We low pass filter one driver on the Two10 (and continue that with its bigger siblings) because they're side by side. Vertically stacked drivers combine well in the real world - there's a reason line-array PA systems are so popular!
Alex, there appears (to me anyway!) to be a contradiction in what you say. With a multi-driver set-up, you state that a vertical arrangement works better than a side-by-side one - which I get. However, fitting two sets of rubber feet to your multi-driver cab's suggest that they are designed to be used in either orientation; in fact, the orientation of the 'Barefaced' logo on the Two10 cab suggests that it's actually intended to be used on its side - hence the need for a low-pass filter on one driver. But then, why do your 12" multi-cab's, which are obviously meant to be used vertically (emphasised by the placement of the BF logo) still have a low-pass filter on one driver? Why don't you just specify that all your multi cab's should be used in vertical orientation (obviously keep both sets of rubber feet for storage purposes) and do away with the low-pass filter?
Sure! It's as Alex described: in its simplest terms, you get a bass boost that fattens the sound up. I do try to keep my posts as jargon-free as possible, but sometimes you can't avoid it.
Thanks, and no criticism of your 'jargon' content intended btw. I find all this stuff about speakers/cabs interesting and am trying to increase my understanding if it.

Thanks for your detailed post Stevie, much of which regrettably goes over my head. Could you explain how this relates to the subjective reports from the OP and others (me included) that stacking a couple of One10s produces a much more enjoyable sound than using one on its own? (Sorry mate, on re-reading this it comes across as a bit flippant - which it's not meant to be. I'm just trying to understand.)
-
The 12" driver is the same in both cab's so each one should be capable of moving the same volume of air (unless the slightly different BB2 enclosure makes a difference - ask Alex). It really depends on whether you want the different high-frequency response offered by the BB2. In any case, if you are not quite happy with what you have, you need to find a cab that suits you better - from BF or another manufacturer.
No 'kind of' about it.
Certainly does - I'm surprised he doesn't do this for a living... no, wait a minute!

Having 2 x One10 cabs myself, I can confirm all of this! My 800w Genzler Magellan switches down to 2.7ohms and I'm tempted to replace my SC G3 with another One10 - one = good, 2 = better, 3 = even betterer

Haven't used pedal but 2-position factory-set tone-prints on TC amps are compression and octaver. Next most popular is apparently tube effect.
But isn't the One10 8 ohms?
Yep
We did have a batch of fans that were noisier than we would have liked it was caught quickly but there are a few out there, if it's troublesome we would be happy to swap the fan out for a quieter one for you. You are free to pop in and we can sort whilst you wait or if you want to pop it in the post we can sort and ship back to you. Just let me know. Cheers.
Thanks for your generous offer, which I am gratefully accepting (pm sent) - as market awareness and customer support goes, it just doesn't come any better than what you've done here
Yep, took a 3-page thread for me to realise I like what I've got, I just want more!
Makes sense to me - it's what I've done and appears to be the preferred route for BF owners on this forum generally. If money (and storage space) were no object I'd get a second SC and a third One10.

I was gigging a Midget T (previous gen 12" driver) and Super Compact G3 for a while and they worked well - separately and together. The only reason I sold the Midget was that I don't really need the 'T' and had meanwhile discovered the charms (for me anyway) of the One10. I like the subtle vintage colouration of the 10" driver in my covers band and have bought a second one. I find the permutations of the 3 BF cabs and 3 amps I now use (Eden WTX264, Ashdown RM500 EVO, Genzler Magellan 800) cover all the bases (and basses ). This is by far the best kit I've ever had and don't expect to change anything in the foreseeable future.
I bought the head thinking I'd try it and see if I liked it and I can't see me needing more power or other options in the foreseeable future.
Couldn't have put it better myself! Only thing I can fault is the relatively noisy fan - not really a problem in the gigs I do but is that normal?
-
One10 plus Eden WTX264 is what I use at home and for small/'unplugged'-type gigs.

Scratches, "Dings" and imperfections..

Worst thing for me is a single, obvious ding on an otherwise pristine bass. -
Can anyone see a good reason not to go ahead?
Not me, but that's not surprising as I couldn't find any good reason not to go ahead myself - twice. Not a single regret btw

I'm using a SC with 2xOne10s. Asked BF Alex and he doesn't recommend it because (in his words): ..."you lose focus, but a lot of people do it despite - or maybe because of that." Sounds very nice to me though, which I guess is all that counts!

Good grief Jabba - I take my hat off to you mate! The stuff that you and Andy JR do really floats my boat - it's the detailing that I love like the hole in the head-stock so you can hang it up on a wall peg
(amazing combo Quilter + One10)
Mine is Eden WTX-264 (small, transparent and cheap as chips!!) + One10. Hey, just thought about the new TE 200w Elf... now that WOULD be minimalist!!!
I'm quite happy with the Mesa so there's no pressing reason to change it. I was just contemplating moving it on for a 4 ohm cab on the assumption that it would be louder with the increased wattage from the amp. However, it seems my assumption is not necessarily correct and there are more factors that need to be taken into consideration. So I might just hang on to it now. Maybe.... One unexpected factor that has come out of the thread in favour of changing cabs is that of weight. I've no idea what the Mesa weighs but it's a good weight for its size, I'd guess around 15 Kg. I'm so used to lugging it about and haven't really thought about it before, but looking at the specs of the BF cabs, and getting older by the day, the appeal of something less than half the weight of the Mesa is very tempting.
Ahhh - I understood (wrongly) from your OP that you had two reasons for wanting to change your Mesa: to get a 4ohm cab AND because you were struggling to lift it one-handed. Anyway, I can tell you that I definitely prefer lifting 7kg instead of 15kg nowadays . Just to add also that, based on my experience, I agree that the high efficiency of speakers like the BF 12" and 10" drivers makes the 8ohm versus 4ohm debate much less of an issue with a 300w amp.
-
My 'small 4ohm cab' is 2 of the exceedingly small BF 8ohm One10s - more versatile IMHO than their 4ohm Two10. As it happens, I'm thinking about selling my SC Gen 3 and adding a third 10-incher.

The Impossibility Of Chuck Berry Licks
