There's nothing too technically challenging in any of the lines. Some of the fills are a little cliched, or in some cases difficult to work out due to the quality of the recording. I definitely don't plan on changing the lines to something completely different, and having been in covers bands for years using someone else's lines isn't too much of a stretch. My notes for one song at the moment state "G Bflat C - Play like Duff" because it really just feels like someone freestyling. I could tab the whole lot out but In other cases there are some more memorable fills that I've tabbed because they seemed to have been constructed to fit the rest of the track

I think most people go about their lives doing risk assessments without thinking about it. What the pandemic has done is make them do the assessments more consciously. I'm not a denier but think the risk of catching it and the risk of having it may have been overplayed a bit.

I guess it depends on how you view the risk of the rehearsal/gig against other aspects of your life and those of your bandmates. I go to the pub without expecting to know the status of everyone in the pub so why would a rehearsal or gig be much different? I suspect my main source of infection would be from Mrs Nicko who is having to travel on the tube. Reasonable precautions such as dedicated mic's make sense, as would a LFT if you are feeling rough.

That would be inappropriate for the band I'm meeting and I'm not sure I have platforms of a suitable height to match. BTW who would need that number pf pickups on a bass?

I should have said, these are rehearsal recordings as they haven't recorded anything. Its a "for fun" band and AFAIK they haven't gigged anything so far.

I'm done with the endless cycle of enthusiasm and disappointment followed by breakup of pub covers bands and have been in contact with an originals group. I'm meeting them in a few weeks and they've sent me a few recordings of rehearsals. I've learnt the basics of the songs but really don't know whether to try to learn the basslines note for note as played by their previous player or show a bit of creativity. Whatdya think?
