  1. Spectoremg: Never owned an Atelier Z but the word is that they're really nice. Bernard: Thanks, just read the review - KERRPOW!!
  2. Hey Bernard, is that one of yours? If it is, CONGRATULATIONS!! It's stunning and that sculpted back is a work of art. Almost forgot to ask - what is it?
  3. Just a reminder about the above and, especially, a LAST CALL FOR T-SHIRT ORDERS!! If you want one and haven't yet ordered (they're £12 each), please pm me your order with your size BY THIS THURSDAY 15th LATEST and I'll reply with payment details.
  4. On the slippery slope now - this is what I fell in to: http://
  5. PS Can't wait to see your pic's.
  6. I can relate to that feeling - been there twice and got 2 straps to prove it
  7. Thanks dannybuoy - and I really like that Duesy!
  8. BassBod - I sense another-other shoot-out: noisy fan contest Rich - Yes, I'm guessing a neutral-sounding amp will be the required non-variable.
  9. Good for you mate!! Nice to meet you and Bluejay at Olympia btw.
  10. I posted early in this thread about the delights of my 3-pup Fender Rascal with 5-way selector switch (plus extra positions via push-pull volume pot). Although I wasn't keen on the weight and body shape, I was (and still am) so impressed with the sounds and controls that the Rascal has since morphed in to this (thanks to Andy Jr): http:// This is by far the best bass I've ever owned or played.
  11. And you're on the list - finally! Now the London show is out of the way I'm back on 'bash' duties. IF THERE'S ANYBODY ELSE PLANNING ON COMING PLEASE LET ME KNOW ASAP - IT WILL HELP US PLAN FOR THE EVENT
  12. +1 - I'll hopefully make the time to do that and the other stuff I missed last time round.
  13. BASH UPDATE!! CHOWNY BASS Regrettably it's not going to be possible for Stephen Chown to attend this year's bash but I'm going to see if we can find a way of displaying examples of his newer stuff such as the top-of-the-range SWB-1 (which I would very much like to try). So, it looks like our self-build 12" cab team will be sharing the stage area with the Gillett Guitars exhibit plus (hopefully) a few Chowny basses on the side. RAFFLE If you have anything that would make a decent raffle prize, please put it to one side and bring it on the day. I've got a new Maruszczyk premium-quality wide leather strap, some new Maru strings and a few other odds & sods. CALL FOR MUGS (?!) Our otherwise perfect community hall only has piddly little cups so, although we'll be bringing some from home, it will be helpful if you bring your own - or (better still) buy one of the bass-bash mugs we'll be selling at a fiver apiece. http:// http:// T-SHIRTS will only be available on a pre-ordered/pre-paid basis this year - 'no takers, no T-shirts'. So, if you want one, please order and pay your £12 before Monday 12th March to avoid disappointment. http:// (Sorry about the models but it was a low-budget event) Not long now
  14. In the meantime, another bump.
  15. Gibson have apparently been having difficulties with the CITES permits needed for trading rosewood-containing products. That would certainly screw up their export business.
  16. Gibson is one of the best examples I know of snatching defeat from the jaws of victory. It really, really grieves me because I have such a soft spot - aka my brain?? - for the brand (as opposed to the company). I gigged a couple of delightful '70s LP Triumphs for years followed by a 2008 SG re-issue for some more years. The current management have taken a heritage that money just can't buy and pi55ed it up against a wall.
  17. Me too - I've only just got/tried the second one but not had chance to try both yet.
  18. Pleased to report another smooth sales transaction to add to Lee's feedback - everything just as you would wish from start to finish. No hesitation in recommending Lee.
  19. Those finishes are a clumsy attempt at offering something different. Talk about clutching at straws!! If Gibbo had got their marketing and quality-control acts together, their core product range would probably have kept them going too.
  20. Definitely, although I think the 12" self-build cabs don't have tweeters. I'd certainly be interested in comparing with my SC G3 cab's.
  21. I'll have my Barefaced G3 Super Compacts.
  22. Spotted this thread just as I was about to post the link below: https://www.digitalmusicnews.com/2018/02/16/gibson-guitar-bankruptcy/
  23. Hi Greg, bear in mind that having to increase string height to avoid fret buzz can sometimes be the trade-off for lower tension strings - which would be counter-productive. My low-tension experience is enhanced by the fact that I play short-scale basses, so I can't really recommend a specific standard scale-length string.
  24. Would you buy a used bass (or anything else at a grand) from this guy?!
  25. You'll be more than welcome - and in very good company!
