just bought a pedal off him last week; well packed, super easy to deal with, does what he says -- would def deal with again.

neo drivers tend to have a more prominent midrage, and the magnets themselves are more susceptible to heat. that's not to say they run any hotter, what it means however is that they generally need heat sinks, as they de-magnetize at temperatures that other forms of magnets do not. neither should be an issue with properly designed drivers/enclosures.

anyone coming from the cambridgeshire area?

yea, i use it all the time...whenever someone else uses/plays my bass, when i get it back i spend about 10 minutes "getting it right again". of course, i know what the settings are and can sort it in about 2 sec, if i'm even bothered at all, but it stops people using by bass oh, and yea, i use it for its real purpose as well, which is rolling off the treble haha.

yea, shouldn't be a problem. if you want to leave it that way, then bypass the crossover, if there is one. also, if you take the horn driver out of the cab entirely, be sure to find a way to seal the hole. have you tried taking the horn out, and testing just the horn separately to see if it still has these distortion problems? usually when they, or any driver, goes, it will just entirely stop working altogether. it could be possible that you have a loose baffle or seal in the cab near where the tweeter is, which at high volumes would produce a distorted sound.

anyone near cambs got room in their car for a student, a bass, and a few pedals?

i'm surprised no one has mentioned so-called "hand wound" pickups. i mean, i really can't see how they would sound any different being would by hand or machine, if anything the automated winding should be more consistent....yet the hand wound ones sure seem to have a price premium..... Also, that would then be pretty much ALL of my equipment successfully slagged off, some of it even by me (oops....)

those violin basses. i just don't get it. saw one a few days back going for stupid money in a local shop....the body was ugly, the headstock was literally the ugliest one i've ever seen, the string spacing was about 10mm and was the same at the nut as the bridge....and all that for only a small fortune! EDIT: and one more thing -- those vintage basses/guitars. while there is something to be said for the process that happens to the wood as a result of it being played, that can be done in about 5 years of regular playing -- and i don't seen anyone going crazy for early 2000's basses! newer instruments have better features, electronics, etc, etc, etc.....[/rant]
