1. 1. Fender 2. Line6 3. Monster Cable, or any cables that are stupidly priced.
2. with the backplate off, if you move the plate around (just tilt it back and forth) does it crackle then as well, or can you get it to crackle doing that? it sounds like a loose solder joint or a partial break in one of the wires going to the horn, i know you said you had it checked but sometimes things do get missed. if you can, post a pic of the crossover assembly, with view of the solder joints.
3. there's one just south of london soon on sept 27th or something, that i really want to go to but have no way of getting there
4. If you have a listen on his myspace, i think you'll find the tracks are much better quality/sounding
5. How is your EQ set? That can have a lot to do with it -- and adjusting it can often give you more apparent volume. Due to the vary sensitivity of the ear, EQ settings that sound good at lower volumes often are far more extreme than needed when at high volumes.
6. "Give me a band without a decent bass player, and I'll give you a reason why they're not a good band." +eleventy-billion
7. f**king genius idea.
8.
Why not ask him to take the neck off and either ship it both pieces together or even seperately? It reduces the size and value....
another benefit to that is that it then counts only as "musical instrument parts for spares/repair" or something like that, which has a lower import rate, although VAT is the same. tbh, you could probably get away with it, just be smart about it.
9. If it were me, i would be all over that second one. i've got some fralin's in my bass -- amazing!
10. thedontcarebear's red vigier passion. needed a w**k after the first time i saw that. also, alex's Rim custom...oooo nice....
11. not needed on some passive and nearly all active pickups. when it is required to reduce hum (such as on my bass, and many others) the appropriate capacitor should be in place to prevent....potential disaster. with the cap, you might still get a shock, but it won't kill you. i can only assume most people are against it when they see words like "high voltage" and "lethal" (understandably so!) but when properly designed it is perfectly safe. a direct wire to the bridge, as found in many basses, is NOT the way to go.

black finger

i have a blackfinger, it's amazing. i'd recommend it over anything else until you get up in the range of rackmount studio stuff (TLA, Focusrite, etc). the only thing is, it's a bit large, and needs it's own power supply. but it's worth it.
13. http://www.etymotic.com/ephp/er20.aspx as previously stated, these are def the way to go. only a tenner, and they actually sound pretty good, don't kill the frequency response like foam plugs do. i'm partially deaf in my left ear and suffer from a mild tinitus -- and trust me, you don't want even that. there is no price you can put on your hearing.
14. about once a season (every 3 months) but hopefully these status roundcore's will last about 6. after about 3 months, strings just sound horrible to me, but i think it may be to my ultra corrosive hands....where most people take a week to get the "zing" of off strings, i can do it in an hour
15. i've got his cd, the guy is truly amazing. if you look him up on myspace the audio is much better, as far as i can tell on his album he doesn't use any effects other than compression and reverb. not sure why he uses some of the effects he does in his videos, doesn't sound as good by any means. and he's from vermont! win!
16.
It really bugs me how the space I have behind the Whammy is basically unusable ¬_¬
what if you pushed it back and put something else in front of it instead? i don't know...
17.
Indeed, these are JBL Control 1 monitors. This "rig" is for practicing at home only. You can´t get any lowend out of it. This helps not to have trouble with children, wife and neighbours. The amp is very nice and it´s one of the few transistoramps which is capable of driving my SVT 8x10 with a good sound.
oo that explains it. yea, i bet that head sounds really good, show us the whole rig!
18. i generally put the compressor first in my signal chain, but there's no rule really as to where it has to go. sometimes it's best to put it at the end of a lot of effects to smooth out volume spikes from other effects. as previously stated, the best way to do it is experiment. This might be of help as well.
19.
have a closer look on top of the SWR
sorry, didn't really think you'd use those. can you really get much bass/volume out of them?...they look about the size of my monitors...
20.
I don´t know what you guys need these huge bassrigs for. Here´s what makes my guitarplayer cry (for whatever reason)
that's a really nice head there, but where's the cab?
21. a permanent magnet coming near another one is not going to demagnetize it. Heat, impact, and/or AC electromagnetic fields are the only things that could really damage it. edit: just realized i'm two days late. oops.
22.
Give it to a luthier!
+1!
23. 2004 yamaha rbx170. never selling, brilliant bass
24. Kings of Leon - Youth and Young Manhood
25. is there not a phase switch on the input of the mixer? most mic pre's will have something to that effect to ensure that several mics running into a mixer from different positions will not phase cancel. i don't know if the devices themselves are phase inverting, but that's been a big no-no in the industry since about the 70's, so assuming anyone with half a brain designed it that shouldn't be the issue. have you tried a different xlr cable? it's possible that's the problem, if it's wired up backwards at one end; that would also give you the same phase problem.
