1.
That's lovely...
Certainly is - GLWTS
2.
Images not working for me either.
Thanks - I'm on it!
3.
Imagebb doesn't seem to be your friend either as I can't see any photos, just error messages. Try postimage.io
Thanks for the feedback - the images are all showing when I open the topic! Time for further investigation.
4. Bump with edited/additional pics (nasty Botophucket images replaced )
5. Bump for one of Fender's finest!
6. Well done Dudgeman
7.
They know there were problems with certain models - same happened with me - sent me a new one and I kept the original one, swapped the sticky part for a nut and bolt - hey presto, worked fine - in effect had a free stand. Good to see some companies care about customer service.
+1 - if they are happy to spare no expense when fixing quality issues you have to assume that they don't have many. I was happy to buy 2 more of their stands afterwards.
8.
I normally don't bother the odd spelling error but it's really starting to piss me off, it's the Jean Genie, not Gene Genie or G G, if you can't spell it right it's not a good start, and if G A G doesn't sound right it's probably because you've got so used to playing it wrong, or, your guitarist isn't playing it right, ok rant over
Quite right to rant about the spelling! I'm normally not that sloppy - must have inherited a late-onset rogue spelling gene
9.
Its been another good thread. Dave
Certainly has. So interesting to get the definitive answer from Trevor Bolder to the OP's Gene-Genie question and to hear the ZS & TSFM story from the band's perspective - and . The phrase 'unsung heroes' springs to mind.
10. Thanks dmccombe7 for posting The Spiders From Mars Interviews - just finished watching and loved it! Brought back some happy memories of playing Bowie stuff - including The G-G - dep'ing behind a really good Bowie tribute artist at a one-off charity gig years ago.
11. They've done the same for me and a few other Basschat members. Top marks!
12. You (I) can clearly hear the difference between the Bolder and Dorsey versions in the posted videos. At a live gig the difference will probably be less clear. Surely the most important factor is the 'feel' of it. The Bolder version is, well, 'bolder': a bit less 'poppy', a bit more edgy with ominous undertones . Cripes - I've turned into a wine taster!
13. That's a lot of bang for not many Bucks - good value per kilo too!
14.
I enjoyed that but unfortunately I find myself strangely drawn to the Ric.....think I`d better go lie down somewhere dark
+1
15. Around £2250 I believe but the craftsmanship, sounds, playability and finish are exquisite.
16. That's neat! Great basses, great bassist
17. PS The intonation on the one I played was spot on (cos I checked it!!).
18. Not sure what your budget is but these are totally unique and offer UB-type sounds in a compact package (31.5" scale IIRC)! Michael G was one of the sponsors of our South-West Bass Bash in May and there was a huge amount of interest in his stuff. Personally I'd go for the slim-bodied version. 19. CURRENTLY ON SALE SALE AT GEAR4MUSIC FOR £379 DELIVERED!!
20.
Cool looking bass. Blue
Sounded great too. Only downer was they weighed a ton - each! My shoulder's paying the price for that now.
21.
Did you a piece for Bassist magazine about them some time in the late 90s, maybe early 2000s? They had a regular item where readers wrote about their basses, and I'm sure I remember one from a chap who had a pair of these.
Certainly did! Spent a very pleasant day at the mag's offices with editor Gibson (honest!) Keddie and his Dep Roger Newell including lunch while the basses were in the studio being photographed after testing. That was a great mag while it lasted.
22. Wonder what this is worth now... sold it and another identical one around 12 years back after gigging them exclusively for a few years. They were a delight - only 550 LP Triumph basses ever made apparently. Can't help thinking they've squandered their valuable heritage!
23. I'm using a WTX264 paired with a BF One10 at home/'unplugged' gigs/small venues/as DI monitor and am well pleased. Just be aware that, when I got mine, the little Eden was selling new for only £199 delivered.
24. It's nice to get what you want - so I'm pleased for you! Just out of interest, what was the M-chick that didn't hit the spot and why? (You can pm me on that one if you prefer.)
