Correct - although the (active) tone control does a nice job of dialling the 'fatness' in and out. I don't have a lot of experience with electro-acoustics (or double basses) but this one comes much closer to the DB vibe than the ones I've played.

Stunning girl, instrument, playing and composition!!!

I'd be chuffed if somebody referred to me as 'cute' (which isn't likely to happen!). Is it beyond the realms of possibility that the receptionist in question might be equally pleased if she knew? Or would she consider it a coded message for something sexual, sinister and diminishing? -
Well, mine anyway! I've had serious GAS for this since I played it at the south-west bash. Actually, before that: as soon as I saw it on Michael Gillett's website. This really is a no-compromise beastie and it's now got the lowest action of any bass I've ever had. I'll post more thoughts and pic's when I've finished playing and looking at it - don't hold your breath "]http://

I must say that I understand the latest comments from Sibob and dyerseve and can appreciate both positions. Rushing to judgment can be dangerous and is all too easy when communicating remotely as we do on forums. -
You're missing the point. Probably quite unintentionally, but you are missing the point.
Nope, not missing it; just not accepting the validity of it.
"Nice tits", "fantastic arse". Sincere compliments, how could they possibly cause trouble?
But the OP didn't say that - or anything that's equivalent to that IMHO. Let's have a bit of tolerance here! -

It's a funny old world where saying something sincerely nice about somebody gets you in bother. -

Thanks for posting dyerseve - I enjoyed listening to (and looking at) the young lady in question. -
It's an optical illusion caused by Trace Elliot heft.
Yep, it's actually enough to cause a warp in space/time.

Gig 17 days after carpal tunnel surgery???
scrumpymike replied to chrisanthony1211's topic in General Discussion
Was that his technique for putting you to sleep?
Certainly a way to relax the patient. My anaesthetist was a biker and knew I was as he'd spotted me reading a bike mag in the waiting area. So that's what he/we talked about during the op and it definitely helped take my mind off the pain I was feeling. Turned out later that he hadn't got the anaesthetic dose quite right so it was a bit like being lightly tortured -
Scrumpy Mike is - or was - selling a pretty good TE set-up on here, tale a look, decently priced.
Thanks for the plug Lozz. Yep, still up - with a price reduction even! Never played an SMX head but my SMC300 GP7 sounds damn good. Also, the 1 x 15 cab it comes with is what TE described at the time as their new 'compact' design; it isn't by today's standards but its size and weight make it a manageable one-man lift compared to the other cabs around then.
No more struggling with big, heavy speakers and a great sound, no brainer!
Got it in one!
Got a couple of questions: What is the difference between a Jake and a Jake L? Is it correct to assume a 34" scale unless otherwise stated? Thanks.
Lightness achieved by a chambered body. Not sure whether other weight-saving measures are part of the standard L spec; my Elwood L also has lightweight tuners and alu bridge but I spec'd those. Re standard scale length of a Jake L, I believe it's 34" but check on the Public Peace website, where the description of each model clearly states what's available scale-wise.
Didn't you try one yourself at the Bash, or are you looking a buying one?
Yes I did, but it wasn't set up right for me and I didn't spend much time on it.

Looking for some feedback from anybody who's played a Gillett electro-acoustic bass. What do you think of the playability, sounds and looks, and what sort of stuff are you using it for? If you bought one, what made you do it - or if you didn't, what stopped you? Thanks, Mike

Gig 17 days after carpal tunnel surgery???
scrumpymike replied to chrisanthony1211's topic in General Discussion
Well surgery done, in and out in half an hour, here was me expecting to have a great big pressure bandage, and he shoves a plaster on it!!! He seems to think that a gig in 17 days should be ok and to start playing a little bit in a day or two!
You've got off more lightly than I did - especially on my second one. Sounds like a key-hole job but didn't think they could do carpals that way. -

The Big Fat South-West Bass Bash 2018!! 08/04/2018

Thanks for the positive feedback, honestly can't wait myself! Strangely, even the helpers who have nothing to do with bass loved it - the shared feeling seemed to be "what a nice crowd of guys" (and maybe the food had something to do with it too). -
