1.
Just goes to show that its the melody makes all the difference between a timeless classic and forgettable bed wetters.
Yeah I know, I've never even heard of Leo Sayer.
2. There is no such thing as bad music, just opinion.

NJE, on 20 May 2016 - 02:57 PM, said: I have an issue with my Hiscox case. If I bump the case I can hear the strings of the bass vibrate which to me makes me think that any impact on the case is actually being transferred to my bass which I don't like. So I have given up on Hiscox until I need something heavy duty.
Hiscox cases are for Fenders with the four in a row headstock. 2+2 gives you a good couple of inches for the bass to bounce around. Alright for me because I play Jazz basses...
4. Anyone tried one of these?
5.
no it doesn't have an XLR out, but I never need one when gigging, that's why I thought it might be good for recording, If I want a different tone for a particular track I just program another patch on the B1on, saves having 2 pedals
You play just using your amp with nothing going through FOH?
6.
I think JE is the Daddy of bass tone with TC as a small boy looking out a window in a town a long way away.
Oh dear. Well done Mr. Claber anyhow - serious player on your hands.
7. Gotoh 201.
8. Just get a Hiscox! Why spend hundreds on basses to then put them in a case which a paper cup could damage...
9. Last 30 seconds - Clash / This Is England.
10. A Sansamp BDDI that sounds better for 15% the price?
11. No matter what gauge flats you try, they will feel more 'tense'. Tension is the wrong word for this topic - flexibility is more accurate. Because the way a flatwound is contstructed, bends are harder to do. Hence, people perceive this has more tension. Rounds and flats are very close tension wise (in similar gauges). Flats are harder to bend than rounds. Other than that, smoother, less finger noise and all the other great qualities of flats to boot.
12. Next week: Daryl Jones & Keef.
13. Why is a band doomed to fail then if just starting out. They're not looking to be Rolling Stones big but fair play for trying. Better than kicking them down.
14. Seriously?!
15. I was 18 when I passed my test. My car and everything with it - funded by myself. My bass and other gear - funded by myself. If you don't have contacts on the scene then online ads are the next best thing. Just because you're young doesn't mean you can't play bass/have no drive/won't get anywhere etc. I did 'have a blast' through those years and made a lot of friends, played some great gigs and wrote some cool music. Sounds to me like a bunch of middle age farts who never did anything themselves when they were younger. Watch it - you've turned into your Dad.
16. Quixoticelixer, Mercy Mercy and The Bicycle Song are three of my favourite B sides. Great songs that were forgotten about.
17. As with anything, you can get good and bad one's no matter what the year is.
18. Ask them to mark it as a gift. No import charges.
19. DPD and DHL everytime. Stopped using Interparcel years & years ago because they were hopeless... feel for you Clarky.
20. Has anyone tried these? From what I've read online, higher tension DR Sunbeams is what I'm getting. Can anyone confirm this?
21. I have a new sealed set of old Fender 7250s in the sky blue packaging? Might be worth a fiver...
22.
Here is a live version from 22/5 which was uploaded a few hours ago.... https://youtu.be/HwbB2uljQ5k Flea's bass looks very Fender shaped. Pretty sure I saw Fender on the headstock. What gives?
I believe that was a '61 or '62 stack knob Jazz given to Flea by John Entwistle before he passed away (1 of only 3 in that colour ever made). Flea used that Jazz on Stadium Arcadium for I think every song bar a couple. He then used it live for the SA tour but went back to his Modulus a few weeks in because he felt that bass cut through better live.
