  1. The VK website gives the same power handling - https://vanderkleyamp.com/cabinets/ so far I’ve only used it for rehearsals in a small hall so not pushed it at all and my amp usually set to 4 out of 10 tops out at 250w. Thinking about it further it also has more treble response than the 115. I wanted the VK for more punch as the 115 seemed to not be cutting through the horrible acoustics of a hard floored low ceiling hall and I was struggling to hear myself. In reality I think it was a combination of the cab, amp settings and the tone from one of the guitarists. The VK sounds great though - very detailed and more responsive to eq. The 115 itself had really good clarity and brightness compared to the Marshall 115 I had before it (and so much lighter - easy one hand carry) I won’t be too disappointed if mine doesn’t sell! I was very happy with it for years in rehearsal rooms with better acoustics and when gigging.
  2. I’ve been using one as my main cab for about 5 years until this summer when I bought a vanderkley LNT210. The vk210 has a bit more bass and is more punchy. The rumble 115 was a bit more mid biased to my ears. The rumble 115 is really easy to handle at 17kg. My 20kg 210 seems to take a lot more effort. Had my 115 up for sale on here for a while now.
  3. What’s the idea with the scalloped finger board?
  4. Yep, same here. Ibanez SR really suits me. I have a fretless Jazz and it feels really big compared to the Ibanez
  5. Yep, having issues communicating with Musik Produktiv about returning my RM800. Thanks for reminding me. I’ll get back on to them today.
  6. My 80 ohms ones have plenty of power driven by my iPad, fender rumble head or line 6 bass pod (floor one). They have a little less output driven by my iPhone but probably exceeding the ‘safe’ limit.
  7. At least it’s not just another boring carbon copy of a p or j😂🧨
  8. I like It!
  9. Have you thought about practicing with headphones? I never practice out loud at home - always with headphones. If you get a suitable amp(combo or head) you can play along to stereo tracks in your headphones and adjust the mix between the bass and backing track. I use a fender rumble 150 head for that. It has a stereo aux in that I plug into my iPad. I also have a line 6 bass pod which I use for the same purpose as well as effects.
  10. Tried my Hartke HA3500 at rehearsal this week. It had loads of power to spare with the Vanderkley cab (master was just around 2 out of ten). Eq seemed to be working ok and could dial in a good nominal tone to tweak to song settings on the bass pre. I think my gas has run out. Would be nice to have something lighter and newer without a dodgy diy repair but I’m sticking with it for now.
  11. As a potential builder it would be fantastic to have concise info on the cab designs and components. I’ve tried to follow what’s going on but keep getting lost/confused/distracted. I have the memory of a goldfish!
  12. Thanks for the suggestions folks👍, I’ll look into those. Another thought is that it would preferable for the drive to be switchable without affecting the output volume. Maybe that’s asking too much?
  13. Another vote for Beyerdynamic DT770s here. Just replaced the cushions on mine too👍. All my home practice is through these and usually playing along to tunes on my iPad. Used to use them for recording. i think mine are the 32ohm version - https://www.thomann.de/gb/beyerdynamic_dt_770_pro_32_ohm.htm good length cable. You often see these being used by pros on the telly. edit - I’ve got the 80ohm ones!
  14. Hi, I’ve been looking for a mid priced amp around 500 - 800 watts with ALL of the following - Simple EQ (3 or 4 band no graphic) decent onboard compressor decent onboard overdrive STEREO Aux in (and monitoring) headphone out (stereo for aux in) No baked in tone No amp/cab modelling or other onboard effects So far I’ve found- Reidmar 750 (asssuming aux in is stereo) Portaflex 500 (not sure about baked in tone) id be grateful for any recommendations or comments on the above. I’m in the process of returning an RM800 to Musik Produktiv so won’t be considering another RM. cheers
  15. Just discovered/remembered I still have a decent box so if anyone wants to arrange courier collection then that’s fine.
  16. Thanks chaps - it’s an awesome bass but just not getting played anymore! Here’s a link to the original mod thread. There are some sound samples in it too (excuse the tasteless slap)🙄
  17. Heavily modified Ray34. I bought this bass new and as standard from Direct Music in Exeter in November 2018. I’ve since fitted a full pocket neck shim and replaced the pickup and pre amp with a Delano hybrid system and sonar 2 pre amp. Info on this system is here https://www.delano.de/hybrid_4/hybrid_4_details.html. its an excellent system with really good tone options including the obvious Ray and Jazz tones as well as combined Ray bridge and active Jazz neck tones. The pickups and preamp came from bass direct and cost in excess of £300. The routing for the extra pickup was carried out by me and I’m confident that it has been carried out to a high standard although more similar to Squier Jazz neck pocket routing as the rout is rectangular rather than pickup shaped. Somewhere on here there is a thread of when I was doing it. If I can find it I’ll add a link. the cavity has been shielded with foil tape. All original parts to return the bass to standard are also included although one of the pots has been removed from the original pre amp and is in use with the new set up. An spare treble pot for the hybrid system is included too as it’s a Delano special active treble and passive tone. I’ll also include a new stingray pickguard in black that needs the jazz pickup hole cutting out (easy job). The pick guard in the photo is the original to suit the Ray34 pickup rather than the standard stingray shape which the hybrid is modelled on. difficult to know where to price this but I think the asking price is fair. Any questions please ask. Collection only from mid Cornwall or I’m happy to drive up to Exeter if that helps.
  18. Fender rumble 115 cab in overall great condition but some minor peeling/shrinkage of the Tolex on the back. Approx 6 years old. Perfect working order. Great sounding 115. Original casters are missing as Ive never used them now included as I’ve found them in their box. The cab weighs around 18kg and is a one hand carry. Collection from mid Cornwall for £125 or £150 posted to UK mainland. now only £135 posted to mainland uk!
  19. Yeah you could be right there although you’d expect b stock stuff to still be fit for purpose. It’s usually marks and things that’s make stuff b stock isn’t it?
  20. Yep, I took that photo just after swapping the heads over on Thursday night. The only change from playing was the master volume turned down before powering off as it makes quite a loud pop noise when turned off which I’ve not been too happy about😕. The photo in my living room was just an oooh this looks nice one 🤣
  21. Hi BassAdder, input gain was set so the VU enters the red zone when played hard. I was also using some compression before the amp to even things out. I checked the input gain before swapping heads. Judging by the photo I took it seems I had it set pretty much the same as you👍
  22. Finally got to try this out with the band last night. What an interesting journey this is turning out to be. I was initially really underwhelmed with the tone and volume out of this set up. I’ve used the amp previously with my 115 cab and hadn’t had volume issues. I’m not sure whether we were louder last night or if the Vanderkley needs driving a bit harder than my 115 but the RM800 just didn’t have the guts! Fortunately I had my old 150 watt rumble head with me. I’m guessing that’s about 90-100 watts into 8 ohms. It had more power than the RM800. I used all the same cables etc so only the amp changed. I also noticed that the volume on the RM800 topped out with the knob at 9 o’clock. Further increases made little to no difference. I seem to recall reading a thread about someone else having this issue with an RM combo. Anyway bottom line is the head appears to be faulty so I’ll be getting in touch with Musik Produktiv. Hopefully they can refund it. Hard to judge the cab as the rumble head was almost maxed out and was breaking up a little but it’s definitely got more punch than the 115.
