1.
Scrumpy Mike is - or was - selling a pretty good TE set-up on here, tale a look, decently priced.
Thanks for the plug Lozz. Yep, still up - with a price reduction even! Never played an SMX head but my SMC300 GP7 sounds damn good. Also, the 1 x 15 cab it comes with is what TE described at the time as their new 'compact' design; it isn't by today's standards but its size and weight make it a manageable one-man lift compared to the other cabs around then.
 2.
No more struggling with big, heavy speakers and a great sound, no brainer!
Got it in one!
 3.
Got a couple of questions: What is the difference between a Jake and a Jake L? Is it correct to assume a 34" scale unless otherwise stated? Thanks.
Lightness achieved by a chambered body. Not sure whether other weight-saving measures are part of the standard L spec; my Elwood L also has lightweight tuners and alu bridge but I spec'd those. Re standard scale length of a Jake L, I believe it's 34" but check on the Public Peace website, where the description of each model clearly states what's available scale-wise.
 4.
Didn't you try one yourself at the Bash, or are you looking a buying one?
Yes I did, but it wasn't set up right for me and I didn't spend much time on it.
 5. Looking for some feedback from anybody who's played a Gillett electro-acoustic bass. What do you think of the playability, sounds and looks, and what sort of stuff are you using it for? If you bought one, what made you do it - or if you didn't, what stopped you? Thanks, Mike
 6.
Well surgery done, in and out in half an hour, here was me expecting to have a great big pressure bandage, and he shoves a plaster on it!!! He seems to think that a gig in 17 days should be ok and to start playing a little bit in a day or two!
You've got off more lightly than I did - especially on my second one. Sounds like a key-hole job but didn't think they could do carpals that way.
 7.
I'll definitely be there. Last year was really good - a great bunch of people and a really enjoyable day. All the best
Hope you'll be bringing whatever work is in progress.
 8. Thanks for the positive feedback, honestly can't wait myself! Strangely, even the helpers who have nothing to do with bass loved it - the shared feeling seemed to be "what a nice crowd of guys" (and maybe the food had something to do with it too).
 9.
Crazy prices for top notch kit. Call the cops, it's a steal
You're dead right there!
 10. Just starting the ball rolling well in advance by confirming that the date for next year's bash will be: Sunday 8th of April The venue will be the same, namely: The Memorial Hall, Cheddon Fitzpaine, Taunton TA2 8JY The Scrumpy family and helpers are very much looking forward to seeing everybody again, plus some new faces. In the meantime, watch this space for additional info - especially after we've all got the Christmas and New Year stuff out of the way.
 11. OK, time for this to go now - £160 for the amp, £50 for the cab. These prices are collected but willing to ship the amp at buyer's expense.
 12. PM sent
 13. I'd like to see one of those sat on top of my BF cabs - British Barefaced Doom!!
 14. My rehearsal / small gig amp is an Eden WTX264 - does exactly what you're asking for: nice core tone with everything set at 12 o'clock, quality feel (click-stepped alu control knobs), bass boost that works really well in unplugged-type situations, DI - and cheap as chips (mine was £199 new). If not loud enough for you, there's a 500W version that looks the same.
 15.
Soooo tempted to credit card this bad boy.
How nice is that!?
 16. Me too, but with a different amp (Genzler Magellan 800). Love 'em!
 17.
Here's our current set list I either sing lead or backing on - its a bit out of date but we normally do 70 or so a night
That's an impressive list! Includes a lot of stuff I've done in previous bands - and I wish we were doing in the current covers band.
 18. Thanks for remembering Paul and getting my day off to a good start . If you want a great, rock-solid, driving rhythm section, that was it.

 20. Speaking of money transfer, I recently got my annual credit card paper statement and was puzzled by over £100-worth of fees for cash advances in the last 12 months. I've queried this with my card company and they tell me the charges all relate to 4 forex payments made through Transferwise for the 2 basses I bought from Adrian. When I explained that these were Euro purchases I was told that they had been presented by Transferwise as cash advances. I haven't taken this up with Transferwise yet but am posting now to flag it up to anyone who may be about to do the same. Also, I'd be interested to hear the experiences of anybody else who has already done it. Point is that Transferwise promote their service as being far cheaper than the high-street banks - but it certainly hasn't been for me! (That'll teach me to pay more attention to my monthly online c-c statements )
 21.
I really really wish I hadn't looked that up and seen how much you snagged it for.
I bought 2 new so I definitely don't want to know.
 22.
When my Superfly amp developed this problem (mine manifested as an inability to switch on in the first place) alongside the high pitched whining problem, Ashdown simply did not want to know. They fobbed me off with several excuses before stopping answering my emails altogether.
Strange - that certainly seems to go against the experiences of most on this forum, mine included.
 23.
Personally I don't want to think about having to use different set-ups for different bands.
That wasn't really my main aim either. I wanted back-up kit that also extended the range of available sounds. These combinations represent the opposite ends of the tonal range, which just happens to suit the two different bands.
 24. That is just breathtaking . Good call rounding the headstock.
 25. Ahhh, that brings back memories!! I gigged one for years and loved it - as did every other band-member and punter who saw it lit up on stage like a Blackpool Illuminations tram. The individual pots controlling each speaker output on the back were a nice touch. This one looks to be in good condition.
