1. BASH BULLETIN! Adrian has promised a box of Maruszczyk/Public Peace goodies and merchandise - he's threatening to come over with his mate Wojtek Pilichowski to give a demo at next year's bash!! (Did I really say "next year's bash"? It was Adrian's idea, honest!) Also thanks to all who have paid in advance - that's our costs covered
 2.
Any recommendations? lol
I've only ever used 2 luthiers: the first gave me the action you are looking for; then we moved 300 miles and the second one didn't but charged me more!! (Don't use him any more, and he's dead anyway - none of my doing honest )
 3.
Sadly, there is no easy trick to be able to play like your bass heroes....other than practice and practice some more. I'm sure the likes of Mark King could play really well on a crap bass with a poor setup. That's not to say setup is not important...it is. But you may be overlooking the fact that you're already there setup wise...this observation is based on your other threads where you say your luthier has already setup and addressed the frets on your bass. By all means take it to another luthier, but don't expect miracles. I'd also add, there really isn't any way to accurately judge action by watching a video like that, a half MM is a big deal in setup, but certainly not visible in a video like that. There's also rarely a point in the video where he's not fretting/muting/popping a note, which also makes it difficult to properly judge. Again I'm not saying his action isn't low, I'm sure it is. But it's not going to be outside the boundaries of what any good tech/luthier can achieve.
Wise words!
 4. Maybe the
Interesting quote at the end of that article: Plus, I suppose, with Gibson allegedly close to $600m in debt, every litigious dollar they can claw back will help them.
Maybe spending too many litigious dollars is what's put them into the red - certainly won't have helped. When it comes to legal action, they have left no stone unturned - witness the fact that a member of this forum was forced into an expensive re-design.

£££ HELP!! I've written a cheque for £80 this morning for the hall and Mrs Scrumpy has been spending cash filling our freezer (and part of next door's!!) with home-made goodies for the big day. If you you know you'll be coming and don't mind paying up-front, please pm me. Anyone who pays but can't make it on the day gets a full refund. STOP PRESS - Stephen Chown's contacts at Bass Guitar are giving him some freebie mag's to bring along!
 7. Scott's hard cases were brilliant - I got two (slightly different) that are perfect fits for my SWB-1 and Mensinger Cazpar. I was on to him recently for another one but he doesn't do them any more. Didn't ask about bags though.
 8. Thanks Stephen - I'd say XL please. You've just beaten me to it as I was about to send a 'begging e-mail' to you, David K and Mike G this weekend
 9.
I assume there's ample parking around the hall?
Yes, loads of parking.
Do you just want new stuff for the raffle or is 2nd hand gear acceptable? I've got a couple of FX thingies that I'm not using, for example It looks like a decent sized car park on the satellite images and website.
Used stuff totally acceptable.
 10.
For the Raffle, I have persuaded MSL to put up a Bass Keeper, a Mark Stand, and an ULTRA rare Markbass wristband. The wrist bands are quite special, as they have fairly magical abilities. They can do this:-
That's great, well done! Re wrist bands, one on each arm for me please
 11.
This, this, so very very this!
I was a singer first so I'm a singer who learned to play bass. Despite being the/a lead singer in all my bands since the '60s, I still occasionally find something that trips me up. The most recent was Losing My Religion. Even though the bass part is a doddle, the killer was overlaying Michael Stipe's 'conversational' phrasing. Took me hours practicing alone at home to get it fit for gigs.
 12. You'd certainly need to start with a bass that's been designed to suit your style and built to perfection. Then, if your set-up skills are anything like mine, you'd need to hire the best bass-guitar tech you could find. Oh, and you seemingly string it with rubber bands
 13. Got some bash T-shirts for anyone who's interested: Price/size details to follow.
 14.
Yep, I have a copy of my mock up on the phone, tablet and PC. I also keep watching the video that inspired my pick up choice.
Vintage white body with tort scratch-plate, chrome hardware and rosewood fretboard - snap!!
 15. It's a strange condition this Precionitis. I recently caught the 'late onset' version after 50 trouble-free playing years. Suddenly I just HAD TO KNOW what all the fuss is about. Bought a cheap but lovely Vintage White Squier VM wearing flats from basschatter the brig - and it just put a smile on my face the first time I plugged it in to my rig - and every time after that. It became known as 'The Boss' in the Scrumpy household until, having scratched the itch, I decided to let it go to a young guitarist in one of my bands who's seriously interested in crossing over to the deep and mellow side. Being a student, he's permanently skint so I passed it on for the bargain price I paid together with a nice TE stack on sale or return (so far no sale and no return either!). To say he's besotted with it - and frighteningly good on it - would be an understatement. After all these years I totally get it now. If I could handle a P properly I'd probably play nothing else.
 16.
Can I suggest having a bunch of sticky labels and a Sharpie available so that people can make nametags for themselves if they want? We did this at the last national bash I went to and it was good to be able to put a face to a forum handle. I can source suitable items from my office stationery cupboard (I'm only borrowing them boss, honest) if required.
I was planning to make name badges (already have the labels and permie pens) - but your DIY idea is much better
 17.
I've seen my name on the list, but unfortunately (bash-wise) I have a gig the night before in Norfolk, which will see me greeting the milkman when I get home. Have a great one chaps!
Thanks for telling us, now de-listed - enjoy the gig!
 18.
Next thing you'll be staring longingly at leather sofas...
If Adrian started doing replica leather sofas I bet he'd sell a few. Btw, did you spot that he photographed my bass IN FRONT of the sofa (rather than beside it) to get the contrast of white bass against chestnut-brown leather? No job too small for that guy
 19. "to me they're nicer as they have perfect balance (i played many when at adrian's house) ...." I'm jealous - and I bet I'm not the only one!
 20. OK, so I'm pleased to report that Mike Gillett will be 'bashing' with us - I think his electro-acoustic basses look amazing and I can't wait to try one/all of them! http://www.gillettguitars.co.uk/
