    Anything is worth as much as you're willing to pay for it. I, however, don't think they are worth it. I prefer passive basses anyway.

    Why not just buy a secondhand Hiscox for £60? Mine is in great nick and I never worry about my bass being damaged. Sorry, I just don't understand this thing about hardcases being bulky and taking up loads of room. Also, who leaves their bags and bits on stage? Trip hazard much?!
