1. I buy them from an eBay US string store. Don't mind waiting 6 days to save £20...
2.
That sounds good for DRs . Im keen to try them. Do you not get hit for duty or tax?
Nope because they're sensible and mark them as a gift. Lo Riders can be had for £19 inc. postage.
3.
It's good to know that you're the arbiter of relevance. I don't know where I'd be without you.
Would you like to stroke my orange eared elephant?
4.
Connection with his Dad might get him exposure, but the record sales will determine what he's really worth
So One Direction are right up there with the Beatles then? *sigh*
5. Clipping the amp much more regularly is the result. Thus, damaged equipment. Anyone who disagrees hasn't used a Spector before.
6. Why would someone buy a 16x10? You don't need that many speakers for a pub. A 2x12 is perfectly suitable. Just the usual Barefaced nonsense.
7. Anyone complaining about the Mono slipping, attach an elastic band before the buckle so it can't move anywhere.
8. GHS Precision Flats are worth a shot.
9. That sound is a SD quarter pounder straight into a mic'd SVT stack, cranked. VT21 will get you close.
10. Another +1 for the M80. The OD is best when a small amount is blended in with the clean sound.
11. Nothing to do with tone but I find high mass bridges do sustain a touch more and they're easier to get intonation sorted.
12. http://basschat.co.uk/topic/274207-metal-to-the-masses-m2tm/page__fromsearch__1 What did I say?! Waste of time.
13.
When I saw The 'Oo at the NIA a couple of years ago, Roger Daltrey did the band introduction bit. Perhaps you should put them right.
The Who were relevant 50 years ago. Not today.
14.
I don't agree. It's all part of breaking down the us and them divide. IMO it's very important to get the audience to be your friends.
Maybe if you're a covers band but definitely not originals. I thrive off that it's us and them attitude.
15. No because it's cheesy, outdated and best left in the 70s.
16. But it's an England game!
17. Well Paloma Faith was an interesting choice for a judge this year but she comes across really well... wrong voice?
18. Hiscox's sell between £60-70 secondhand anyway!
19.
So what are you doing now? Stories like yours make me grateful that I have always put a lot of thought into what bands I would join. Out of 50 years I can only recall one bad band decision. However, I did learn from the experience and it never happened again. The band leader lived in this huge mansion. That should have been my first clue not to join. Blue
Say hello to my little friend!
20. Put your own ad up and state your age. Most originals bands on JMB are under 30 and quite a few are after 'the deal'. Of course they're gonna stop talking once you mention the elephant in the room. Let bands come to you.
21. How can you compare nickles and steels? Apples and oranges. These are good strings but I wouldn't say they're twice as good over standard XLs... so not worth twice the price. I order all my strings from the US now and never get stung for customs. £25 a set anyone? http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/DADDARIO-NYXL45105-NICKEL-PLATED-STEEL-BASS-STRINGS-LIGHT-MED-GAUGE-4s-45-105-/121924793543?hash=item1c6348b4c7:g:Af0AAOSwoudW5zZ0
22.
Does this mean I'm not allowed to smile if I'm enjoying myself?
I'm not your Dad, mate.
23. The only time you should smile is any on stage banter. Other than that, tell people to stop telling you what to do.
