1. My favourite huge and brutal sound is a dirt box running through a multi stage phaser, sounds amazing for anything doomy. Personally favourite way of doing this is with the WMD Geiger Counter for loads of overtones through the Moog 12 Stage.
2. Yeah it's identical to this one http://www.stewmac.com/shop/Bridges,_tailpieces/Bass_bridges/Schaller_4-String_Roller_Bass_Bridge.html?tab=Pictures#details As far as I remember the sound isn't coming through the amp but is definitely cutting the sustain. Will take photos and have a play through my amp as soon as I can, may have a question or two on rewiring it to return the setup to having the pickup selectors rather than the additional volume controls that have been added.
3. Haha, I must not have been very clear it now has the Schaller roller bridge, originally it would have had a bridge similar to the gibson SG basses (it's SG styled) When I say anger I guess having a quick play now it's actually evident in most pick playing unless very gentle and happens if I dig in with fingers. The buzz is very clear and appears to be coming from the bridge saddle itself. Yeah that was my thought as well as it couldn't be more than at very most five degrees but I'd think more like 2-3 off.
4. I've got a 70s Arbiter Matsumoko twin neck that has previously had a Schaller roller bridge fitted to it but if the E string is played in anger it buzzes. Most noticably with a pick on a down stroke. Any ideas what would be causing it? It does appear to have been installed a couple of degrees off parallel with strings, could this be it?
5. Personally I prefer the look of guitars, basses just don't suit less utilitarian style and detailing like a guitar can. Higher end basses rarely seem to me to have had much thought of balance and placement from a design perspective.
6. Will take £30 on the big muff.

Rack Effects

Often you can get higher end often better sounding kit that's rack based but personally I don't think it's generally worthwhile for live use. I use a rack based compressor and one of DHAs twin channel overdrives mainly as a subtle warming preamp stage though but it does have a foot switch to allow channel changes from a distance. Most rack effects are really designed for in studio use where they can be set up and controlled easily.
8. I've just sold my Headrush and can't say I ever used it with a dunlop brick but I ran it off a johnnyshredfreak with a load of other pedals in a single daisy chain and never had any issues whatsoever with noise. Don't think this is a pedal that really needs an isolated supply.
9. Just the Big Muff left now, dropped to £35 shipped.
10. Can also get them under the Valco name, no idea who's actually buying them!
11. You can put it earlier and it will create a different effect but distortion and overdrive pretty well always compress quite a lot tending to result in losing the low volume trailing repeats whose volume is lifted by the compression just at lower gain, tends to just get very messy and noisy fast.
12. If your pedals are creating your OD/fuzz then just put them after them, if it's the preamp it will tend to sound better after that in the loop. I'd just experiment though unless it's a significant improvement I couldn't see it being worth the hastle.
13. Headrush gone too now, Bass Big Muff Pi added
14. Reverb and Wah have gone.
15. Bottom right is hard to identify as it's a rocktek but is missing the top bit with the pedal name on it. Probably be the distortion, chorus, delay or phaser.
16. Would start by saying there is no right or wrong with stuff like this but personally I'd ideally want the tuner first you want to give it the cleanest possible signal, you're unlikely to notice much difference between tuner out and tuner before the amp without any effects though. If you're just using the samsamp I'm sure it would tune fine still putting that on the tuner out or before the amp but after that, to keep the signal chain as short as possible.
17. I'm expecting to move to a Gigrig Power supply soon when I have more cash as they don't half add up as I'd need 3 distributors a generator and at least 3 voltage changer cable things! (Currently have 12 pedals running happily off a johnnyshredfreak psu but would like to get rid of the supplies for the 12v and reverse polarity pedals) How many pedals do you ever have on at once? Most have fairly minimal draw when off, the majority of your pedals apart from the digital ones are pretty low current draw anyway.
18.
That's one pedal I've always heard good things about but never really considered. I'll keep it in mind along the the Ashdown which seems to get good comments on here.
I'm getting a BK3 in the next couple weeks so my Ashdown may end up coming off my board soon depending on whether I add to it or just replace it with it, but if it does you're welcome to borrow it for a bit as you're local.
19. Gareth's recommendations sound pretty spot on imho, I'd probably consider looking at the Ashdown Lomenzo Hyperdrive as that allows pretty variable amounts of dirt.
20. It's 250W at 8 ohms, there's one in our practise room which I use sometimes and it does tend to struggle, plugging a matching Ashdown 1x15 into doesn't actually seem to add much either if I'm honest. It will keep up but certainly is distorting but not necessarily in an unpleasant way but the ashdown mag sound does tend to blend into a mix rather than stand on it's own a lot from my experience.
21. If you're just after adding tube warmth the DHA VT-1 is a fantastic piece of kit and a bargain compared to most of it's competitors.
22. Stop dropping the price! Would have this off you straight away if I had the cash, unfortunately I won't for a couple weeks, unless anyone buys any of my pedals quickly.
23. Personally I currently use the OC2 and the EBS Octabass, OC2 just has that fantastic synthy tone to it but the EBS tracks much better and is cleaner sounding so depends on what sound you're after really. For clean just octave down I'd be looking at the Octabass, MXR Octave Deluxe or the Aguilar Octamiser. Personally I wasn't a fan of the POG as a traditional octaver.
24. Mike bought my Voodoo Labs Tremolo pedal off me, very fast payment and friendly and good to deal wth all round.

SOLD

Trading a few pedals that I don't have space on the board for and I can't justify keeping around really. All prices are shipped within the UK. Akai E2 Headrush, Fantastic looper and delay pedal, allowing output up to four outputs for multi head delays and up to a 35 second looper. Pedal's in good condition overall showing some very minor marks to the edges of the brushed metal edges and a little bit of paint loss the feet have also been removed so as to allow velcro to be affixed which is still there oh and also the nut on the input jack has corroded slightly. These are all much more minor than they probably sound as you will see from the pictures coming soon and it is in perfect working order. [s]£80 £60[/s] SOLD Rocktron Cyborg Reverb I do love this pedal but I can't fit it into any of the band material but as it gives such long delays it is amazing at creating post rockish soundscapes and generally making EITS/Red Sparrowes/Mogwai type noises, as well as doing a good impression of an upright at times and more traditional reverb tones. This is one of their larger pedals and much better made and better sounding than their smaller cheap pedals. If you look around you'll find everyone that's owned one of these seems to love them. Pedal itself is in pretty well mint condition just the base is a little sticky from previous velcro but I should be able to clean that off before sending. It also comes boxed with the manual, a power supply which is American but comes with a UK adapter and the midi lead which I've never used but it's there! [s]£50 £30[/s] SOLD Morley Pro Bass Wah II Finally is a pedal that I am debating keeping to be honest as I like having it but only to play around with rather than being actively useful to me. It's the Morley Pro Bass Wah II, very solid extremely well built wah pedal. Discontinued now and can't say I know a lot about it but it certainly does sound good. In very good condition overall just a few very minor marks, it is missing the nut from the input jack though but it's perfectly stable without it, I've never missed it or noticed it wasn't there for a good length of time. [s]£40[/s] SOLD EHX Bassballs Russian version In very good over all condition with just a few scratches on the top but bearing in mind the age it really is in great condition, also comes with the box and paperwork. [s]£40 £30[/s] SOLD EHX Bass Big Muff Pi Generally very good condition but missing the screws for the back plate so currently duct taped on but works absolutely perfectly. [s]£40[/s] £35 SOLD
