Sorry giamma, missed the "full range" requirement. I agree with bassace that the Super Midget should be better for you. I recently sold my first generation Midget T as I didn't really need the top end.

Your requirement is exactly the same as mine. After a lot of trial and error, I've ended up with a Genzler Magellan 800 and 3 Barefaced cab's (a Super Compact Gen 3 and a couple of One10s). The amp: compact class D with a nice, neutral core sound; 2 switchable channels (clean and driven that can be set at different volume levels); 2 shaping options (modern & vintage) controlled by a contour pot; delivers full power at 4ohms or 2.7ohms for 2 or 3 x 8ohm cabs; and is much more reasonably priced than the other American alternatives. The cab's: compact/light-weight; highly efficient; 10" drivers have a slightly warmer 'classic' sound than the 12". I've added a mini board with 2 foot-switches (one switches between the 2 basses I use and the other changes channels on the amp), a tuner and a volume pedal. It's taken me over 50 years to get here but I'm really chuffed with this set-up!

Sorry no DB experience but my electro-acoustic sounds lovely through my One10. These cabs really are excellent and I'm just waiting for my second one to arrive so I'll have a mini-stack. In fact, I'll probably add a 3rd one as I now have an amp that switches down to 2.7ohms.

Hey UKLooney, that looks really neat - what exactly is it?
What's the small TC electronics stuff like, sound quality wise? The TonePrint function looks like a lot of fun .. but they're surprisingly cheap for a compact class D, even without with that extra functionality. I'm guessing there is a drawback somewhere - or are they just great value?
Had a BH550 which I liked a lot - the 2 Toneprints it came pre-loaded with (Spectracomp and octaver) were nice and on-board tuner handy. Recently sold it for £250 (mint) to part-fund a Magellan 800 and wish I could have kept it.
Congratulations, looks fantastic. I have a Super Compact and it's absolutely superb. I'd love to hear a pair of them in action, must be outrageous!
+1 exactly!

Are you looking for something in the same performance/price bracket as the Streamliner or something to get you out of trouble if the Streamliner failed? TC Electronic stuff is good - their RH450 would probably fit the first category and their BH550 (which I had for a while and liked) the second.
they look like they make some nice bass's like this one but would prefer the squared head not the P bass type. great value, do they play well. The ones I tried certainly played well.
Could you post the major dimensions of the neck, so that any future searches will find this information? The thickness of the neck at the 1st & 12th and maybe the width of the neck at those positions.
And the vital statistics are: At fret zero - 39(W) x 21(D)mm; at F12 - 52(W) x 22(D)mm

So...why haven't you got a Trace Elliot then..
Ooh, a Magellan! I like the look of them. Mr Genzler really knows how to put an amp together.
It's blindingly good IMHO. That AND a Trace Elliot - how lucky can one man be?! -

The good thing is that I should have my 2nd BF One10 in a few days so I'll be able to hear how the TE head as well as my 'new' Magellan sound thru the 'vintage-coloured' compact stack. Can't wait! -
Well, today's reason is an Ashdown MK500 which arrives in the morning
That sounds fair enough! -
Long story short. I use to own one of these beasties until it got in a bad way and I foolishly sold it on. How I regret that now. Because of all my years on that bass, my muscle memory developed to that style of neck. As you know most of the modern bass favour the very thin 'C' profiled necks which aren't as comfortable for those of us pinching the neck with larger hands. So here's my request. Could you post the major dimensions of the neck, so that any future searches will find this information? The thickness of the neck at the 1st & 12th and maybe the width of the neck at those positions. This information might help anyone moving from the smaller neck, or seeking the thicker profiled neck. Thanks - oh and consider this bumped.
Will do.

FS/FT Gibson USA SG Standard Bass - Short Scale / Nitro
scrumpymike replied to Kev's topic in Basses For Sale
Sorry Kev - I've unintentionally blundered into hijacking your thread. Actually (now I've read your topic title properly!) mine was different: it was an 'SG Re-issue' (2008). I'm not sure what the differences were but if the Gibson craftsmen (?!) hadn't changed in the intervening 12 months, then I'm sure yours is at least as good as mine was GLWTS -
That ain't no anapest - it's just a bit of fun!

I've got 3 BF cabs (2 x One10s and a SC) that I've been using and liking with my TE AH300 SMC GP7. I also had a TC Electronic BH550 head as a backup for a while but that sounded just a little bit thin. The Genzler Magellan 800 I've just bought sounds very nice at home - I'll report back when I've done a few full rehearsals/gigs.

After nearly 40 years of continuous TE ownership, my efforts to no longer have one seem doomed to failure as my TE stack is still languishing on the FS forum. Seems like there's no escape -
Happy Jack's a Basschatter-cum-poet (as we all may be but just don't know it) Any more want to try - make us laugh, make us cry? You can stick with the bass if you blow it. (I'll get me coat.)
