1. Why do you assume I'm a young 'un? Maybe I just don't act like every other old git out there?!
2. I think your strings would affect the tone more than the wood on the board.
3. As usual, oldies moaning about festival prices and line ups, it was better back in the day, I remember this and that etc. Too commercial etc. Isn't this the usual clap trap you guys come out with? At least get something a bit more original.
4.
"That sure is a weird Fender you're playing" "That's because it's a Status!!!" Status S2 Headless!!!
Hahahahahaha!
5. Like a vintage Fender - overpriced and overhyped.
6. Now I know why my band mates were laughing when they 'found' my guitar case...
7.
I don't really understand the preamp thing either, I'm happy with my sound but I wanted a decent DI signal and a bit more EQ control (OBT owner!) so I went for the DHA DI EQ, which does both those things well. No idea if it could be considered a preamp, but it does what I want.
Very much a preamp.
8.
I had a guy come up to me after a gig a few weeks ago to say I had the best bass sound he'd ever heard. I was quietly glowing inside. Chatted for a few minutes then he said it was the first gig he'd ever been to....... Doh!
Classic
9.
When I played in a Classic Rock band , people seemed like shouting "freeeeeebird"
That and stairwayyyy are a given at any gig aren't they?!
10. Arnie: "They'll be back."
11. TBH a Kanye show is better than most rock bands headlining a festival. How many people have seen a Kanye live set? Typical BC - no previous experience but will judge anyway.
12. Try Drenge as well.
13. Simple solution then - don't put things on hold.
14. They have been jamming that riff for (at least) 12 years. Do like the song though.
15. Is that Jaco?
16. If they stick as they are for the second album then they will have very limited success in the future; it could break them. What they should do is what took the Black Keys 8 or 9 albums to work out - you'll never be a festival headline band unless you have a backing band. If they keep the bass and drum duo as the main attraction but work it round a full backing band then I could easily see them playing arenas in the next 3-5 years.
17. Anyone down Koko the other night?
18. Saw them last April (or May) in some tiny venue in Leceister before they blew up. Great gig and tickets were only £7.
19. Dear oh dear. Well at least you replied...
20. What gets me is when people say the music of the 60s and 70s was the best, period. That's regardless of age.
21.
Found the band that I'm currently in via JMB and the way things are looking probably the next one as well
But are you any good?
22. JMB is a waste of time. I've been through every singer and or guitarist in my area and found one good 'un. That's it. One of my bands actually folded a few months ago because we couldn't find anyone decent to front the band. The idiots we got at auditions...
23.
I think most rap these days, at least the stuff you'll hear about in the media, is very much in the same ilk as Simon Cowell et al, manufactured pop for the masses designed solely to make money, not music. These artists all have talent, and there's a place for it too, even one direction (just not out of my speakers).
If you're not open to newer styles of hip-hop then you'll never like it. All those artists you mentioned were signed to a label because they were believed to be able to make money for them, something which will never change. Plenty of talented guys out there; Kendrick Lamar, ASAP Rocky, Drake, Wiz Khalifa.
24.
The music listened to by the hipsters covers a broad spectrum, from twee mandolin-based neo-folk, through more traditional guitar-based indie bands, to electronic and rap music, and finally to the more extreme end of things with post-hardcore and mathcore.
I'd say this hipster type of sub-culture has been around two years. Ever since Spotify became mainstream, hence the wide music variety.
