it's the best in every respect. But enough of my bass - back to fleabag's 😉
  14. Hey Rich, were you the guy who shouted "Judas!" at that Dylan concert?? 😄
  15. Relax Andy, they're exactly as I told you I wanted them! Although it was mainly to maximise the continuous area of that lovely wood figuring, the ergo's of the switch arrangement are perfect for me. Glad that you've found a use for the remaining walnut and look forward to seeing the result.
  16. If her Birthday's the day after, you've got no excuse for not coming 😉 You could always bring her with you, as a few Bashers have already done - she'll certainly get a meal that's worthy of a Birthday - including cake!
  17. Thanks for the heads-up Blue. As a massive Beatles fan who came to love their music even more after being lured away by Hendrix and Cream, I'm looking forward to investigating this (I meet your age criteria too 😉). As usual, I'm refraining from waxing evangelical about The Beatles on this forum because all that really matters is what they mean to me (there are probably lots more like me out there). Still loving Hendrix and Cream as much as ever btw 🙂
