The Magellan 800 I've just bought off this forum has 2 separate channels - clean and driven - that are selectable either via a push-button on the front panel or by plugging a footswitch in to a jack socket on the back. The manual says to use "any single-button footswitch" - but my local guitar shop asked whether I needed latched or unlatched. Beats me - anybody know?

[/quote] I can understand why Alex would want to expand out of the very limited market of bass cabs. Guitar cabs, yes - but getting into amps could be a step too far. May look like an obvious expansion route for his business but development costs will be substantial and it's hard to see how he could bring as much to the amplifier party as he has done with the cabs.

I was just listening absent-mindedly to the radio while working on my pc and they happened to play Slowhand by The Pointer Sisters. I liked when it came out, I still like it, and I must have heard it a thousand times. What really hit me this time was how simple but perfectly formed the bass-line is. It lays down a rock-solid foundation without getting in the way or spoiling the laid-back mood, lets the song breathe, and - as a bass-player - I found myself savouring the rich tone and perfect placement of every note played. By the end, I was convinced that adding anything would just spoil it - and removing anything would do the same. As long as she can cope with the 28.6" scale (slightly shorter than standard short scale), +1 for the Ibanez Mikro. They are excellent quality, look/sound like a proper bass guitar but are extremely compact and light. I used one as a 'travel bass' for a while and sold it to a 'Dad' in a similar situation to your own. He was delighted with it when he collected it and (he told me later) so was his son when he got it for his Birthday present.

A bit strange not having anywhere to try them in the country where they're built - especially when the Polish economy is (or certainly was last time I looked) growing faster than anywhere else in Europe. Maybe they all get shipped to Adrian in Germany for their final quality check/set-up.

[/quote] The factory is in Poland but Adrian M himself and his trading company Public Peace are based in Aldenhoven, Germany (that's why the factory address doesn't figure on anybody's radar). My understanding is that he was planning to either move his demo facility to the factory or build another, main demo suite there this year. Just got a Magellan 800 from Graeme. Arrived mint and boxed - how good is that?! Everything went as smoothly as you could possibly wish for, so no hesitation in echoing the other positive comments about this top Basschat-ter. Oh, and I absolutely love the amp btw. Mike

Hey Scott! That doesn't look like a short-scale to me

The MK link is a bit tenuous! This bass was never owned or played by him but the owner allegedly knew JD and MK personally - which does make it expensive IMHO.
