1.
Trouble shooting this issue was easier with your help guys, so thanks! Everything is quite as a mouse now indeed, a decent supply is in order, though currently I'm far to poor for such things, though for the future, which is the best power supply? I have 10 pedals to power... Russ.
Just upgrading the power supply won't necessarily sort that, that particular needs an isolated supply. Personally I'd just buy the Diago Isolator cable or Gigrig virtual battery so it can still be daisy chained.
2. Yeah the boss synth pedals struggle to track much in my experience, best results I got was through giving it a very hot signal that was heavily compressed.
3.
What's going on here ?
It's used on the second channel of my LS2 to blend in a sub channel (with the octoplus and chorus sometimes) same as Shep said!
4.
Are you in a folk band too?
Haha erm not quite but I don't have an excuse for several of the pedals but I'm gradually opening the bands eyes to more effected sounds! The more electronica type pedals are more for my own playing I just can't be bothered to set up or rearrange multiple boards.
5. I love the B3K it is absolutely spot on to cover my overdrive duties and definitely is a pedal that won't be changing. Only thing I would have liked would be a more metallic middy distortion on there so I could get rid of the Hypderdrive but that would be changing the character of the sound of the pedal quite a bit.
6. Will have to check out your review too but this one makes me think it may be the right pedal for me http://proguitarshop.com/video-reviews/vfe-triumvirate-distortion#?type=10
7. Been rearranging my board a bit today, there may be a Moog low pass filter coming soon which will make things a bit awkward! Other plans are to replace the Hyperdrive, probably with a Rat Tail and I really do need an MP-201 oh and the Source Audio Hot hand EXP controller when it comes out.
8. Thanks and can't say I do have the means to accurately enough measure screw sizes, there's no rush but if you could find out that would be fantastic. They'll probably be an awkward imperial size now though!
9. All my George Ls have come from Hotrox too I buy a load every so often to spread the cost, would much prefer if I could just pop in though! Shep you don't happen to know where you could get a replacement grub screw for a straight George L do you? I bought a couple second hand and didn't notice one was missing the grub screw. Not sure if I can just use a normal one of the correct size.
10. Looks identical but with an aftermarket pickguard and different wood neck to the Columbus I had for a bit. That was the N 77 model, would originally have come with ashtrays as well (you can still see the screw holes)
11. This is why photos are really needed, they came from a variety of factories and vary hugely in quality so it's hard to say what it is without seeing it but if it's a solid body model then £100-150 I'd estimate.
12. Photos would definitely help to be able to identify it.
13. When you say it is now giving hum was it previously not? Also is the PSU for the DHA the originally supplied one?
14. Thanks for the suggestion this has made me realised how hard it is to work out how most of these pedals will actually sound without actually trying them. The Triumvirate and Rat Tail are likely possible choices to give me a fair bit of extra space on the board.
15. Personally I ended up buying the Markbass Super Synth after comparing various, the BMS was fantastic at creating a couple of sounds but for me felt a bit limited, the SS is also limited due to lack of variance of waveforms but suited me better. Other units to look at would be the Korg G5 and the Chunk Systems Octavius Squeezer.
16. Fantastic blog once again Shep, out of interest as I am planning on picking up the TC Flashback and Hall of Fame in the next week or so did you find the Flashback needed an isolated supply to avoid the high pitched ringing delays and reverbs can sometimes create?
17.
How about the Badger Effects Schism? http://www.badgereff...com/paraxv.html Ive had an eye on this recently, not sure on the price though.
$172 direct
18.
size ?
Ah just looked into this a bit more, think I've always underestimated how much control Rat style pedals give you, this may suit.
19. Looking at the size of most of these units I'd probably be best to stick to the Hyperdrive I'm thinking! How about good more metallic sounding blendable distortion pedals? That may cover me for the sounds the b3k doesn't.
20. Am I right in thinking that the Lomenzo Hyperdrive is the only distortion pedal available that you can select a specific frequency range to apply the distortion to? I have one and love it but wish I could get something smaller that was capable of the same sounds (I thought the b3k might cover both grounds but it has quite a different tone). Any suggestions on what else might do the same job?
21. That was my feeling, It definitely appears to be the E string saddle yes, adjusting it has improved it slightly but it's still definitely there. If you press down on the outer edge of the E saddle it entirely cures the problem so it almost feel as if it's being pulled onto one of the grub screws rather than both. Have continued to play and set it up a few different ways and seem to have virtually got rid of it now. Not perfect but I reckon it's as close as it can get. On another note someone has replaced the pickup selectors with pots allowing to blend between, I'd rather return it to the switches. I have the switches and it has two connectors one side and one on the other. The pickups are currently wired into the pot with a total of 6 wires (two per pickup then a pair off to the volume and tone controls. How should this be wired?
22. Do these help at all? As you can see it's not exactly expertly installed.
23. I picked up a b3k today and so far am very impressed. Would definitely recommend it over any other dirt pedals I've yet heard. Can't say I've ever rack mounted pedals but some people have I wouldn't rack mount a pedal based tuner when rack ones can be picked up fairly cheap though.
24. Bought Ryan's B3K off of him, absolutely fantastic guy to deal with very patient and helpful all round. Definitely wouldn't hesitate to deal with him again.
